Having class once a month worked perfectly with my busy life and Chrysalis was just perfect for my needs. Both the my teacher and student support were very helpful and supportive on this journey.
My recent contact with the Student Support Team was very positive. The person I spoke to was pleasant and her response was helpful and reassuring. A big thank- you to that call-handler!
There were several outstanding issues from my deferral. Having been contacted by Katie, she was able to assist me resolving these issues in a very timely and professional manner which helped me greatly.
Student support has been invaluable throughout the three year Hypnotherapy and Counselling course that I have been studying. I have contacted them when I have needed any questions or worries queried, and they have always been prompt in answering and extremely helpful. I contacted them today, as I was concerned about qualifying, as my placement hours were a little behind where they should currently be, and student support were very supportive, and put my mind at rest with a quick response via email. I cannot thank them enough.
The student support team, particularly North Student Support, have been a massive help while on this course. They’ve been understanding about needing extensions and just gave me that breathing space I needed. They were brilliant in getting back in touch and they do exactly what they are meant to which is support students.
I always receive a fast and accurate response whenever I contact Katie at north student services. Brilliant!
I have been impressed with Chrysalis having returned to learning with them after a break of several years. The learning materials and level of teaching I have experienced have been very good. The Moodle learning system is easy to use and has lots of helpful resources. The support given by the area teams has also been good.
I recently completed the level 5 professional diploma in psychotherapeutic counselling practice . I had a double bereavement in the last 3 months, but thanks to really excellent support from the student support team, particularly Tania, I was able to finish my course, just a little late. I found the course content to be excellent. My tutor in my final year, Alma was also very good and really diligent. I found the new inclusion of online modules to be a poor substitute for in-class tutoring. It made working in triads almost impossible. My overall experience with Chrysalis has been positive. I completed three years and may well go on to do a level 6 research qualification. I am a confident hypnotherapist and a good counsellor. I feel that I have the foundation in place for a new career and that all of my hard work has paid off.
Poor ethics from a company that teaches modules in ethics. I completed my hypnotherapy course in 2022 and am STILL waiting for my certificate. A total money scam being run between Chrysalis and The Hypnotherapy Society whereby you have to pay for ANOTHER years membership in addition to the one you JUST PAID (even though you only wanted to do the one year course) in order to get your certificate. Ludicrous. I can’t think of another organisation that would withhold a certificate after completing all modules, attending the correct amount of lectures and never missing a payment. Absolute cowboys. Have since switched to another provider - so much better. Be warned!
I’ve been studying a hypnotherapy and counselling skills with Chrysalis and have had to have some extensions due to some changes in my personal circumstances. I’ve been going through a tough time and the support team have always been understanding, empathetic and kind. I am finally submitting my last outstanding pieces of work this week. I was worried that I would never get it all finished, but I am incredibly grateful to the support team for granting my extension requests and allowing me to continue this course through to completion.
Flexible learning that enables you to fit in around work.Teaching material is available before lectures.Small supportive group.Excellent tutor.
My tutor & classmates are extremely friendly & likeminded people to myself & everyone has developed good supportive relationships My tutor is extremely knowledgeable in his field & extremely approachable
Poor experience. Only reason I stayed was because I'd paid upfront. Forced blended learning of no benefit to anyone and quite stressful for a lot of us on the course. Skills practice redundant, learned far more on placement. Assignments unclear and not enough support to help us write them. Didn't even have a tutor when the Third year started. Bullying me to pay a prince's trust fee that I didn't even have to pay as I signed up before the change over. Over all, do not use this company for counselling training. I've even been told by other counsellors of their poor reputation. In response to reply; The Dean of studies spent most of the day talking about himself and we didn't learn anything from him. The Princes Trust stuff is absolutely redundant, no one cares about it so why would I pay for something that is of no use to me. Sarah, our tutor, has done the best she can and I can't fault her but as she's brand new to the company, I don't feel she's been able to offer us what we needed from the get go. We should have been given a more experienced tutor in our third year. We've lost colleagues on the course because of your atrocious attitude towards them when it came to fees etc. Honestly, one of the worst courses I've been on. Awful.
Unfortunately, Chrysalis as an organisation has been really disappointing. My teacher is wonderful and the course content is good but I would never recommend this organisation to anyone. When people ask me who I'm studying with, I cringe and feel embarrassed. The staff seem to only be concerned with money and making profits. Our course was advertised as face to face and that randomly changed half way through the year - I appreciate the contract states that Chrysalis are entitled to do this but the way it was handled was poor and our feelings were not taken into consideration. It takes WEEKS before anyone responds to you. You call and no one answers for days and days. If you are lucky enough to get through, you're met with such attitude and defensiveness. No one ever knows how to respond. No one ever has the answers ... unless you're asking about how to make a payment ... then someone knows, of course. If I could go back and change who I studied with, I absolutely would. There is a lack of duty of care and it's been pretty miserable to say the least. The marking of the SSP's was a disaster. I waited for the marker to reply to my comments for around 5 months. During that time, I had no help from Chrysalis staff. I am a student, paying good money - please improve for future students.
Good content overall - the content online and in person can feel a bit repetitive at times.
I left a different course because the content was not as i expected, the course content with chrysalis is interesting and the pluralistic approach is what i wanted to study. The tutors are amazing and supportive. I've always recieved good support from the student support staff. I am a little disappointed that it wasn't pointed out to me on the start, that we wouldn't achieve enough classroom hours to be able to go for accreditation and will have to pay again for a chrysalis l5, which from what I gather are only in 1 location, no where near me! I am now unsure of what to do next to achieve accreditation.
From student support, I feel like they could lack in communication and helping students feel at ease with situations. Although towards the end of my course communication got better, hearing from chrysalis fairly straight away. whereas my actual tutor was amazing and so helpful. He was experienced and passed on his knowledge. He was always available to help and emailed straight back. His communication was great and he would keep us on track with our studies.
I have enjoyed the process of registration on the course as well as the administration. I had to change from the Autumn to Spring course and found it a very smooth and easy process. I am also enjoying the in person sessions thus far. The cohort is very friendly and are all eager to learn. My supervisor Cila is a great teacher and very knowledgeable about the subjects and about the course in general. I have also found the Moodle page and it's resources useful and informative. I think they layout and design could be improved somewhat to make it feel smoother when clicking on the windows and being on the page. But the content I have found good so far. I think it's a good course and I'm enjoying the learning experience. I see myself being a practising and efficient counselor by the end of this course and look forward to having made many contacts and friends along the way.
Highly recommend this company / course.
I cannot emphasise enough how poorly this course has been put together. I wanted to do the counselling course but was made to do the hypnotherapy course at Level 3. When asked why I had to do this they said to lead me into the Level 4 counselling course. I believe the fact that I am educated to Level 7 in a similar field that allows me to be part of the British Psychological Society, I do not believe I should have been made to do this level three course as I more than well equipped to start the Level 4 course. This should be assessed individually and not forced to do it when already educated to a certain level, it's just another money making scheme by Chrysalis. In order to really become educated by them they want you to pay lots of extra money for their CPD courses which are about £200 a go, about things you thought would be taught within the course that you have signed up for, For example, Smoking cessation this is one of the main things you could make money out of a s a hypnotherapist whilst training to become a counsellor. Nothing was done on this with the help of the tutor. We had to meet once a month on a Sunday, which turned out to be entirely pointless. You left with the same knowledge you what you went in with it was just wasted time. Yet it could have been used more productively to maybe explore this smoking cessation and how to do it and provide more details, but no apparently there was not enough time! There was plenty of time- pick anyone of these Sundays where we did nothing. But instead Chrysalis want you to pay extra for this to do their CPD at £200 a time!! However during these Sundays the course wanted you to spend time on areas we are not allowed to even attempt as unqualified and trainees and not to be able to go forward with even after the course is completed- How does this make any sense?!!! spend the time on things we can and are allowed to do! The course on Moodle is so poorly set out and everyone in my group found it confusing- they had different names and things like, components/modules and then a random unit 6 which was not placed in the order of the other components of when it needed to be done and turns out to be a quite and extensive piece of work which was not in anyway supported or delved into in a productive way by the tutor. Many of the people on my course had not engaged in any form of education since school and so more guidance was required which was not provided. For example, there is a 3000 word essay which was needed to be completed and with Harvard refencing there was no breaking down of how to approach this and this was overwhelming for those in the class that had only done their GCSE's and were stepping foot back into education. Although Harvard referencing was mentioned it was never taught. I was familiar with it due to my education and so I spent hours with my group explaining this and how to approach a 3000 word essay so that it was achievable and not overwhelming. My group would call the tutor and two occasions the response was' you have Marie in your group she knows what she is doing!' I am happy to help my people in my group but I did spend hours doing this as it was just not made clear for them, so maybe Chrysalis should be paying me! This was the same with the case studies and how this needed to be put together. I ended up spending four hours looking through my groups work to check they had everything they needed and that they were on the right lines as it just wasn't made clear to them by the course or the tutor. Personally for me I learnt nothing from the tutor I just read the titles of what I had to do and complete and read a book around the topic and completed the work. I then shared my knowledge of what needed to be done with my group so they knew how to complete it. The Sunday meetings and online sessions were completely pointless- I learnt nothing- nothing was taught we were just talked at. I do not fully blame the tutor as they have hired Hypnotherapist to teach and these are two completely different professions. She was a great hypnotherapist I am sure but that does not make you a good teacher and I do not believe that Chrysalis provided the right support to the tutor in how to deliver a productive, inclusive and engaging session that builds on skills. All that happened was we were talked at about, well, nothing !!The most interesting part was watching her do hypnotherapy once so that was an hour out of 7hrs a session once a month which was relatively useful! I was paying to sit in a room bored out of my mind. Others in the group they felt the same. I have formally complained and no longer want to do the counselling purely because of how bad this course is but they are going to make me pay for the next two years if I pull out, which I do not think is right when the one and only reason I do not want to continue is because of how dire it is and I am not getting what I am paying for, a decent course.
A very enjoyable and fulfilling learning experience. Navigating Moodle was a new challenge, but all course work clearly explained. Looking forward to the next two years of study.

Customers appreciate the high-quality content and the helpfulness of the student support team, which has made balancing studies with personal commitments easier. However, some critical feedback highlights issues with tutor consistency and communication, leading to confusion among students. A number of individuals express dissatisfaction with the placement support, particularly in Northern Ireland, feeling that it does not justify the financial investment. While many find the courses enriching and recommend the program, others caution potential students about misleading information and management practices. Overall, Chrysalis Courses is viewed positively, though there are notable areas for improvement.
