Rude

Spoke to a lady on the phone about booking online, she was rude and dismissive until we were discussing payment of course. When I went in to collect the car the man at the desk was sat watching something on his phone, he looked up at me as if I had interrupted him. He was rude and unhelpful, rolling his eyes when I asked if my mum could do the payment over the phone. Yes their hire is cheap but it obvious why! When I dropped the car off they didn’t hesitate to be straight out to me to take the keys off me and do the vehicle checks, didn’t ask me to sign anything but I later got the review form and it said customer wasn’t present for a signature.

Not a good company and will not use again

Not a good company and will not use their services again. The experience started with a 1 hour wait to pick up the van. The guy who went over the van was pathological in photographing and documenting the vehicle. Then a 40-minute wait to return the vehicle and a member of staff trying to claim damage to the van. The guy wouldn’t let me see 'his' photos and didn’t want to look at my photos of the documented damage. I resisted strongly and felt really very lucky to walk away without erroneous extra charges. Altogether a really bad experience.

Couldn’t get deposit back as no money on site

This company is a joke. Hired and returned a short wheel based van all on time and with the right amount of fuel and in the same condition it left in. Upon return we were told we could not have our deposit back as they had no cash left on site. Had to take time out of work to come and collect the next day. Completely unacceptable and will not use again.

This company is a absolute joke

This company is a absolute joke! Avoid at all costs. Spent a great deal of my time booking a van to hire online. Only to find on collection of the vehicle, the person over the counter asking my what I need the vehicle for? I explained to transport Dj equipment for a Dj job I’m doing in Oxford. She then asked what kind of venue? I said a country estate. She then asked what kind of music? I said whatever the client wants. Then said I need to speak to the insurance company and gets in the phone for 5 minutes. She then tells me we don’t cover DJs! I said to her that’s just one of many jobs I do. Why can I not be covered? I’m covered on in own vehicle at home, need to hire a vehicle so my partner has a vehicle to use with the kids over the weekend. I’ll be away for two days. What a complete waste of my time, took a train from Brighton to Hassocks. Hours of my time uploading passport info, driving license, utility bill and DVLA info to fill in and copy to up load to choice website. They really need to get their act together give a list of professions that they don’t cover! A simple ask!! Quick to grab your money hoping you don’t chase them for a refund. I won’t wait for the to refund, I’ll just make a charge back with my card. Choice rentals are cheap for a good reason! Pay a little more for professionalism.

Only 1 star provided as I cannot…

Only 1 star provided as I cannot provide -5! Hired to do a job, brake warning light came on after 200 miles, far from Brighton.... so apparently The only option was to not work for the weekend and be towed 200 miles back to Brighton and get a replacement, to then have to drive all the way back to start the job. Utterly ridiculous when I found a call out mechanic that could have done the job in 1 hour or less and charged brake pads + £50 labour. This prompted me to check previous mot’s to find advisories I’m worn tire had taken over 20,000 miles to be replaced and ball joint boot not still not replaced after 9,000 miles! Irresponsible dangerous company.... Hire at your peril! No compensation offered, no manager to speak to.... utter rubbish!

Avoid at all costs

Avoid at all costs, they will try anything to get extras, checking bank in Brighton is embarrassing watching the manager desperately trying to find something wrong with the vehicle. Sad really. They also keep your credit cards on file for months after you've rented.

I thought this type of company didn't exist but here we are...

I thought this type of company didn't exist anymore but here we are in 2021 - absolutely no customer service skills, I have no idea how they hire their staff but tbh I can deal with that, what I can't deal with, are staff that treats women with absolutely no respect and thinks it's ok to be sexist and just plain rude. the fees are just the tip of the iceberg - they will fleece you for as much as they possibly can. Please, avoid this company at all costs. use a reputable company, and check things like fees and excess costs, dings, and scratches can happen when you're not used to driving a large van.

First time rental...and the last!!!!

First time I've ever hired from this company...and most definitely the last!!! Hired a 7 seater car from Hove branch but was asked to go to Brighton as it would be there. Went there to pick it up and no vehicle! Had to wait 50 mins before it turned up. Drove it out of the yard and it was hesitating on acceleration. Returned it immediately informing them the vehicle had a issue ( high mileage vehicle with 160,000 miles on the clock) so no wonder. Was issued with another smaller estate vehicle which i had to make do with but air con was not working on it which came to light once stuck on the M25 on a very hot day! Overcharge you for crossing the Dartford crossing as well... £3.50 when it should only be £2.00 for a car registered on an account ( excuse was that it was an admin charge which i know is rubbish because it's all automated)!! So to sum up... old high mileage cars, poorly maintained and not very clean. Cheaper than Enterprise etc but in future I'll be using Enterprise as they are clean, new and properly maintained! You have been warned... avoid!

Great service for when I needed a van…

Great service for when I needed a van to move house!! Even though they were very busy, the customer service I received was excellent by both the lady dealing with all the admin and the gentleman handing over the vans. Having the option to upload your documents before the hire date was a great way to speed up the handing over process, we even got a refund for no longer needing an additional driver which I thought was very good customer service! The van itself was clean and perfect for what we needed it for. The handover was quick and all of the marks were noted and photographed, I was allowed to take my own photos too. We then handed back the keys through the key box and contacted the next day to double check all was ok. I really would recommend Choice Vehicle Rentals, they were great for us!

All OK

Got to say I agree with the previous reviewer of Choice Van Rentals Brighton. Van fine and all quite efficient but you are definitely discouraged from making your own examination of the van. £750 excess and no 0 excess option (why?). To be fair no issues on return but the vans are often well used!!

I hired a car from Choice car rental at Sofia airport What seemed a reasonable rate turned out to be very expensive once all their extras were added I paid nearly 200 euros for extra insurance which they said covered any damage A crack to one wing mirror glass had happened when the car was parked On returning the car first they insisted on a 10 lev parking fee because I returned the car early which I said nothing about Then they said they would keep the 400 euros deposit because I had not called then and reported the very minor damage When I said it was a con and I would write reviews telling how they operate they called over a Bulgarian policeman who told me to leave the desk They two women there are rude and clearly are their to make sure large deposits are never returned Please nevertheless use CHOICE car rentals at Sofia airport

Stay clear. Cheap? Not Cheerful

I rented a van from Choice Vehicles Brighton. That was a very unpleasant experience overall. We had to wait almost 50 minutes upon being given the van on the day of hire. The transit van was in an extremely shoddy and poor condition. Duct taped seat belts, extensive damages and loose fixtures like rear bumpers coming away from the actual fuselage. In driving the van down the motorway the rear corner section of the bumper came off. Which I had clearly evidenced as being loose and sticking out by atleast 1 inch upon actual hire. Though something to note very very little conversation is ever held about existing damages between you the customer and the choice vehicles. You wait a really long time to get the vehicle and then are ushered out pretty quickly to avoid discussions surrounding its existing state. And this rhetoric is continued upon return. In trying to hold a conversation. I was actively accused of causing damages to the vehicle. As we 'must have hit something' breaking the rivets. Though this wasn't the case at all and the damage was already there and this was waiting to happen. My initial photographs were not acknowledged and the same employee in question assessed his own images that we were not allowed to view and were actively and aggressively accused of causing this to happen. Infact the tone was very quickly escalated on his part, I wasn't even able to speak it came across very pre emtpted. In the discussion the section in question was stated as 'quite secure' and 'can see from my own photographs'. And as I tried to mention this doesn't imply it was fully secure, and more importantly already documented and aware of. Having got no where, I opened my dispute and a charge was made before an explanation was given via email by the company. More or less encouragingthe idea that they had actually undercharged me for the repair costs and somehow doing me a favour. To summarise I would stay clear from this company they carry out a disturbing practise and in breach of road safety regulations. It is clear things aren't done by the book and there is a lack of care and competence. Most importantly the vechile given wouldn't pass MOT regulations and has put our saftey and the greater public at risk. And to be fobbed off and told the reply email in relation to the seatbelt 'whilst this doesn't look very nice it does not impact the function of the belt. '. Is quite ignorant of what I had evidenced, dangerous and an accident waiting to happen. Something I will also add the paper work given to us the tanks worth of fuel was stated as 3/8ths but was actually a quarter fuel meaning we were manipulated to provide additional fuel and made to wait again for an unbearable amount of time yet again.

Be aware!

Next day after I made the online reservation I received a mail who inform that the car I choose is not available and I have to choose another one. The car I had to choose was expensive but whatever we need to go to vacation so go on, I asked if I need to pay a for pay for the reservation, the answer was no, only need to arrive with your documents to Terminal 1 to our office and all good. Two weeks later we are landing in Sofia and when I'm asking about the reservation the agent said that the price is not the initial price, now I have to pay 70€!!! each day, he played like is calling the main office, the manager have no time to talk now....and so on... so be aware and enjoy your vacation in Bulgaria

Avoid at all cost

Avoid at all cost Please please avoid this company, the hide charges every where, I got a ticket and they charged me £50 for that and this is only for admin fees, they never notify this to me and now the ticket is full price when I could pay this before. Customer service is absolutely poor so you better go to another company if you want to have peace of mind.

Absolutely Horrendous Experience & Zero Customer Care

Absolutely horrendous experience especially when it comes to customer care or complete lack of, for want of a better phrase! I was able to make it back to the rental office on time on the day that I was due to drop off my rented vehicle, although I would have had to rush slightly to do so. I rang the office hours ahead of time to check whether I was able to return the car at around 7 pm as opposed to 5 pm before their office closed, and I was told by a young male that this would be fine and that he would leave a note next to my name stating this. I then received a later call from another employee at 5:50 pm asking where I was. I explained that I had spoken to one of her colleagues who said it was okay to bring the car back later and that there should be a note by my name. She said that there was no note and that there would be a late charge of £43. The young male who I originally spoke to failed to mention the charge and if he had told me this, it would have affected the time in which I took to get back and drop the car off. This company shows a complete lack of internal communication and empathy for the customer. No willing to admit their wrongdoings or want to make the customer feel heard and valued. I was then told to email their support address as I was not happy to be charged - I asked if I could do this and speak to someone before being charged so that we could work out some kind of resolution. I was told that this would be fine. Following this, I emailed them the next day with all of the relevant details, only for the email to not be responded to (which is still the case) and for the charge to be automatically debited from my bank account. I then rang their office the next day and enquired this, only to speak to the most inconsiderate and argumentative employees. She had no compassion for my point of view on the matter and this is upsetting as a customer. When you are made to feel like you are lying and not being honest, this is not right. I was then asked if I would like to be contacted the next day (yesterday 30th June 2021) to speak to someone else and I haven't even received this call. On another note, they do not take care of their car keys. The electric one I was given was falling apart, to the extent that the rubber material on the unlock button fell off in the car, so when I locked the car when getting out, I couldn't get back in. I will definitely be more inclined to take my business elsewhere in the future when next renting a vehicle out, even though their Hove office is not far from where I live.

This company is a joke! They run around like headless chickens with no attempt to engage with the customer Last year Wasted 2 hours picking up a flatbed and would have missed euro start if I hadn’t booked open ticket The guy serving me was a miserable moody ignorance SOB With a shortish beard Recently needed a Luton as had been let down so gave them another chance at the beacons field road branch Brighton Collection was ok but cab was filthy On return I was treated like crap! They said it should be back at 8.30 when you can’t even get down the road for the vans It’s a joke gridlock (8.50) The same guy appears I had dealings with before and yeah he was just as rude and ignorant Telling me he had charged me for another day? Moaning and walking about like he should be working somewhere else I have never come across such a rude and ignorant bunch Cheap yes if you don’t mind people trying to rob you? and treating you like dirt! Receive filthy vehicles and then On return leave you standing about waiting without any conclusion or clarity that you have actually returned the vehicle????? Perhaps they then make up some nonsense so they can charge your card £? (damage) Tbh I will never use them again Both times a disgrace!! Someone should also inspect their vehicles for safety No COVID cleaning going on either “nasty”

Avoid at all costs

Avoid at all costs, make you pay a deposit, in small print don't even say how much deposit will be when you pay for rental, get to the depo and the deposit is ridiculous, then you'll defo get it deducted for something that was there already or even still in my case, you'll never see it ever again. Cowboys! Avoid at all costs!!!

Good van company

Good van, nice staff, easy pick up and drop off. The only reason this isn't 5 stars is that they were very swamped for my pickup - 2 people managing 9 people's worth of vans one for paperwork and one for physical movement caused a delay of an hour to pick up my van.

Inferior vehicles which are not maintained properly. Inferior customer service. Inferior communication. Inferior business practices. If you are tempted to try to save money using this cowboy outfit, do not even think about it. You will regret it.
