First, let me extend my deepest appreciation to CardaHealth for making this home care rehab program available to senior citizens. Carda Health is more than just a virtual exercise program! It is apparent that the founders of Carda Health designed their programs with the patient’s well-being, comfort, and convenience in mind. The rehab nurses monitor the patient’s cardio and pulmonary vitals the entire session. This is the best approach for me because I do not have to be a burden on someone else to take me somewhere 3 days a week for rehab therapy and I do not feel alone while exercising. The cardio/pulmonary rehab staff are very observant to the patient’s needs and are the greatest of cheerleaders. Alexandra Gundersen, RN is my rehab coach, counselor, and Guardian Angel. If something goes a little out of the norm…she immediately stops the session and tells me exactly what to do to remedy the problem. She then adjusts my exercise program accordingly. Example: I am having some trouble with balance. My legs are giving out when I jog. Lexie adjusted my rehab exercise sessions so that I can sit down and jog. Lexie also recommends special videos for me to watch on my off days. She also enrolled me in a support group and we meet weekly via Zoom. This is a Blessing. We are all scared about what the future holds, but this forum provides the opportunity to share experiences, cry, laugh, and learn from each other. A nurse facilitates the meetings. It has surprised me to find out there are others out there having the same issues and concerns. CHF and COPD hit me 3 years ago and literally knocked me out of the saddle resulting in significant changes to my life. I had been very active with horses all my life…now I cannot ride. I have an internal defibrillator and a CardioMEMS unit implanted. Depression is my constant feeling or behavior now. The level of home care I receive from Lexie’s rehab exercise classes and the support group are immeasurable. I end each session laughing, feeling good about myself, and wanting more. I recommend Carda Health to anyone who has experienced cardio and/or pulmonary issues. Us old people may not always like to go to a gym!! Also, most gyms do not have any medical personnel on hand should something happen. I would recommend more advertisement and awareness for hospitals and physicians. They need to be made aware of what Carda Health offers and how it does change the overall improvement of life for their patients. I can shout it from the rooftops, but a widespread advertisement campaign would reach so many more cardio/pulmonary health care workers.
