Browns Restaurants have gone down hill big time since they left Brighton. We will no longer go there!

Have visited their Mayfair branch several times - result good. This time visited their local branch at Shad Thames London. Asked waiter to make sure the Sunday lunch offer was being freshly cooked before we ordered. He checked with kitchen who said it was. What turned up was a soggy mess of microwaved veg. that was just warm. I can't believe they get away with this on a regular basis. They have a smart restaurant in a prime position - we don't expect gourmet food but at £18 per main course it should at least be freshly cooked. The manager took the main courses off the bill and told us that the veg. - which is the main part of a roast - is cooked at 12pm and 3pm - so if you eat after 1pm and 4 pm you are being served re heated food. The place was a third full so the cooks have plenty of time to produce fresh cooked food! Ordered the cheese plate and that was £11 for 4 small pieces of bland cheese - the Sancerre was good at £38 - but all they had to do with that was chill it and open it. They have no idea - avoid.
A nice enough Sunday dinner at the Browns in Leeds. The food was very good, very tasty in fact - however, the automatic service charge of 10% is a real turn off. The service charge added makes this a 3 star and not a 4 ~ in terms of value for money, not the best. I can't really recommend on this basis.
Had to leave and cancel our booking at the table - so bad. The dining experience is atrocious and they don’t get it! The George Street Restaurant is not remotely interested in providing a pleasant dining service. I was joining a group of friends in their new restaurant. The meal was booked and confirmed under an offer from a third party website. They were not aware of the offer and we invited the manager in from the beginning to resolve the situation. After about six opportunities the manager agreed to honour the deal with no apology or humility. By this time he has completely killed the dining experience before we has even started. Our group of eight friends split up with those who were utterly appalled, including myself, leaving. When you go out for a meal you go out to have a good time and meet up with friends. You shouldn’t have to be put in a dilemma as to leave and cancel your booking especially when you have all got together to meet up and are obviously hungry. I am still really unhappy about the managers appalling attitude to his customers. Fortunately there are other restaurants in George Street and Edinburgh. DO NOT GO.
Went for 2 Birthdays and GCSE results last Thursday which I put in the comments section on my booking but this wasn't even picked up on. The waitress was miserable and didn't smile once, my food was shocking had avacado and crab for starters which was bland and no flavour and the smallest portion of mussels for main course which were overcooked and cold. Manager did come over and apologised and took them off the bill but not once did our waitress come to ask us how the food was. Luckily 6 out of the 8 of us did have better food, but very overpriced for the quality and portions, certainly gone downhill since I last visited 3 years ago. Will not be returning.
Browns revamp was good. Ate there this afternoon and food excellent. Service good also. Excellent experience, until the bill. Absolutely despise restaurants that automate service charge. Very much the negative exception for edinburgh. 10% automatic service charge. Which I would have added anyway. I absolutely will not revisit for this reason, and will advise all others to ‘avoid’. Sort yourself Browns, your service and staff are good enough without extortion.
Went to Brown's in Liverpool for Mothers day evening meal. They must have ran out of food and drink from the lunch sitting as they served rip off portions. I have eaten here before and there were no problems, but this time quality and quantity were noticeably different. A handful of fries to all the diners and short pints from the bar. The fish starter needed a microscope to actually see any fish and my son's burger was like the sole of someone's shoe. They served some awful old piece of beef to two of us and tried to palm it off as rib eye. Shocking. Just checked my receipt and the £30 deposit they took at booking was not refunded when the meal was paid for as was promised. Let's see if they are as rip off when we try and get that refunded. If you are going to Browns in Liverpool be ready to be ripped off.
Very Disappointing! Looked nice and was quiet on a Friday night, so my husband and I got a nice table. Friendly waitress came promptly and my husband ordered a cocktail. It came promptly but was small and he wasn’t thrilled with it. I ordered a glass of Sauvignon and my meal of fish cakes and he asked for a glass of Chardonnay and ordered his fish and chips. Unfortunately, Browns does not offer Chardonnay by the glass. No exceptions! So my husband had to order something else, which he did not really enjoy. His dinner had more batter than fish and my cakes had more potato than fish. Plus, there was far too much garlic in either the tartar sauce or cakes or greens which came with. So, while the decor and atmosphere were ok, the meal was very disappointing. We told both the waitress and bar server about our dissatisfaction. We won’t be back.
Covent Garden restaurant Dirty table. Restaurant was freezing and very noisy. Service SOOOO slow. Food was cold. Didn't send it back, would probably never have seen it again. Didn't order a dessert. Couldn't feel my fingers by then.
Expected better service but we still had an enjoyable experience. Would recommend other venues though and would not return.
I was waiting for a food for 30 mins, they brought main meal before the starter. They should not possess themselves as a restaurant, more of a pub, or self service.
I enjoyed the food and quality. I agree with other reviews regarding noise levels. This is a problem. Service is good and polite. Mitchell and Butler PLC have a good outlet GM
Ordered fish pie through Deliveroo. Great comfort food. Delivered promptly!
CAMBRIDGE RESTAURANT One of the worst dining experiences I have had to date. Staff and manager oblivious to what customer service should be with lengthy delays despite a low number of covers. Staff blame the manager and the manager blames the staff. Will not be returning to Browns Cambridge again despite having previously been a regular customer.
Great! I liked the food and the hospitality.
Excellent food and extensive wine list, enjoyed a wonderful lunch with friends and will be back soon.
Great food and atmosphere
Great chain of Restaurant with a unique and friendly guest focused culture serving top quality food.
Racist staff in Islington. Promised compensation and still not received any. Poor service and poor food. Used to be excellent.

However, a substantial number of complaints focus on poor service, with customers reporting disappointing experiences, such as limited menu options and unresponsive staff.
