About APO Group

APO Group is an African-founded communications consultancy built for performance across Africa. Established in 2007 by Nicolas Pompigne-Mognard to address the fragmented state of African communications, the company began as the African Press Organization and built Africa Newsroom, the only newswire owned by an African consultancy. Today APO Group integrates advisory, execution and guaranteed visibility into one performance system, with a presence in all 54 African markets and more than 300 clients served. Its services include PR and strategic communications, advisory and advocacy, strategic reputation and crisis communications, press release distribution, content and design, and digital marketing. Through Africa Newsroom, client news is placed on more than 250 African news sites, reaches over 450,000 journalists reporting on Africa, and is syndicated internationally through Bloomberg Terminal, Thomson Reuters Eikon, Dow Jones Factiva, Lexis Nexis and Africa24 Group. Headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland, APO Group is led by Founder and Chairman Nicolas Pompigne-Mognard and CEO Bas Wijne, with a multinational team working across the continent. The company’s work has been recognised with a PRovoke Media Global SABRE Award and multiple Africa SABRE Awards, Gold at the 2025 SABRE Awards and the 2025 Davos Communications Awards, World Business Outlook Agency of the Year for South Africa in 2024 and 2025, and a 2026 Gold Stevie Award for Most Innovative PR Agency of the Year. Its value proposition is a single accountable partner delivering one Africa strategy, locally, in every market.
