I have been with anchor since 2017

I have been with anchor since 2017. I recently finished my program 2 years after they had initially said my accounts would be settled. Once my final account was settled, I had about $3800 left over in my account. I was always told this money would be given back. However, I come to find out anchor had taken this money as a ‘service fee’ for the exact amount, to the penny, of my leftover funds. I have called and emailed the only response is “it’s service fee”. I spoke with supervisor Mark who was rude and unhelpful. Let’s not forget that any money saved by their services which was admittedly a lot, I have to pay thousands in taxes for. Also don’t forget that my credit score was decimated for years. From my standpoint this is criminal. Buyer beware!!!! All I want is my left over money!!

I was enrolled in their program…

I was enrolled in their program initially for 48 months. Tack on another 18 months to that and the fact my last draft was supposed to be February 15 yet my checking account was drafted again 2 weeks later. I had to pull my last credit card from the program because I worked with the creditor directly and negotiated a better settlement offer than Anchor Law Firm. Their representatives are liars. I just spoke with James who indicated that unfortunately an extra draft was necessary to make the final payment when in fact it was confirmed when I agreed to the settlement offer my last draft would be February 15 and I would receive a refund of approximately $200 from my savings program account. In looking at my savings account program account it reflects I'm getting a $22 refund. This settlement program is a rip off. Please never do business with Anchor Law Firm. Besides every representative having a different line every time I called, I was also sued for a credit card that was registered in the program. I sent every piece of paper I received from the court but nothing was ever done and my paycheck was garnished weekly for 13 weeks. Anchor Law Firm says they're sorry and here's a 17% refund because the card was removed from the program. Not that Anchor Law Firm ever cared but during the 5-1/2 years, my credit rating was terrible (and still is) and I lost my home. I wish I recorded how many hours of my life were spent calling Anchor Law Firm because they won't call you back. If you write to them they will send you an email directing you to call them. Once they gave me the contact information for my Anchor Law Firm assigned attorney. When I called I was instructed by voicemail to leave a message or text my message. Never spoke with the attorney directly and he mentioned nothing had reached him regarding my account and he referred me back to the customer service telephone number.

I really struggled on assigning the rating. The customer service when I have called has been great. They have made me feel better when I have been unsure of what is going on, and the people I have talked to have been very knowledgeable and have put me at ease with the process. In May I received a letter from an attorney that he was representing one of my creditors, and he would pursue legal action if I did not respond to his letter. I contacted Anchor and emailed the scanned letter to them the day I received it. The person I talked to said they would take care of it and not to worry. On July 13, 2017 a civil summons was served to my home to my 81 year old mother, who knew nothing about my situation. This was all very upsetting for her. The civil summons was from the attorney who had sent a letter in May of 2017. The summons stated that if a written response was not given to the circuit court from my attorney or me within 20 days, that a judgement would be made against me. I scanned and emailed the summons to Anchor Law Firm and called them that it was coming. I was told that it would be sent to litigation. I let a week pass before I followed up with Anchor Law Firm to see what was being done about the summons, as I did not want work to find out about it as I was applying for a new job which would be a promotion. The customer service people were great, loved them - which is why I struggled with the rating. The customer service would contact litigation to get an update. I did this every day from July 24th through the 28th because the summons needed a response. I was being told they were working on it by customer service, but when litigation called they would leave a message asking me to call them back and I never got to talk to them. Finally on July 28th I was told by customer service, a meeting was set up with the attorney for August 11th for negotiations. I then asked if Anchor Law Firm had replied to the summons, and I was told no they were not going to respond. I was told I could respond, but Anchor Law Firm could not tell me what to write and they were sorry. I am paying a monthly fee for a retainer. Is it not easier and cheaper to respond in writing than letting the matter escalate to going to court? I wrote my own letter asking the judge to allow me the opportunity to continue to work with Anchor Law Firm to negotiate and resolve my debt and improve my financial affairs. I also gave the judge a recount of the documentation of all my communication with Anchor Law Firm to support that this was not being ignored, but actively being worked. I think it would have had more impact coming from you, and I thought I was paying for this service. Bottom line I don't want my wages garnished, and I don't want work to find out about my situation. I don't know what the ruling was on my civil summons, I am going to call the circuit court to find out because I don't think Anchor knows as well. I also want to ask if I can get a copy of the paperwork I signed. I was told at the signing, a copy would be sent to me. I have never received it.

Deception to trap me into an agreement

I was declined for a Personal Loan from Peerform, which I only wanted to pay off a credit card to have it available again for emergencies and to reduce the Interest rate amount. An email of denial was sent to me, but said someone will call me with more options. I assumed it would be some other type of loan. A person named Eduardo Serrano called saying he was from Peerform. Instead of a loan, he talked about Debt Consolidation, that he could negotiate all my credit cards into one payment for a lower amount. He said I would save almost a 3rd of my overall debt between them and the Fee wasn't really that much compared to what I will be saving. I was interested enough to agree to someone coming to my home and explain the process, go over all the requirements and call each of my creditors to negotiate an amount. He also admitted he wasn't exactly from Peerform, but from a seperate company I later found to be Anchor Law Firm. Eduardo called just prior to the person scheduled to meet me. He said the guy is a Notary to notarize the agreement and I could call him if there were any questions about it. I just figured it was an additional credential to being an Agent for the company. When the Notary person showed up with papers he said I needed to sign, I asked what are they and to explain what they are about, since I was expecting someone to sit down and discuss options to take first. He told me he was only there to witness my signature and to notarize it, nothing more. He said I had 5 days to cancel the agreement if I wanted to. I did not see any reason to sign it, since I want someone to sit down and explain it thoroughly to me, step by step. He left me the documents and after reading through them, found out it was from Anchor Law Firm and that I would have been waiving away any Consumer Rights about it. I also discovered that there were other fees involved that were never mentioned in phone converstaions with Eduardo. There were around 35 pages to this agreement! In the Agreement, all these companies are mentioned that take part in this: Anchor Law Firm (Eduardo Serrano from Peerform, then said he wasn't, but sent me email from Finance Solutions) Cross River Bank (more fees?) Global Client Solutions (more fees?) Fees: Retainer Fee Service Cost Legal Fees Banking fees Why on earth would I want to ruin my credit, loose the use of the credit cards I have currently in good standing and have very little left of what I would be saving, only to go towards paying fees to all these companies that are involved with handling my finances. I don't have any problems paying on what I owe now, never missed a payment and only applied for a loan because I wanted to pay off a credit card to have a safety net again. If I had signed, it would have ruined my credit and set me back further into debt because I would not be able to get credit again for a while. I feel sorry for anyone who puts trust into a guy showing up with an agreement to sign and then says you only have 5 days to cancel...by mail! You know mail doesn't always get there in 5 days, so you are screwed if you didn't know what you were signing and its doubtful you would have 5 days to soak it all in and cancel in time if you realized you did make a mistake in signing! I don't believe any of these companies were looking out for my best interests, only their own. Any caring company would have told me I did't need to consolidate my debts and to just continue paying them off and try for a loan again later. What bothers me most is they sent someone expecting me to just sign and question it later, knowing it might be too late to get out of it, especially with all the waivers of my Consumer Rights to fight it had it gone that way. This feels like a scam to trap you into an agreement you might not want, had someone taken the time to properly inform you of all the risks and your obligations to such a commitment. Reply to Anchor Law Firm Somehow I doubt anyone is sorry about my experience, since sending a Notary to witness the signing away of my rights without ever mentioning it appears to be something you people do often. It was not tailored just for my benefit. My WARNING to everyone: If someone comes and says they are a just a Notary and not able to explain anything in those documents, DON'T SIGN ANYTHING!
