The 2026 Transport & Vehicles report
Automotive services is the category where buyer power is most asymmetric and customer trust hardest to win back once lost. A misdiagnosed repair, an aggressive F&I add-on at the dealer, or a fabricated damage claim at car return turns a routine transaction into a months-long dispute. That asymmetry shapes the 2026 ranking: the operators at the top are not always the cheapest or the most convenient — they are the ones whose customers report transparent pricing, defensible diagnoses, and confident issue resolution when something goes wrong.
CrowdTrust's 2026 rankings weight reviews that describe repair disputes, dealer F&I experiences, rental damage claims, and warranty interactions more heavily than reviews of routine service. This reflects how vehicle owners actually evaluate operators: the daily driving experience matters, but loyalty and recommendation are determined by what happened the one time the operator could have taken advantage of an information asymmetry — and chose not to.
Across car dealers, independent auto repair, rental, parts retail, motorcycle dealers, and auto insurance, 2026 was defined by a continued shift toward operators who published pricing online and committed to written estimates before work. Operators who embraced transparency outperformed measurably; those who continued to rely on opaque shop-pricing models or aggressive F&I tactics lost ground in every sub-category we ranked.
