Been a tenant for 3 years. This situation has been extremely challenging, unprofessional, and discriminatory. Despite sending numerous emails to the office, particularly to an individual named Olivia Laycock MARLA, the Manager, my £2500 deposit has not been returned, and I have been denied a copy of the lease agreement. As a consumer and tenant in the UK, I am entitled to request a copy of the lease agreement and the return of my deposit. I have lodged a complaint with their Complaints Department, but have not received any response. I have made countless phone calls, only to be hung up on. My tenancy agreement ended in October 2024, yet I am being pressured to pay rent until March 2025, despite vacating the property in April 2024 and fulfilling my lease obligations until the end date. I have personally experienced bullying and disrespect, including an incident at their main office involving their main director, Mr. Chan, with Olivia providing cover for him. With no other recourse, I have resorted to legal action to recover my funds. I urge others to steer clear of these individuals, as they exhibit unprofessionalism, rudeness, and discrimination.

An absolute nightmare of an experience

An absolute nightmare of an experience. I would never recommend such unprofessional service to anyone. I was constantly chasing them for updates, as they showed no initiative or effort throughout the process. They confirmed in writing via email that my bid had been accepted and sent instructions for the next steps. I proceeded with AML checks, which I paid for, spoke to a solicitor, took a day off work, and arranged a meeting with a mortgage advisor—only to be told later that someone else had made a higher offer. Of course, a higher bid means a higher commission for them, so they handed it over to the other buyer without hesitation. Even after this, I received no communication from the Crewe agency. I sent several follow-up emails, all of which were ignored. In hindsight, I should have paid attention to their one-star Trustpilot reviews before dealing with them. Please, do yourself a favor and stay away.

Shambles whitegates

Whitegates estate agents Walton Vale unprofessional! I enquired a property to rent ( WALTON VALE LIVERPOOL ) via rightmove approx 2 weeks ago, phoned them up last week in which they took my details and said there should be viewings next week. Double checked Rightmove today and the property has been taken off! What a waste of space, the staff lack communication and customer skills, how they keep in business. If I failed my customer twice my line manager will be asking questions! Over looking a customer once is bad enough, but, a second time after a complaint has been there's something wrong and must be sorted before a third complaint goes in

Ridiculously High Rents

Sorry but where do you get some of the prices of some of your rents from? Looking at images of some of your properties available for rent and I'm shocked. £700pcm for a 2 bed terraced house with a room with no flooring, exposed pipes and decor that looks outdated even by 90s standards? We're not talking in a city centre here either we're talking a small town in West Yorkshire. £650pcm for a 1 bed house which again, has a room with no floors, white goods that are incredibly stained with tobacco, no wonder young people and families can't afford to move!

We had our property for sale with another local Estate Agent for over 4 months without any luck, We asked Whitegates to be joint agents. Whitegates found us a buyer within 1 week of engaging them, Well done girls fantastic job. Very professional excellent service.

We were very impressed with the professional, efficient and diligent performance of Mahal Patel of Whitegates letting Leicester. There was good interest in the property and the follow-up with all prospectus tennants with tennants renting the property was exceptional. The worst ever Estate Agency I have come across.

The worst ever Estate Agency I have dealt with especially a guy called Paul and an unscrupulous agent called Jade from Corby branch. They do all their best to swindle you of your deposit. We were kicked out of one of their house as they had found new tenants. The house was in pristine condition with a few paint marks when we left. They did not allow us to do the checkout inventory with them as they knew what they wanted to do. I swear this lady has done some forensic photography course as she picked up every tiny mark on the wall with her microscopic camera. She came back to us with a bill of £750 for repainting the whole house and are claiming the whole deposit. We obviously rejected and the case is with adjudicators. Jade and Paul are as rude as they come. There are days we spent without hot water and heating with a 1 year old child in the house as they took forever to get the boiler sorted yet they are so quick to claim their rent money. Please stay away and go with the well known companies.

Do not rent from them

Do not rent from them. They are the worst. You will not get your deposit back, they will continue to add new things on in order to reduce your deposit once you’ve proved you’ve not damage the property. Please avoid. They do not care about tenants, even though you’re they customer too. They have a few houses to rent because they’re cheaper than others and their customer service is check. Especially at the Ilkeston branch. Avoid avoid avoid !!

Very poor service

Very poor service. Viewed a property and expressed interest straight away. Deterred from applying as they ' had to check with the landlord first'. Promised a call back which never happened. Phoned to chase and they said they were still trying to get hold of landlord and would call back. This didnt happen either. Now turns out they have let the property to someone else. Appreciate the letting market is fierce but lying to and misleading your customers is unacceptable. Would not recommend.

I had a phone call on the day of…

I had a phone call on the day of viewing to tell me it had been cancelled. I asked to rearrange and mentioned I had taken a day off work to go see this property and the response was “the world does not revolve around you”! And he hung up on me. I am speechless and disgusted with the service at Bramley branch.

Horrendous experience , data protection breach pontefract branch

Horrendous experience with this letting agent. They have lied from the get go to my partner and I about reasons we cannot rent a place with them, yet submitted our details to homelet to be referenced, didnt even wait for our employment or tenancy references before deciding we were a no. They lied about it being a landlord decision yet the landlord hadn't even received our references (pending on homelet). Avoid renting a property through them at all costs. We are seeking legal advice for the distress they have caused. My partner (ex war veteran) and I earn a decent living and have been told no without the reference checks being complete-we have been completely discriminated against. What hope do people who actually struggle have of getting a property when their are cowboy agents like this. They even admitted lying to us. Appalled and shocked

We just sold our house with whitegates

We just sold our house with whitegates. Thanks to excellent photos and writeup we had 4 viewings arranged within the first hour and sold on the first viewing at full asking price. Both Abbie and Natalie kept us updated regularly from start to finish. I would definitely recommend whitegates. Paul.
