Deep Disappointment with European Wax Center (El Paseo Location in Fresno)
As a long-time client of European Wax Center (EWC), I expected a significantly higher standard of service. However, my recent experiences have left me deeply disappointed and frankly disgusted by how the company and management treat loyal, long-term clients.
Recently, I went to rebook my wax appointment through the EWC app, only to discover that my trusted wax specialist, Ciara Rix, was no longer listed. I was shocked to learn she was no longer with the company with no notifications being given to her clients. It feels incredibly unprofessional that EWC had clients showing up without a word—just an “oops, yeah, that wax specialist is no longer with us.” This lack of communication is appalling and reflects a company that clearly doesn’t value its customers.
Given that the services provided are quite intimate, being forced to see a different wax specialist with whom I have no rapport is not only discomforting but downright disappointing. I felt that EWC's priority is not the comfort and feelings of their customers but rather clinging to money through bulk-purchased wax passes. They falsely promote how much they value their clients while disregarding the very people who keep them in business.
Like any rational customer, I asked for my money back since I would no longer be receiving services. Instead of a refund, I was met with, “Unfortunately, we cannot refund your money, but you can have store credit.” This response is infuriating! I wouldn’t mind store credit for a small amount, but EWC is withholding nearly $800! This desperate attempt to keep money in their accounts is nothing short of greedy.
Many clients, including myself, return to EWC because of the wax specialists who build a rapport with us. Ciara Rix was the heart and soul of the service I received, and I only remained with EWC for over six years because of her exemplary services. For those who might argue that I haven’t branched out, let me clarify: during Ciara's maternity leave, I experienced other wax specialists, and the quality of service was drastically reduced. One of them even burned me with the wax! It was an uncomfortable and painful experience that almost made me stop coming back altogether. Ciara’s follow-up after that incident is what kept me returning.
As a dedicated client who once recommended EWC to friends and family, I now feel compelled to look elsewhere for my waxing needs—somewhere that truly values loyalty and the history I’ve built as a customer.
On a positive note, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve found Ciara Rix at her new location!!! I could not be more excited about it!
All I wanted was my money back, but instead, I’m left feeling betrayed and disgusted by a company I once trusted, which is practically stealing my money by withholding it.
