Practical training & Summative

I had my practical training, as well as plumbing & s&y with Stuart. Lessons felt very relaxed and if anyone didn't understand he would always show you again, but if someone still couldn't grasp it, he would have another way to explain/show which you would understand. Its made me have a whole new level of confidence in passing this course. Also had my summative with Stuart and Adam. They gave you a lot of support and guidance but you still always did the work yourself, which is good.

A
Gas Training

Been doing my gas training with Access and it’s been a great experience so far - the webinars with Andy Sibley were brilliant - he’s a really knowledgeable guy with lots of experience in the field to draw from, and his webinars are really informative and helpful, a great introduction to the course and the trade as a whole. He will take the time to explain things in detail if you don’t quite understand and even though the webinars can be quite long, he breaks them up by having a laugh and a bit of banter with everyone in the class. Really approachable guy who creates a relaxed, supportive and informative learning environment. The practical gas training at the Edenbridge Centre with Stuart Sutton and Adam Lee was fantastic too - again, two really knowledgeable tutors with heaps of experience in the trade who both go to great lengths to support everyone in the class and equip you with all the training you need to succeed in both the course and out in the field once qualified. Stuart was great when I was struggling with the pipe bending aspect of the training - I was absolutely hopeless at first but he went out of his way to make sure I left the training centre at the end of the week fully confident in pipe bending having taken the time to teach me the techniques in a way that I better understood. Adam was brilliant during the assessment week in helping me navigate my write-ups for my portfolio - any questions that I had he was more than happy to take the time to answer them in detail, or if there was anything I didn’t understand about the formatting or layout of the portfolio he would sit down and walk me through it. I’m now onto the portfolio stage of my training before taking my ACS and I couldn’t feel better equipped for it thanks to the help of these guys. Great course, great people!

ACS gas revision

Have just been doing my ACS gas revision. Andy Sibley has been a brilliant tutor all through the course. He explains things clearly, makes the webinars fun, is engaging and is just a great teacher. He has also taken time to personally help me a few times, which is very kind and generous. Thanks Andy..

NOT WORTH IT IMO

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! Been working on building sites the past 5 years. Been to night school for various courses at college. I was starting to believe the only way i could become "skilled" was with an NVQ and blue card. Enter access training. A young welder on site recommended this company because he was doing an electricians course with them. Soon after i never saw him again. Im still on the same site but he's nowhere to be seen. Fast forward 8 months, i'm down £3000 with no refund available and i have nothing to show for it. They literally just take your money, after the intial sales pitch which was good, so kudos. You can get a level 2 diploma for free at college, and you can work as a plumber with that, just not with gas. (I actually started questioning this course, when i spoke to the plumbing tutor in college, who was shocked at the price tag and said he'd never heard of them.) My £5000 course would not have included gas works anyway. Online learning and a few weeks in a workshop will not help you become a skilled tradesman in my opinion. Nothing beats experience, but alas its hard to find the opportunity. I'm trying to become a joiner by trade but they talked me into this plumbing course, because they can sell you electrical and plumbing course materials. The online learning is subpar, the videos are not great, there's spelling mistakes in the power points and mock quizes. Unless you have a work placement do not trust people offering you blue cards and NVQ's for money. I never made it to the workshop but after several months paying the fee, my father passed away and i had to get a car for work, and i needed to prioritise other things. To be fair this company did give me a payment holiday, but soon after i decided to quit the course. £3000 down the drain. I had already been paying £400 a month. I probably would of paid it off by now, but i needed the money myself! It feels like a scam to me, once you've signed up and given your details you dont hear from them. Online learning is not a great way to learn any building trade. You're better off in college or buying tickets for various less in depth courses. I could have bought a telehandler course, a painters course, a health and safety cert, a holiday, paid for my dads funeral etc. Instead that money went to access training and i have nothing to show for it. I also had to buy the book myself and i would of had to find a work placement myself. I cant say 100% its a scam, but i would not recommend this provider. I dont thing they should be offering this course, and i did not have a good experience. EDIT: Was contacted by access to remove review, given 2 installments back and offered to see the practical area and learn at one of their training centers, yet to be arranged. Fair offer overall.

I have been communicating with Peter and Sarka from Access Training and both of them have made my onboarding/enrolment to the electrical course very welcoming. I’m looking forward to started my new journey with them and eventually working as an Electrician.

Avoid this company

Avoid this company. Happy to take money and provide zero support. My son has wasted money. As a teacher, I am really frustrated by thelack of help and guidance. Disappointing and expensive

Top notch training

What made my experience great was the relaxed environment and support given to us over the 5 days by Adam. He really understood the pressure I was going through with the write up for my portfolio, got some really good feedback, big up and thank again.

Practical assessment week

I just completed my summative assessment and practical assessment this week. A very heavy and daunting week, however, I had a fantastic trainer Adam, who was very patient, thorough and supportive. He provided many challenges which made me think about what I was doing and why and understand reasons behind certain results.
