The Gym Group

The worst gym in York. A complete lack of responsibility, or even a willingness to take responsibility, for what happens to the parking lot they provide for their customers. It's an abstraction that defies description. You go to the gym and get a parking ticket that can't be explained, and then you hear from the manager several times that it's not their problem and that nothing can be done about it.... I'm speechless. I received five unjustified tickets while I was at the gym, which I pay for. Thank you to the gym for taking care of its customers.

The dregs of London gyms. Attracts all the wronguns and drug dealers from nearby areas who race from gym to gym on their dodgy motorbikes to do their dodgy business. The staff at the gyms are definitely complicit and probably get a cut as they let these thugs run amok causing a right racket as they go in and out of the gym throughout the day and night which is not the normal behaviour of genuine people going to the gym. Hopefully they’ll close down soon once they get a few warnings from the council and a few visits from the police.

Once again, extremely loud vibrating thuds heard from The North Harrow Gym Group to resident flats above where vulnerable, young and elderly people live disturbing their sense of peace at home. Numerous times have said this Gym Group is " not fit for purpose" and is not properly sound proof as the thuds travel as noise upwards. When will this gym group learn and be more considerate towards the residents that reside above.

Stepney gym is by far the worst gym! Gym looks dirty hasn’t been painted in a long time Toilets are filthy looking with water over flowing from some where all over the floor and smells terrible I normally train in Basildon gym and this one is spotlessly clean at all times

My gym group membership was canceled because i paid in euros i was standing outside trying to get in at 12am and there was nobody there to help me i came back the next day it says there supposed to be somebody from 8am i came back at 9 nobody was here i was standing outside the service for help is bad the gym is good aside but if you need help and there’s nobody there what are you supposed to do

I absolutely don't recommend this gym. I've froze my membership for a month and they made me pay full price, claiming they'll make me pay less next month. They didn't:D Then if you want to cancel your membership, you can either do it at the end of the month and they'll make you pay for next month, claiming they need 5 days to cancel and you did it too late. Or do it before and don't finish the month you paid for 👍

I purchased a student membership that clearly states you can choose two gyms. However, the gym I intended to select as my second option is not included in the list. This is misleading and should be made explicit on the payment page. In addition, you cannot contact anyone from The Gym Group for support or to ask question. it is only the website and FQA.

The staff exhibits selective engagement in their interactions. For instance, while I was on the stairmaster, a white male was exercising next to me (I am Asian). The General Manager, while cleaning equipment, acknowledged the individual next to me but did not address me. This pattern of behavior has been observed on multiple occasions. As the General Manager, it is imperative to set an example by greeting all individuals, regardless of age, race, or gender. While I am not asserting direct discrimination, this recurring issue has been noted numerous times. I have been a member for eight years.

Contact form is nearly impossible to find. Even after you find it, no matter what category you choose, you will get an automated email that points to some useless FAQs and a closing paragraph saying "Your query is now closed and if you have any other questions, please head over to our support site." Good luck sorting out anything with them! Your best option is to contact your bank and explain that it is not possible to contact this company, ask for a chargeback or refund of direct debit, find another gym that actually cares about their clients.

Megja experience, DEAN what a sweetie pie. FRIDAY Nov 7th 2025 made my 1st day at Stockport the best ever...even made a fun comment about all my machines being close together to make it fun.. He demoed a new machine to me and I felt confident even though I felt silly too haha..but the whole welcome was wholesome, he seemed so genuine and caring for me feeling timid at not knowing where all my machines where. I came from the Handforth gym and I much prefer the stockport layout and energy. Smells better too haha. Fab experience and what a kool chappy. Minnie Handforth gym. * my gym was closed.

this gym is in a great location but the following lets it down!! Manager - rarely there and nothing gets fixed in the gym it is always ongoing Deputy manager - cancels classes last minute and then does nothing in the gym Young trainers - hungover (they even tell us), no enthiasm, cleary do not want to be there Things always broken - either the gym cannot be bothered to get it fixed or the managers just are not on it with the issues No cleaning spray or wipes - Not everyone brings a towel and plus you use a towel for wiping your own sweat not someone elses, so cross contamination with germs

Cheap but their app shows half of capacity yet when you arrive you cant get on anything and uts rammed, id hate to see it full, itd be a crush hazard. No staff visible half the time, when there is and you request something youre ignored. Absolute rubbish if you actually want to train without waiting ages to use equipment.

Gym needs to address changing room maintenance. The shower locks are failing, and the water temperature is unreliable, often turning extremely cold without warning.

Nosey people in the gym . Can’t mind their own business

I have a membership discount through my employer. When the membership fees when up recently my membership fee went back to the full rate plus the increase. It has been impossible to get any response from their customer service email. So I am posting here in the hope that they might take notice. However it's doubtful if the will take any notice. I've been complaining about the rancid toilets at Lewisham for years and still nothing gets done! Seems like this query has been filed in the same way!

I don't think they give their other PT's a fair chance, the pink haired girl seems to be all over their social media

Do not go to any gym group gym if you are disabled. They are appalling. They do not treat those with disability with any respect and they do not want your custom. The Gym Group lock disabled users out of their premises on sign up and give FALSE advice on how a manager will contact you. They are offering an inferior service to those with disabilities and following a call with their partner who handles the payments the Gym Group are AWARE of the issue but REFUSE to rectify the false instructions on the app. Leaving people like myself waiting weeks for an email that was never coming. Even their customer support who were contacted twice did nothing. A possible violation of the disability act and appalling service DO NOT GO TO THIS GYM PROVIDER.
