The experience was good. Once some initial confusion about the electricity supply was resolved, the arrangements leading up to installation as well as the actual installation went very smoothly. The electrician responsible for the installation was very efficient and tidy. The OHME charger unit is working well.
Engineer arrived asked permission to enter and asked if he was to remove his shoes, asked what I knew about what was going to do, explained then what was happening then how to operate the unit he only left when I understood how to use the equipment.

The pre-installation checks were easy to complete and thorough and the booking process for installation was simple. The installer arrived on the given day and was excellent. He was friendly and polite and explained, in easy to understand terms, what he would be doing and why. He fitted the charger exactly where I wanted it and the finished job was much neater than I expected. The wiring was pretty much invisible and the installer tidied everything away. Apart from having the charger you'd never know he'd been, which is as it should. Excellent in every respect and on my experience highly recommended.

The request paperwork was sent with all documents on 22nd Dec to Ohme to allow the installation to be booked. Clarification back from Smarter Utility on 27th Dec that an isolation switch should be fitted. I arranged for the switch to be fitted 26th Jan by my energy provider and requested 27th Dec for charger to be fitted the week after the switch went in. After speaking to the helpdesk on 5th Jan, I organised my own electrician to fit the switch on 11th Jan to speed up the process and notified Ohme. I sent a further email to Ohme on 10th Jan to follow up. 10th Jan Ohme replied to say pictures of the new switch needed to be sent to Smarter Utility. Pictures sent to them on 11th Jan. A survey was then scheduled to look at the job, it was marked as a standard install and scheduled for 15th Feb. 15th Feb, the engineer then said the floor would need to come up to run the cable. They fit the box but would not install the cable. They did agree to leave the cable with me to see if my own electrician could run it. 17th Feb my own electrican took 30 mins to run the cable and this was at my own cost! Eventually on 15th March (1 month later) the cable was connected to the box. The engineer said, oh thats a bit embarrising, he was nice enough but no offer of compensation to cover the costs or apology for having delayed the install so much nearly 3 months after it was requested! I would not recommend after the process I went through.
It was good that you were able to connect new charging point to existing cabling and at the same time update the fuse box. I did find the numerous requests for photographs very tiresome.

I had to wait longer than I would have liked but this wasn't the installers fault, crossed wires with motability. The installation was simple and quick with no mess at all and the installation engineer was pleasant, polite and very efficient. Charging is just a case of plugging in and that's it, no settings to mess about with unless fast charging is needed then it's a one button press operation. I am now saving so much by charging at home with solar panels making it even cheaper. 240 miles costing around £10! Very very happy customer.
Not the best of starts as there was a communication problem between Ohme and Smarter utility. However, once the process got going it was plain sailing with an excellent installation carried out professionally and methodically. Very happy with the install by SM. Highly recommended
