My previous appointment was cancelled. I tried them a week later in a different location since my car was well overdue for a service.
I ordered a fixed price logbook service. This will be important later, scheduled for 10am to noon Saturday. Got a phone call at 10:55am saying that the mechanic had been delayed and another at 11:53 saying he was on his way. He ended up getting there just outside the two hour window.
After checking the car, he then apparently needed to get his boss to approve the fixed price service before starting work. Why? This must have taken 10-15 minutes whereupon the mechanic was just waiting for approval and couldn’t do any work.
Once approved, he needed to go and get the consumables that he knew he needed for my job. It is a log book service, so he would have known at the start of the day that he needed these parts. So he left for about thirty minutes to get these parts. Extending the time I needed to be at home.
He did the service, which was good. But then found that the air filter was the wrong one. This happens, but just one more thing with delay.
When I finally got everything done, I found my headlights had been turned off. Really minor, but this is a regional area so driving with headlights is safer. Leave controls like they are. To be fair, Kia does the same thing every time they service the car too.
In the end the car got done, but it was a hassle of delays. The issue with waiting for approval and needing to go get parts seem systemic
In summary:
* Mechanic didn’t arrive until just after the two hour window
* wasted 10-15 minutes waiting for approval from his boss to do the job
* wasted about 30 minutes by having to go and pick up the parts
* having the wrong air filter, which is excusable
* turning off controls he should have turned back on
