I initially read a lot of bad reviews, but decided to take a chance on this company knowing I'd at best pay more than advertised or at worst get taken advantage of.
Initially quote a price of $150 on 5/19/25 with the caveat final price was subject to change. I agreed and paid 50$ deposit for service of finding a transport for my car. Pick update was 5/23 sometime after 8pm. Service was provided, but there are multiple points at which I feel I was purposefully mislead by my point of contact.
I got multiple quotes before signing any agreement with Keep Moving. Per the contract I signed, I ceased to work with any other companies after signing. Unsolicited I was contacted by a driver who informed me keep moving had posted my transport job for 575$. This job was posted on the same day I was given my initial quote. Given this evidence I believe that Keep moving provided a quote they knew was not feasible. Per our contract I still refused to do business with this driver who contacted me of his own accord.
I checked in daily to see if they had made any progress in finding drivers and locking down a final price. I stated I understood that the market for this was volatile and there would be difficulties. I would expect that close to 4 days of lead time would be enough, but I did not receive any confirmation until 5/23
Initially, around 5pm I was finally told a driver would not be available on 5/23, and that I should cancel my arrangements to have friends facilitate my car pick up. However less than one hour later I was told a driver was available, but I would not be given their contact information unless I paid another 100$ deposit which would go to the driver for fuel and toll. I was told the driver agreed to a final guaranteed price and I would pay 550 total. My original 50$ deposit paid on 5/19, additional 100$ deposit paid on 5/23, and 400 at delivery.
After I agreed and paid. I then contacted the dispatch and was told the driver never agreed to the terms keep moving sent, and would do the job for 600$ at delivery. I was never informed of this price change by keep moving. Furthermore, the dispatch confirmed they accepted no deposit or any money from keep moving. At this time I have been unable to confirm that my second $100 deposit went to the driver as I was told it would be. I suspect I was decieved and this deposit was solicited under false pretense, unless proof is provided otherwise.
I spoke to my contact at keep moving and expressed my concern that even though he gauranteed that the driver had agreed to a final price, I was still being asked for more. I told him I no longer wanted to pursue this arrangement. Stated I wanted a refund and asked what my options were. He ignored my question, and refused to discuss my requested refund. He only stated that the driver had confirmed he would pick up the car and he would continue to work on it, with no acknowledment of the price increase.
I was later told by the dispatcher that he just keep sending them the same offer of 400 dollars at delivery hoping theyd accept. I do not believe he contacted them personally at all to discuss the discrepancy between what he represented as the final price. I believe him saying he had an agreement was a straight up lie.
I gave into sunk costs and I negotiated with the driver 600$ after KM stopped responding. Similar to the 575 price they posted on day one.
I have a few takeaways I will assume are pretty close to the truth unless provided proof otherwise. I believe a real believeable estimate was purposefully kept from me the entire time in order to keep me from pursuing other options. I believe their inability to secure a driver in a timely manner when given multiple days of lead time is partly to take advantage of people by springing last minute charges on them and taking advantage of sunken costs. I believe I was decieved when I was told my second deposit would go to pay the driver for taxes and tolls, when in reality it was not. I believe my contact knew that the driver would not accept the price he gauranteed me was final, and did nothing to acutually negotiate it, thus putting the onus on me to accept or reject a sudden change in a time sensitive position. I also believe my contact lied in saying a driver agreed to a final price of 400 at delivery.
Finally, I beleive my good will and patience were taken advantage of. Honestly if they had made this process smooth and painless with the caveat I'd pay more than initially quoted, I wouldnt have taken the time to write a review.
However I feel there was a apalling lack of transparency, and communication that made this experience pretty terrible. I dont really know if the rest of the industry behaves like this, or if this was an unfortunately unpleasant experience, but I would actively suggest anyone who decides to give this company a chance of any benefit of the doubt to walk away.
