One of the worst experiences I had with this agency. I rented a house from them and verbally agreed and emailed confirming my extension of my stay. But suddenly the agent left the agency and the landlord changed his mind and evicted us by using no fault eviction. Not only that, they rented the place for less than what we were paying. It's a scam to get your deposit money. They charged us £1700 for property damage but the court ruled in our favor and we got our deposit back. Be careful.

Lauren is absolutely fab!!

I had a great experience with Lauren Foster from the John Shepherd team as she helped us with arranging to have a pet in our tenancy. It can be a bit nerve-wracking asking for a pet but from the the first interaction Lauren was friendly, supportive, and helpful in her approach and was just as enthused when our Landlord agreed as we were!! Our emails were responded to quickly and she was able to pass on all information efficiently. An absolute star 🌟 and we hope to have more interactions with her in the future

Stay away from John Shepherd

Centrick used to manage my property, and I never had any issues with them for 7 years. Once John Shepherd Birmingham Branch took over my property, the experience was very different. So, if you are looking around for a letting agent, please refer to all the one-star ratings on Trustpilot. There must be a reason why landlords/tenants are so upset with John Shepherd. If John Shepherd is your current letting agent, I will advise landlords to be more hands-on, even though you are paying a full management service fee for John Shepherd to manage your property. As I used to be very hands-off when Centrick managed my property, I had a very costly lesson when my property was managed by John Shepherd. To be fair, their senior management staff (Chris, Stuart, Julie, Jack) are all very responsive and professional. They gave me their full support during the formal complaint process. I was just very unfortunate to bump into a very absent-minded property manager. Just to name a few - he forgot to deduct the final month's utilities from my last tenant's deposit; forgot to inform Ginger Energy of a new tenancy, and all expenses were charged to me; forgot to sign on a Section 21 notice and when my eviction consultant would like to submit court papers to apply for a possession order, the unsigned Section 21 notice was invalid and the whole process had to re-start again; forgot to inform the Birmingham City Council of a new tenancy and I received a huge bill for council tax. As a landlord who is paying a full management service fee, I don't expect that I have to check the work done by my property manager. Those are just their "bread and butter". Right? I can't imagine so many things can go wrong. So, if you are looking for a letting and management agent, please read all the 1-star ratings on Trustpilot. I think comments on Trustpilot are very reliable. When I was very desperate to look for an eviction company last year to evict my tenant, I read comments on Trustpilot and found a very good eviction company with all 5-star ratings.

I was nothing but impressed by John…

I was nothing but impressed by John Shepherd, especially by Sam Meeten who handled our commercial property sale. The level of communication and the willingness to go that extra mile to make things happen shown by Sam left us in no doubt that choosing John Shepherds to sell our building was 100% the right thing to do. Would recommend to anyone!!!

Just what you want from an estate agent!

Jack is my estate agent for the purchase of a new build. I can honestly say that Jack's support during the process has been invaluable. He is extremely knowledgeable and always on hand to support (24/7). The legal process surrounding a house purchase is a mine field and Jack has been my go to between the solicitors on both sides, and he has kept me sane! Thank you for all of your support, we can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel! it is a pleasure to write this review and I would give you 10/10 if it was available because 5 stars doesn't seem enough!

Excellent service

Shannon Marsh at John Shepherd has been a pleasure to deal with. I have exchanged and due to complete on my first house this Friday and would like to thank Shannon and her team for helping to make the buying process clear and easy to understand. I’ve been kept up to date the whole way throughout and all my calls have been responded to in a prompt and professional manner. A 10/10 excellent service on the whole. Thank you! Can’t recommend John Shepherd enough

Can’t recommend John Shepherd enough. Shannon in particular goes above and beyond the call of duty and is always quick to respond and get things done. A great friendly and efficient team. We used them to sell two properties and purchase another last year. In the process of selling another property this year and didn’t hesitate to go back to John Shepherd.

Just sold my house

Just sold my house through John Shepherd Solihull, found them to be friendly and professional. Tom and Callum did the viewings and Shannon then did a great job of keeping everyone in the chain informed and kept the sale together where many would have failed. Great service and communication

My experience with the team has been great from the very beginning. From the outset Lauren was helfpul and friendly when coming to view my property to get it on the market. Since then Shannon has been an absolute godsend. She is the person who keeps me the most up-to-date (more than my solicitor) and has always been on and for any questions I have had - and there have been many, but she always takes the time to talk me through the process. I am (fingers crossed) nearly at the end of the process of selling and I would recommend John Shepherd to anyone thinking of putting their property on the market.

My experience with Johnshepherd was great. I was under a quick time frame to move and Rickie took this in his stride, he delivered exceptional service from start to finish. Both himself and Alish completed both the let and admin work swiftly and promptly, and met to the deadline of the move which was just one week! Highly recommend.

Professional staff, awful referencing processes.

The agents in the company are really professional and helpful. It was really easy to book a viewing for the property. The hard part is when the referencing started, it was the worst experience in my life. They are using the services of a third party company called Uktenantdata. The referencing process is unreasonably over complicated, them asking unrelated and very intrusive question, it felt like harassment at one point. It is easier and faster to get a mortgage than to deal with Uktenantdata, so be ready for that. Feedback from the company: ditch that company and find yourself a better partner company, they are awful.
