This was our first trip to Ireland, and our first time using any sort of trip planning service. We’re so glad we found IrishTourism.com! The communication during the planning stage was quick and helpful, and the trip itself exceeded our expectations. Here are a few specifics:
We’re so glad we chose to do a modified version of the Castles and Manors tour. Tina and her team were incredibly helpful with the changes we requested. We’re glad we chose to do Dublin at the start of the trip while we were getting over jet lag and before we rented the car.
The Brooks hotel in Dublin was in the perfect location. Were glad we changed our hotel to one in the city center.
Dromoland Castle was incredible. We wish we could’ve stayed there more than one night. The “hawk walk” falconry experience was a highlight of the entire trip.
Ballyseede Castle was lovely and had a more casual, funkier vibe than Dromoland. We loved the hotel dogs that hung out with us in the back garden and in the pub.
Our favorite hotel was Gregan’s Castle Hotel, and we’re glad we saved it for last. Honestly, we could’ve done our whole trip here. Between the walking the grounds, relaxing in the pub, and reading in the study overlooking the Burren, we could’ve stayed here much longer.
Our hotel rooms throughout the trip were exactly what we asked for, and all the hotels had our info when we arrived.
There was only one small hiccup on the whole trip, and that was when we showed up to get our rental car and Hertz said we’d reserved and paid for a smaller car than we’d arranged. But a quick call to the Irish Tourism office led to someone there calling Hertz and solving it in under 30 minutes. We ended up getting a slightly bigger car than we’d reserved, so it all worked out great. We really appreciate Irish Tourism’s quick handling of the situation. It was good to have a local office to call!
As for the activities and sites on our trip, we ended up using the day-by-day trip pdf Irish Tourism sent numerous times during our drives. Another highlight of the trip was King John’s Castle in Limerick, which we probably wouldn’t have known about unless we’d read it in the pdf.
More highlights were: the Trinity College tour and Book of Kells, driving the Dingle Peninsula, hiking in the Burren, and visiting the Cliffs of Moher.
For every activity we did and site we visited, we felt like there were ten more we would’ve done if we had time. So we’ll have to come back soon and, with Irish Tourism's help, take a different route!
