Intrepid Travel Reviews

I'm specifically writing about the Intrepid Premium India trip. The good: We saw a LOT of things, particularly palaces in Rajastan. It was often cool seeing some of the smaller/more out of the way ones (like the one in Bundi) as well as awe inspiring things like the Taj Mahal. The bad: There was SO much time spent on the bus. The average day was...wake up, get breakfast. See a palace for an hour. Get on the bus for 8 hours. Get off, rest a little at the hotel, do a "walking tour" of the city (usually walk through whatever the local market was), then go back to the hotel. It also sucked that most of the hotels were nowhere near anything of interest. So if I wanted to, say, get up early and go somewhere or stay up late, it was basically impossible in most of the locations. (Which also sucked.) I think it would have been a lot better to have gone to fewer cities and seen more while there. Or to have routes that went by points of interest. (So it wasn't literally just 8 hours on a bus most days.) Although, realistically, if I return to India I think I'll just go by myself. (Booking plane tickets/train tickets/a private car is pretty easy and would allow me a lot more control over my itenerary.)

Our trip to Egypt was a wonderfull experience made more so with the excelent guidence of Mohamed Manar with his knowlege of antiquity, history and current living situations in Egypt which he fondly shared with us. He especially taken care of me as i am nearly deaf and he made sure that i understood most of what was going on which was very much appriciated. This was our 4th trip with intrepid and it lived up to our expectations as have the other ones. Nic and Marcene Tesselaar

My trip -Morocco Uncovered- with Intrepid was excellent. On the bucket list. I went solo but was with a small group which made it ideal. We had Khaled as a guide and he was the best. He is knowledgable, has a great sense of humour, very friendly and is familiar with all areas visited. We were given local, geographical and ecological information and had rides in a comfortable van. The places chosen for us to stay in were exceptional including the amazing desert stopover -food was a major plus.

Travelled with Intrepid on their Best Of Sri Lanka trip - just wonderful. Leader Asanga is a marvel knowledgeable and funny but no nonsense. 10/10 bloke. Itinerary was excellent busy days but manageable. Loved the cycling and trekking - achievable for most people. Accommodation was of good standard bar one hotel. Jungle camp was fantastic. All in all a very memorable trip

The trip started with some great sightseeing and a trip of a lifetime balloon flight (optional). A good balance of activities and free time. The guide was brilliant and went the extra mile to ensure our trip met our expectations

Highly recommend the Cambodian Traveller trip! Our guide, Daro, was fantastic and my fellow intrepid travellers were amazing. Full iteniary but worth every moment. I was very impressed with Intrepid and will definitely travel with them again!

Loved it. Travelled from Mexico to Costa Rica. Had an absolute blast. Would absolutely travel with intrepid again!

Premium Japan - A return to form for Intrepid. A particularly helpful guide, feature packed tour and programme, great culinary experiences and friendly tour companions. One of the best, if not the cheapest trips we’ve done although we didnt find the country expensive against the pound when we got there,

Just spent 3 weeks in Morocco on 2 Intrepid tours 9day Nrth and 10 day Sth I had the best time with some fabulous people.The tour guides were great especially our STh Morocco tour guide Khalid We experienced the earthquake whilst we were there He was very calm and reassuring helping us during that time . An asset to the company Highly recommend am even planning on going back to Morocco and using Intrepid again it was such a great experience and wonderful country

Really great host/guide that took her group into account at all times to make sure the tour was the best experience possible whilst accommodating any group requests

Everything about the India to Nepal trip with Intrepid was great. The days were busy but not too busy. We sometimes were tired but not too tired for the next day. We absolutely love Indian food so eating out was never a problem. Our tour leader was just that - a leader who made sure our every need was met. I look forward to taking a future trip with Intrepid!

We have just done 3 Intrepid tours. My review here relates to the Premiun Turkey in depth tour. Excellent Guide Seda, Excellent driver Mesut and Excellent Itinerary. Where this trip disappointed us was some of the accommodation was not Premium Infact one would not even meet the Original Tours standard. We paid considerably more to travel at this level and like others in the group were disappointed all accommodation was not at Premium standard which is what we paid for. Some others were hoping to book Intrepid Premium again but said they would look at other options. It doesn't come near the Peregerine level which we understand Intrepid have purchased and call it Premium.

Update to my 1 star review. Intrepid has not returned +$7,000 from a trip our agent booked and paid for but was cancelled by Intrepid. We have submitted a fraud claim with the Better Business Bureau and now our lawyer is involved. Stay away from this company.

Somebody came down with Covid, Intrepids policy policy is to continue the tour. Then at least two more people had it. My last trip with Intrepid Travel. Gadventures and Exodus both do quarantine, off the bus.

Having travelled many times with Intrepid, I find the biggest stand out compared to other companies is having local, highly experienced guides. Our guide Dora who lead us seamlessly through the Balkans for 15 days provided so much in-depth knowledge of the history, culture and resilience of the people in the areas we visited, that I came away with a greater understanding and respect of the beauty of the people and the cities. Not to mention, knowing the best places to try traditional foods such as Burek and Klepe. Highly recommend this tour and travelling with Intrepid.

Intrepid Travel had availability for a Premium Portugal trip online. Clearly had written that there was availability. Accepted payment & immediately charged my credit card. Received an email the next day stating that there isn't an avaibility - no effort was made to suggest another date or option. Mentioned that monies will be kept as credit or refunded. Never replied to my emails about getting the money refunded until after a few separate emails. Then was informed that refund will take 4 weeks. Excuse me??!! You had immediately charged my credit card, offered me no service, and now I have to wait for 4 weeks until I get > AUD 6000 back into my card, disabling me from making other bookings due to the shortfall of funds in the credit card. I would be very careful before booking with this company

The tour guide and our driver were amazing! Nothing was too much trouble, no question was ever stupid and safety and fun was the priority of each day. The trip flowed smoothly as our guide and driver (Ado and Hardy) worked tirelessly to ensure we enjoyed ever experience available to us.

I have travelled with Intrepid many times before and have never been disappointed. Tour guides have been chosen very carefully and are excellent. They put their heart and soul into their job. They can make or break your trip. I feel safe, everything is taken care of, I get to places to experience cultures and activities I would never do on my own. There are plenty of included activities. It is hassle free to just enjoy. Tri, our guide, was caring, funny and well organised. I particularly enjoyed the included motor bike ride and kayaking, both of which I felt very safe even though I am not a swimmer. An optional activity was to hire bikes in Hoi An, which is not to be missed. You really get into the lifestyle of the locals here.

We recently went on the Inca Trails with Intrepid and we had such an amazing trip. Our trip was extra special due to the guide, Carlos. He was energetic and enthusiastic and full of knowledge. He made the many stories come to life which got us immersed in the history. Machu Picchu was out of this world. I don’t know how to describe the place. Photos don’t do justice. You have to be there, see it yourself to get the whole sensory working. It wouldn’t have been as memorable if not for the stories that Carlos told us. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Intrepid to anyone who wants to do this South American trip.
