This is a review for one of the service team, Sam, at Halfords Huntingdon this afternoon. He was very helpful, friendly and knew what he was talking about. Even though it was a simple case of finding and replacing two headlamp bulbs on my BMW, Sam made it a pleasurable experience.
Family disaster. Took a newly-bought second hand child's bike in for what I hoped would be a quick repair to the back wheel. I told the staff that the bike was a birthday present for the following Monday, exactly a week later. Was informed that it needed a Silver service and would be ready Friday next. I would receive a call. No call by 4pm Friday, impossible to contact Halfords by phone, so I revisited the store. Informed the bike would be ready for the following day ( Saturday) and I would receive a call. No call by 4pm Saturday ( now only 2 days to the birthday), impossible to call by phone yet again, so revisited the store. Informed that the Service was complete except the bike had no chain as the old chain was defective and the new chain could not be delivered before Tuesday next. However, I was informed that I could take the bike without it's chain if I wished. So my outcome is: Granddaughter will not get her bike on her birthday. Granddad is in the doghouse New chain might arrive on Tuesday, but I probably won't get a call from Halfords. When I visit again on Tuesday I'll probably be surprised if the bike is completed, but I won't be surprised to have to pay the full amount on the original estimate, despite my frequent visits.
Ordered a bike and scooter and had a pickup date a week later, which was frustrating due to the kids being so excited to get them, I turn up today at the arranged time to be told the bike is not available and that I should have been told, wonderful! Completely useless go elsewhere
Men's Apollo Phaze mountain
Men's Apollo Phaze mountain
We bought a men's Apollo Phaze mountain bike for our 12 year old in August 2024. He uses this approximately 90% for the school commute and 10% for a what you would think the bike was made for, albeit in the local park and not on any mountain. He has had it for just over 10 months, but only had about 9 month use out of it for various reasons. Last week a small part of the brake came loose and won't screw back in as the thread is worn. This is not a part that moves, so no wear should be expected. Just went to our local Halfords to be told that the bike needs £183 in repair and maintenance! We paid a £160 less than a year ago. Warranty was refused as it was wear and tear according to Halfords. Even the part that should not be moving! If this bike can't be used as our son uses it without this amount of repair with 9 months use than it is not fit for purpose. Avoid like the plague unless you only want to look at it.
Don't bother with these scumbags
Don't bother with these scumbags
Going back a decade or so, I bought a TomTom Sat Nav from Halfords. The premise for doing so was that I'd get free updates for life - that was what Halfords promised. Well, recently TomTom sent me a communication that they were discontinuing support for the device due to its age. I understand that's how it goes, so I reached out to Halfords for guidance as to how they'd support me. Their customer service team told me they couldn't help, that it would have to be the store. I told them to get the store to call me - they didn't. The customer service team then came back to me (a helpful girl called Niamh), and said that they'd heard back from the store themselves, who were basically going to wash their hands of the matter, saying that I should take it up with TomTom themselves even though my contract was with Halfords. I corrected the customer service team on this, who told me the store would call me. Would you believe that the store never did? I write this review some six weeks on, having afforded them the time to correct the matter. I tried to reach out to the customer service team again only to be informed by automated email that the case had been marked as "resolved". In other words, folks, Halfords' word is worth bugger all. Do not trust these lying, scheming scumbags, and don't waste your money in their store - there are plenty of other stores out there that actually stick to their word, and actually give a crap about their customers.
Excellent customer service
