    Terrible experience with Eurocar

Terrible experience with Eurocar! I booked a car online, paid in advance, and when I arrived to pick it up, they refused to rent it to me without any valid reason. The staff was unhelpful and showed no interest in resolving the issue. To make things worse, getting a refund has been a nightmare—slow responses, excuses, and no clear process. This company is completely unreliable, and their customer service is awful. Avoid them at all costs unless you want to waste your time and money! Let me know if you’d like any changes!

    Beware of the Gatwick Office

It's such a shame when an employee of a firm can be so destructive reputationally to them. I made a complaint about a young man on the desk at Gatwick over 6 weeks ago, and am still awaiting a response [despite being promised feedback after a week] The young man in question had clearly taken aganist me, which was unfortunate, as we had been travelling all day, were tired, and was hoping to pick our our pre-booked car from the airport without incident. However this individual seemed to have decided that our business was unwelcome, and proceeded to make this simple piece of administration as difficult and irritating for us as possible. Little tricks, such as demanding that I wrote personal details on a post it, that were already on the booking form, conduct DVLA checks [that i had never been asked to do in the past] fill in paperwork with details already given, and change the booked vehicle for a completely different vehicle, which ended up further as a completely different vehicle once in the lot collecting it [he gave us a Skoda, which clearly was our 'punishment' for daring to challenge him! -I'm pleased to report that the Skoda was excellent, and I enjoyed using it!!!] It was all rather surprising. I've been hiring vehicles fairly frequently for over 30 years, and Europcar was even our contractor at a couple of firms where I have worked, and we never had any issues. I have filled out countless booking forms, had my license inspected [which is clean and long standing] and never had a claim on a hire ever. Perhaps one of their bods will see this, and finally deign to respond to this very annoyed customer one day...

Lets see what happens after I post this…

Lets see what happens after I post this negative review... My guess is that Europcar respond with a 'We're sorry to hear... etc. etc... Please give us a chance to solve this problem by writing to us at this link - etc etc...' within a few hours. Then I write to them and they write back saying that they are very sorry but they cannot help. Then you write to them again and they don't reply. Cynical business practice designed to exploit the vulnerabilities of TrustPilot's system, and blatant profiteering over decency and ethics - that's Europcar.

I requested a rental car from the Hamilton branch, I made the payment and uploaded all the documents. I received a phone call from Sam saying everything was done and paid for that I could collect the car. When I arrived I was asked for my address which I had already done online and then got told I was declined. Why could he not have told me this when he phoned me? I have now been informed it will take upto 10 days for my refund They clearly make money off clients holding their money for a period of time and getting interest. Not a reliable company stay well away from them

Very poor customer service who cant seem to help.

In the last month I have had 2 rentals from Europcar, the first one I sourced via Expedia and paid Expedia for the rental, when I got to the desk in gatwick airport to pick the car i had booked and paid for the rep said there was no payment and asked me to pay again before taking the car. The second rental pickup yesterday 30/1/2025 I ordered a Tesla Model 3 when driving the replacement car back I realised the heating was not working, I reported this straightaway on Friday night @ about 8.00pm the person I spoke to was not sure what to do but said i should get in touch with the branch i tried but there seems to be no way to do that, i then spoke to another europcar rep this morning at 8.00am and they said they would get in touch with the branch to sort out a replacement car I then spoke to them again at 11.00 as i need to know what was going on and to start my journey, they did know how to help me but said the branch would get in touch. Its now 12.10pm and still nothing. These rental companies should be looked into there customer service is very poor and from my experiance they are ripping people off charging twice and not helping to rectify any problems.

    AVOID Europcar Oxford. Scammers

Europcar Oxford tried to scam me of money for some damages were already on the car. Short story. On pick up they offered their insurance that would double the rental price and I refused. They bought the car outside and I asked for the existing damages report on the car that I was not provided with and I’ve been told that they are aware of all damages and I will not get charged for them. I took a video of the car in many angles that saved me probably paying over 1000£ in damages fees. On drop off the guy looked around the car for 1 minute the came to me and said that everything is ok and I will receive my deposit back in 4-5 days, I left and then the scammer went back to the car took photos of 2 scratches and added them to the drop off report and said that they were new ones. I never found out until one week later when I received an email from europcar with the claim against me for 2 scratches on the car. I asked for the drop off report and I couldn’t believe when I saw the pictures of the scratches in the drop off report. I cannot stress enough telling you how important it is to have videos and photos taken on the start of a hire as they will do everything they can to take some money off you. Be safe 👍🏻

    Customer service is a joke

Was advised by Motability to make a complaint as the hire car requested was an EV and not an automatic. Motability also confirmed they requested an EV but Europcar ordered the wrong car. Been over a week and no reply even though I've chased. Very disappointing.

    MINUS 5 STARS & STAY AWAY !!!

Using their services is looking for problems. I made a reservation for a car rental with Europcar UK but when picking up the car the rental company does not accept conditions from voucher. Strong pressure to buy additional services, combinations with rental conditions and deposit. Despite the fact that we had a good credit card and did not want to accept the purchase of additional services - we were lied to that it was a deposit and were tricked into charging a few extra fees. Very serious and strong recommendation - respect yourself and AVOID these greedy cowboys!!!

For your own sanity stay clear of Europcar Heathrow

I paid comprehensive insurance while overseas only to get to Europcar Heathrow and be told the car I had rented wasn't available and I had to pay extra insurance. I was given only two options either an upgrade where I had to pay more or an electric car which the guy by the counter said was a bad idea since I was going to drive outside of the UK. I asked why the car I had fully paid wasn't available but got no answer instead the guy would go and talk to his colleagues and then come back trying to make small talk. So after my 23 hour flight the only car available was an expensive upgrade. I was then billed and few days later got a refund then when I returned the car I was billed again.

Booked and paid online BIG MISTAKE!

Booked and paid online. Half hour later I got phone message saying they hadn’t got the size of vehicle I need and the alternative was too small. I tried to call back on 3 occasions but never got an answer except on one occasion the person said I’ll transfer you to the rental place I was collecting from and the phone went back to hold for another 10 minutes then an automated voice told me no one was available please try again. I cancelled my online booking but money had already been taken. Now I have to wait up to 28 days for refund! I emailed hoping for a quicker response but the automated email said they will contact me within 7 days! Give me my money back please!!!

Never again. They trick customer with small print.

Rented car for £89. Ended up with bill Euro 307. FIRST AND LAST TIME WITH THIS COMPANY They don't give you the car you paid for online. Put pressure to buy extra insurance for free upgrade. They do not mention prices are excluding VAT. On final bill you receive charges such as Environmental contribution (euro 3) Premium Station (euro 42) which are never mentioned at the time of renting. After a long flight, nobody reads the small print on the contract they make customers sign, then end up with a bill three times the rental price. Be very careful or ideally avoid this company. UPDATE: 4 Feb 2025 This company is a joke. They send a reply to the bottom of Trustpilot message. The link takes you to a department who then refers you to the initial department you made the complaints to. From my end, I informed the HR of our company who stopped working with them, circulated my experience with them on Facebooks so friends are aware and will be mentioning their behavior in every opportunity.

AVOID EUROPCAR CAR AT ALL COST

AVOID EUROPCAR CAR AT ALL COST There are many hire companies out there, but sadly Europcar is not the one to use and I would definitely never recommend them or use them ever. I had a hire vehicle from them through my insurance company and 11 days after the vehicle was off hired I received a text message saying they were investigating damage that illedgely happened in my hire period. 11 days later, a text..not even a phone call, and definitely something I am not responsible for. You can't of course speak to a human on the phone, as their complaints procedure only allows there staff to hind behind a keyboard, firing off emails and texts. Interestingly enough, when you scan social media, I don't appear to be an isolated complaint, and theirs too many customer experiences that suggest them taking money from people's accounts for "damage".. this would appear to be a bit of a buisness trend for them.. I can only give you the benefit of my experience, and I would never deal with them again or encourage anyone to use there service. D××× Turpin at least, wore a mask.

Charging for petrol that was already done !!

My insurance hired me a car as my disability car is being repaired at no fault of my own but after a few weeks they asked for the car back, that’s fine so I had it cleaned inside and out that cost me £40 so I didn’t get anything to say it wasn’t clean and the fact I’m a nice person always give it back in same condition and I filled the tank to its capacity literally went over the full tank line BUT yesterday received a text stating I owe them £54.53 for fuel !! Thank god I took photographs and they were dated as they trying to pull a fast one !! I’m not paying for fuel when I had already filled it .. not my problem what your collection driver done when he left my property!! The customer services is terrible takes over an hour to speak to anyone and even then they are not interested just say email us with your concerns … absolute joke .. I emailed over 30 hours ago and have nothing back yet. No doubt someone will reply to this with “contact us” no you contact me as your in the wrong.

Avoid like the plague. They are rubbish and don't care. They forgot about our booking, left at the airport for hours. Eventually got in contact with them, told to get a taxi to my hotel and they would refund the cost. Time to pay, and they refused. DO NOT USE. Walk if you have to

    Appalling Services from Europcar

You’ve got a cheek with your stupid repeated replies to everyone to give you a chance, I wouldn’t give you a chance if you guys was the last company on earth. Wasters. One of the worst companies I have ever had to deal with. My car has had to go in back to the garage for its issues, Europcar was the only choice to provide me a car until mine is rectified. Europcar gave me a 5 seater MG and I said advised this was no good as we require a 7 seater (our 7 seater is in the garage), Europcar told me this was not possible, gave me a car that was absolutely disgusting inside and out and told me it had been valeted, (I have photos) I asked who valeted it stevie wonder?, they then gave me another 5 seater and again I made it clear a 5 seater is absolutely no good. Eventually 2 days later I get a call from Europcar to say a 7 Seater VW MULTIVAN GL74 VWY is available for me to collect. Went and collected and been smooth ever since. Driving home today 27/01/2025 and the vehicle (VW MULTIVAN GL74 VWY) started to smell of burning and then suddenly a large warning triangle saying HAZARD: FIRE, the vehicle hit the brakes by itself and came to a complete stop shutting everything down and called the Fire Service out. The Fire Service inspected and agreed it stunk of fire burning ect and advised me to not drive it any further. I call the Coventry Europcar Branch to make them aware of the situation and the guy was not interested and said call RAC, spent ages trying to connect with RAC whom could not find the details, in the end after I did some digging Myself, it was the AA who needed to be called so i was provided with the wrong information. The AA contractor Elite Recovery Midlands have just arrived and have immediately deemed the vehicle unfit and unsafe to drive from what they have seen and inspected at 21:06pm on 27/01/2025 I have the breakdown report, would you like me to post this report all over your sites to show you up and show everyone your lack of care to your customers, my children was in this vehicle and look what could of potentially gone wrong. vehicle ready to be recovered from my home on 28/01/2025 The stress you have caused me and the danger you have put my children in with your dodgy vehicle Now trying to locate another 7 seater and the Coventry Europcar Branch are refusing to help and his words was (not my problem) so I called the main Europcar number and they have also been very unhelpful and said nothing they can do. The person at the Europcar Coventry UK, his customer service and attitude is disgusting
