Flat Mobile from DR, mixed feelings

Me and my girlfriend both have the Flat Mobile subscription from Digital Republic. The setup to get the eSim going was pretty straightforward and fast. I use the internet mostly to browse on my phone, watch videos or provide a hotspot for other devices to do the same there. The internet works quite well during the day. However, the bandwidth in the evening gets super bad so that I usually cannot watch youtube videos in 720p or stream videos on my Laptop without frequent stuttering. This is a major bummer because a big reason for me to have internet at home is to watch movies since at work I have wifi from my employer.

Misleading and shady provider!

Misleading and shady provider! Ended up buying their Flat 10 subscription after being reassured by their support team and their publicly available guide I could port my existing phone number from a different provider. In the numerous emails exchanged with support nor on their website they mention that in order to port the phone number with this plan you need to be aware of the 110 CHF extra of having the "voice option". Not transparent and shady practices! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND search for-how-can-i-take-my-existing-phone-number-with-me- to see how they don't mention anything about the costs associated.

Empfangsqualität des LTE Modem kontrollieren

Bis jetzt habe ich an Digital Republic nichts zu bemängeln. Da wir empfangstechnisch schwierige Standorte haben, habe ich schon viel verschiedene LTE-Modems und Antennen (int. wie externe) mit allen drei Provider durchprobiert. Schlussendlich erreicht man die aktuell mögliche Geschwindigkeit des Providers (die natürlich auch schwankt) nur wenn die Antennen einen Wert (RSRP) in der Nähe von 90 dB gaben (unter 90 dB ist problemlos). Gegen 100 dB nimmt die Übertragsrate ab und über 100 dB wird es langsam unbrauchbar. Neben der Position der Modem-Antennen beeinflusst auch das das Wetter die Übertragung (darum unter 90 dB). Die meisten Modem zeigen die dB Werte an und das hilft den optimalen Standort und Antennenposition zu finden. Vermutlich ist das den meisten bekannt, aber manchmal denkt Frau/Mann nicht dran (der erste Test mit Digital Republic an meinem privaten Standort war sehr enttäuschend, bis mir eingefallen ist, dass mit Digital Rebuplic der Provider und damit der Senderstandort gewechselt hat. Modem und Antenne neu ausgerichtet und alles lief viel besser).

eSIM ordered more the 12 hours ago

So will amend my previous review, eventually I have got a QR code, after more then 12 hours, so for a foreigner who transit the country, this is quite a lot... and frankly makes not much sense. If document provided for identification was unsuitable, why it took so much time and efforts to clear it out and wasn't rejected at the time of scanning? Besides delayed feedback also makes not a very best impression. From other side internet speed is at acceptable level.

Scheitert am schlechten Netz

Das Setup ist super einfach, die Geschwindigkeit in Lenzburg AG allerdings mehr als enttäuschend. 300mbits sind in der Realität maximal 10mbits, sprich Streaming auf einem Gerät mit 480p ist i.d.R. ok, für viel mehr reicht es dann aber nicht. Zudem kommt es regelmässig zu Schwankungen, so dass selbst auf dem Smartphone - ohne weitere Geräte - nichts mehr läuft.

Egal welche Angebot 300 oder 2000 hatten wir nur Probleme beim Streamen auch wenn nur 1 gerät verbunden wahr stockte das bild egal Netflix,Google oder Disney+ Habe schon Mails geschrieben aber nie eine Antwort bekommen
