Excellent company to deal with would use them all day long

I booked a hostel through this broker because the advertised price was slightly cheaper than booking directly with the hostel. I paid a deposit and then received a booking confirmation, with this advertised price. However the hostel itself then charged more than the stated price, and sent a receipt with this higher price. Therefore my Visa was charged a different price from the advertised one, and this is totally a no-no, even though the difference was small. I complained to the hostel and got no answer. I then complained to Hostelworld. They said they would look into it, but meanwhile would refund the amount I paid to them as a deposit, as a goodwill gesture. They indeed refunded this, and the refund was more than the amount I had lost out on. I am grateful for the refund. However they never answered my request to explain what had gone wrong. I subsequently googled them and it appears to be a known issue with this company. As charging more than the agreed price on a Visa transaction is ILLEGAL, you should unfortunately avoid Hostelworld.

Very good accomodation, it was very clean and amazing and very friendly staff and very helpful.

I love this app because it gathers several hostels, making it easy to find the perfect one for each person. I love that there are chat groups from the city and the hostel we're going to, making it easy to meet and connect with people. It is a really intuitive and easy app. It's perfect that it doesn't charge the full cost of the accommodation.

One of the best hostels in Brisbane, they truly treated me like family, always helping and willing to assist. I'm very grateful for this hostel; everything is super clean.

Great hostel

Beware, thieves. My reservation for three months from now has been changed to a reservation for two days from now. Was it my mistake or theirs? The very next day, I took steps to cancel , but instead of responding, they debited the balance from my account. Several email exchanges did nothing to change the situation. Even though they are clearly breaking the law, they refuse to refund me, even though it is a clear mistake, followed by a refusal to allow me to cancel the day after the mistake! In short, it's a big scam. They will have to deal with my bank.

Asked all the right questions, filled all my request, and put us in a level that was best for our age.
