Chicken tikka . DONT
Bought a chicken tikka meal to try and it was tasteless, bland and quite boring . First and last purchase for me .

The Gym Kitchen receives a largely negative response from consumers, with many expressing disappointment in the quality and flavor of the meals. Reviewers frequently describe the chicken as bland and dry, with several meals lacking any substantial taste, leading to a perception of low-quality ingredients. Specific complaints highlight the sogginess of dishes like paella and the rubbery texture of chicken, which many find off-putting. However, a minority of customers appreciate the convenience and health aspects of the meals, noting that some options, like the chicken tikka, can be enjoyable when prepared with additional seasoning. Despite a few positive remarks about taste and healthiness, the overwhelming sentiment reflects dissatisfaction with the product quality. Overall, The Gym Kitchen struggles to meet customer expectations.

Just tried the tikka and it tastes fine, much better than your average microwave meal and way healthier. I only use ready meals if I'm rushed and dont have time for healthy food prep but I will be getting more of these.
Had a few things of theres and I'm yet to find somthing that is nice - all seems really low quality. I won't be trying any more to find one that's worthy of an additional star. Additionally a co-worker of mine had one of the wraps. You know it's bad when you hear quiet moans from the corner of the canteen, they just about kept it down.
I don't really understand the negative reviews, i have just recently tried some of the gym kitchen range and found them to be really tasty and full of flavour, my only suggestion would be to use wholemeal pasta in the pasta dishes.
I gave it one star, because I am being generous. The paella was a disaster. They just piled on the salsa, hoping for the best, but it tasted awful. The spaghetti carbonara wasn't much better; it was completely flavorless. At least the broccoli gave the dish some redeeming taste.
Pulled pork Mac n cheese, I’ve eaten some pure muck in my time, but this is a new low for me, seriously it’s just a tray of tasteless slop, a lot of the meals are pretty good, but this is an insult to food
Salt and pepper chicken, no taste whatsoever. Lidl high protein salt and pepper stunning compared to what I just ate
I love an affordable, high protein meal as much as the next person, but these meals are awful. The high protein aspect is obviously great, but eating it is not an enjoyable experience. The texture is extremely off putting, and there is little to no flavour there. And, as others have mentioned, the chicken is very rubbery. Ideal if you’re into working out and need the protein but don’t have time to cook a meal, but I’d still avoid it.
Regularly get these meals in the tesco meal deal and I have to say I'm very impressed, nice to have a high protein option with low calories that still taste good. Gets a thumbs up from me.
It's certainly cheaper than some online meal options like Simmer, but you can see why it's affordable. The food is quite bland, reminiscent of hospital food. I'm not dissing the NHS; they do an excellent job given their tight budget. However, I wouldn't recommend the gym kitchen if you still care about your taste buds..
I picked up the Gym Kitchen Carbonara from Asda because I’ve been searching for ages for some decent, healthy prepared food for one person. I’d happily be a regular customer if it was any good, but for £3.60… sorry, it’s bloody awful. I’m not fussy at all and I like most foods but this was something else. The chicken was like chewing on rubber gum, even after I air-fried it to make it crispy. I had one bite and gave up. Honestly, how is this still on the shelves? Now I get why it’s called Gym Kitchen… because eating this will help you lose weight and you won’t want to eat at all! 😂 I wanted to give it two stars for effort, but for the price and taste? Absolutely not. Luckily, I only bought one pack.
Just ate my 1st gym kitchen meal I must say I did find it tasty portion size just right for one ,but what let it down for me was the sauce although tasty was not enough for me made the meal very dry mainly the chicken
Tried 5 different ready meals and they are the 5 worst ready meals I've ever tried
Tried the chicken Tikka - Marinated chicken breast pieces with spiced brown rice, lentils and cauliflower topped with spring greens. It lacked flavour or spice and was very dry which made it quite difficult to eat, I gave up about half way through. I wont be buying again or trying any of their other meals.
Gym Kitchen Chicken and Mushroom Noodles. I bought these as I am trying to raise my protein levels for the gym. Awful. Like eating elastic bands in a rather enjoyable chicken soup. Advice. Use normal noodles and spend the money on putting the protein in the sauce!
I saw these "Gym Kitchen" dishes on Tesco's website. £2.50 per dish, great, I ordered 7 for the week. The marketing and presentation of the product is great, however as someone who was in prison some number of years ago, I would say this food is worse than prison slop and totally inedible. I has 5 of these dishes left and they all went in the bin where they belong. Never, ever again. Ugggh
What the? This is the second product I’ve picked up in hopes of something new being available for vegetarians. I tried the “piri piri grains” this time and was awful. 0/10. If you want something nice and you’re a real vegetarian, don’t pick up this, it tastes awful, I don’t think even a pig will want to go near it and they eat anything.
Tried 3 meal flavours as an alternative to aldi chilled ready meals and couldnt believe how tasteless they all were! Its like they're trying to make it taste bad. Might be healthy but not worth the sacrifice of bland food. Will go back to aldi meals which still taste decent in comparison.
