Inaccurate cost offer due to inaccurate interpretation
Pre trip all seemed good - asking for cross border fee to be added we were given this and told it was 32 euros, good all sorted. Then asked for snow chains/socks and they contacted Eurocar who said they would added to our booking - no mention of cost (or no cost). Orbit told us this was free so we, as the customer (who it appears is not always right) arrived knowing we had a car booked and all equipment and bookings in place. On our arrival we initially had to ask for the snow socks as they were nt on the booking and then had a standoff where they were going to refuse us anything if we did not pay a further 100Euro for the snow sock addition. We showed them the emails from Orbit saying they were free and were simply told they do not do this item free. We and more importantly they tried to contact Orbit about this cost to no avail. I had to sign for them as a legal need on the route we were travelling and was advised to take this up with both Orbit and Eurocar on our return. I have since then tried to show/explain to Orbit car hire that due to their misinterpretation due to not clarifying snow sock costs it cost me about an extra 33% fee on pickup from what was expected. I have been blamed by all parties for not contacting Orbit at the sales desk - we tried they were not contactable, I have been blamed for signing the document at the sales desk - we still had 3 hours of driving to go and we needed the equipment. We have been offered the 4.5Euro commission fee Orbit car hire make from each hire (according to them). So in the end we are at fault/penalised for questioning their interpretation of the phrase "In addition we confirm that the equipment"snow chains" has been added to your reservation"from Eurocar to Orbit and Orbit telling me "The agency informed us that they will provide all season tires with snow chains with the rental, free of charge." I am not a person to write a negative review BUT I am really fed up with the Teflon shouldered approach to customer service when they have made a mistake and are now refusing to recompense me the extra cost they blatantly told me was not there due to their customer service operative not confirming if the word added had a cost implication. So I thought it would be great from the beginning but the after care / "customer service" rectifying the problem they - not Eurocar caused is at best dishonest. Yes we signed the paperwork because with all the evidence in email trails it seemed the issue would be easily rectified with a bit of honesty and discretion at owning a mistake and maybe ensuring staff are more careful in their interpretation of words. I believe we were miss sold this aspect which started our holiday with an unpleasant extra and a need to have a questioning discussion with the sales desk having just landed in France.

We found the service excellent from start to finish. The customer service assistant who dealt with our booking was polite, efficient and very friendly. We would definitely hire a vehicle through Europcar in the future.

The 9 seater mini van was a Renault…
The 9 seater mini van was a Renault Traffic and it was fantastic with space and comfort for our golf trip , the staff and cooperation when our flight was changed to an earlier time was brilliant , we will definitely be using Orbit Car Hire again for future trips 😀
