Wir hatten für drei Wochen einen Dacia Duster 4x4 und haben eine sehr gute Erfahrung gemacht. Der Preis war im Verhältnis relativ günstig, der Shuttle vom/zum Flughafen ging sehr schnell und das Auto war in einem sehr guten Zustand!
Great check in and check out experience. Very helpful and informative, particularly wrt sending notes about returning car. The only reservation is about finding the pick up point at the airport. The written instructions were poor and it took some time to find the right location, separate from all the other car hire companies. They have a youtube and I would recommend that Lava state that it 'essential viewing' for customers as the pick up driver indicated that I was not the only customer who had the same issue. Stating that I should have looked at the youtube was a disappointing responce to my concern.
The vehicle was in great shape and withstood some very windy/stormy conditions with no problem. And the wifi worked everywhere we went. We drove all of south Iceland and camped along the way and it was very important that we had no issues and the lava car didn't let us down.
We huurden een Toyota aigo. Duidelijke afspraken en uitleg voordien, ook ivm verzekering. Foto's genomen voor- en nadien. De auto daags voordien nog gewassen en gestofzuigd. Geen problemen gehad met auto onderweg. Inchecken verliep eveneens vlot. Voor onze volgende Ijslandreis boeken we zeker terug bij hen !
Fin service og stor fleksibilitet. Også god kommunikation, herunder om tunnel-afgifter, parkeringsafgifter m.v. Når jeg ikke har givet firmaet 5 stjerner, er det fordi vi fik udleveret en bil med kun én nummerplads og langt flere skrammer end hvad der var registreret. Vi var sandt at sige noget bekymret for at blive "bonget" for disse mangler ved aflevering af bilen, men medarbejderen troede på os, og vi fik ikke en ekstra-regning. Det gav dog en del sommerfugle i maven, og vi sørgede selvsagt for foto-dokumentation etc.
Overall good experience and will recommend this company. The airport shuttle can be increased during flights arrival times as we had to wait for an hour as a single shuttle has to do all trips.
Very friendly and professional staff, & always willing to help. Car I chose was perfect for what we needed & it was an excellent car. We had a few hiccups with parking fines that we had already paid & Lava provided us with help and advice. Would definitely use these guy's again.
Precise and kind service that allowed us to enjoy our experience without worries. The shuttle service to and from the airport is also an added value. Bearing in mind that we did the Golden Circle in eight days, we did not encounter any problems with the vehicle: the car supplied respected the description provided by the site, was reliable and exceeded expectations in terms of road holding and handling
Great staff and nice new cars
Straightforward experience renting with Lava car rental. The shuttle service works reasonably well collecting from and delivering to the airport. We arrived and departed between 07:00 and 08:00 in both directions but there was only one small mini bus operating the shuttle with approximately 8 seats plus driver. If you are a larger party, this could easily delay transportation to /from the Lava office, especially if others are waiting in line. So add some extra time, as the turnaround for each shuttle run is about 15-20 mins - otherwise very positive experience.
Bad experience which cost us almost 3000€ in addition to the rental. At the office pick up, the agency employee told us to put diesel in the 4x4, insisting 3 times to put in "black fuel" (in Iceland fuels are indicated by 2 colors, the diesel labeled in Black and gasoline in Green) and especially not to put the Green one. Fail, it was the opposite, so car substitution on day 2 of the trip. The agency denies having told us this and refuses to make a commercial gesture despite the fact that this fault is shared (they told us with insistence the wrong information, and we didn't double check). Lesson of the day : don't trust blindly and check yourself, because if you have an issue you will always be wrong.

Had a fantastic journey around Iceland. I highly recommend renting a car with Lava: they have for sure a car that best suits your needs and the service is simply great. The driving was fantastic and made my trip. Can't wait to come back
