IXL Learning Reviews

I have been forced to use it for quite some years now ,it is bad. It discourages you from learning and instead of teaching you to get it right next time it deducts a ridiculous amount of points from your current amount. you need 100 points to pass and if your on 99 and get a question wrong it takes you back to 88 get another one wrong, 76, another? 65 and that's only 4 questions when it takes you almost 30 questions to get to 99. Terrible really I've grown to despise it.

I am a 8th grader and my opinion is that IXL is so frustrating!!! Like, when I get to 93 I bump down to 84!!! One time I had to do one IXL skill for A WHOLE DAY!!! This is so frustrating and I don’t recommend it!!!

I’m 11, and Canadian. When I was 9 (In grade 4) me and my mom wanted to find a learning app for homeschooling, we found ixl and decided to buy the membership. Yes it’s hard, but you need to learn from your mistakes and try again. You can’t expect to find an app that makes you a genius and way better at math, English etc, Because that doesn’t exist. You can’t just find something easier and then think that program is better because your actually doing it. You need discipline, when I went into grade 5 I got all A’s and all my classes were easy, BECAUSE I USED IXL. Stop whining and crying because you got a question wrong; LEARN FROM IT AND TRY AGAIN. I was also crying when I was on 90 and then it bumped me down to 80, because I got the question wrong. But it’s not like I gave up, I kept going because I’m not a crybaby. Listen I’m 11 and I see 13 year olds cry about this online, and also khan academy is way worse than this, It’s too easy. So stop sponsoring khan academy in almost every bad review. And don’t be discouraged, if you get super angry scream in your pillow and try again. I would recommend using paper for some questions too. Parents, if you read this give your child a break, that’s mostly how to calm down him/her. And don’t baby them, that’s why they are always complaining. I learned most of my grammar and English from ixl too lol. There is no shortcuts in life you either take the long road or don’t do anything at all.

Very VERY VERY Bad. When I'm adding decimals, It is not straight it is wonky and I get it wrong. Ixl's rating should be 0!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And it deducts more points than giving you more points. IT is not fun at all. It is the most discouraging app in the UK.

I think Ixl is a website for lazy parents and teachers who doesn't like their kids. It makes them cry and become stressed.

I have been using IXL for school homework and homeschooling for 2 1/2 years. Over all, I think this app/website has helped me LOADS during my Worldschooling/Homeschooling Journey. While I do understand that many parents and students alike are quite unhappy with the way IXL Gives you and takes away points, I think it has been rated unfairly. Yes, it is quite annoying- or even infuriating- that it takes you 10 points back for one mistake (for I have experienced that plenty of times), but all that is forgotten when you can proudly tell your friends and family everything that IXL has helped you learn and discover. Also, the grading system works that way because then it can make Sure that you have Thoroughly learnt the topic

i have been doing ixl for a very long time now and i have been living a torture.i have experienced times were ixl marked a correct answer as wrong, they dont explain the lesson only when you get a question wrong they will explain it awfully.i recommend no one gives money to ixl as it is just a waste of time and money and is very STRESSFUL!

Complete torture. Grading system sucks. Slaps way to much questions and recommendations in your face. Lets say your score is in the 90's and you miss one question, say bye-bye to your points and say hello to more stupid questions. Also, their slogan is bull. It should be torture that slaps you in the face. And if you are trying to get to 100%, don't. Their award is cheesy and stupid. It's meant for little kids, not teens.

so bad, people learn from mistakes not by getting teached when a question wrong also i get some questions right and marks me wrong, i do not learn anything from ixl even study ladder is better you do not have to pay amd ixl you have to pay. you made my sister to do more than two hundred questions about that the smart score is totally wrong my sister did that many questions and when she gets a question right it gives her one point and when i am good at one subject but have not mastered it [only the basics] i quickly finish the smart score does not adopt to my skill probably other random person mabey the stupid creator of ixl who should have been dead because every one knows that the creator of ixl is a mean, harsh monster.

You get up to 95 and it brings you back down to 72! 🤬 Really bad site needs to get gone 🤬

I think IXL is a waste of time, in school they make me use it a lot and it makes me miserable I cry a lot because if you are in 99 and you get one question wrong it brings you down to 72, it is simply not fair, I spent hours trying and trying to get to 100 but it is useless I prefer learning a different way because I always lose my temper with IXL and end up not learning anything at all.

This is just really stressful. There is one question and it gives one answer and then another! What is this?! Disgrace!

The point ratio is most likely going to be +8/-1 nobody likes this and i dont either. the bonus stage gives you more questions than the amount of questions you got wrong. people get mad at this and i also do get mad at this. this is honestly the worst app i have ever used. my friends hate it and im sure every kid does too. you guys should also see your replys to the app and should make some changes. making somebody do more than enough questions than what they got wrong is really stressing and just stupid. I'd rather use Khan Academy and im sure everybody else wants that.

Just joined so my opinion might change over time. After weeks in lockdown my 5yo haA exhausted the Mathletics website exercise given to his class. I decided to subscribe to ixl despite the reviews. He is really competitive, is a perfectionist and hate to lose. Luckily when he stays in an exercise he does manage to reach 100% even if he does get some answers wrong at times. I disabled the timer option in settings, I assume it is what allows him to get his points back when he makes a mistake. You do see the percentage going down when a mistake is made but with the timer down the questions just continue until he reaches 100%. He’s delighted with the rewards and actually starts new exercises without being asked... I’m also like the option to be able to junior infant English but senior infant maths and not be restricted to one level...

They are not trying to teach anyone! They are just trying to cheat people off with false advertising! "We make learning fun" Yeah, sure you do! I can not believe what they are doing. Here is what they're asking for, get 9 correct in a row, get nine out of ten correct. In the ¨challenge zone¨ you can go back down from 90 to 70. This is bad quality. they don teach you anything but self-control. If you haven't learned self control in the past moth, You'll have rage issues.

It marks some right answers as wrong and takes away a lot of points i hate it!!!!!!!!!!!

IXL is an evil website that needs to go I can't believe how many generations of students have to suffer! Think of all the first graders think of the third Graders and second graders even the Kindergarteners for crying out loud! You know what you guys you don't deserve the star! I'm done I should sue you guys with all the torture you put my little brother through! I Hate you guys! Ugh.Unacceptable!

This is so bad. The smart score drops you from 95 to 81
