To Halfords I want to make a complaint I ordered a bike on Tuesday 29/04/25 order number 2228613897. I needed the bike built that day so selected that option, I left the page for a second and when I returned a more convenient location appeared saying I could collect today at Edge Lane Liverpool. I realized after I booked that this option does not include having the bike built. I called customer service straight away and said look it’s really urgent, can the bike please get built today. They said they’d pass on the message. I arrived at the store that evening and they were open for 2 more hours. The guy said he didn’t get the message but he can probably get it done today. I hung around the area for nearly 2 hours and returned, he said sorry I cannot build it today. (Okay fair enough it was my mistake online.) He said it can be done tomorrow. I was meant to be leaving Liverpool that night but he assured me it could. I stayed in Liverpool an extra night and returned the next day and the manager Fran said he didn’t receive the message from customer service and despite what the other employee said on Tuesday, it also can not be made today. I told him okey can it be built for tomorrow? He said yes, I thought about hanging around Liverpool an extra night, I said I might go and ask another bike store can they put it together for me but if I’m not back for it you can have it ready for tomorrow? He said ask the other bike shop and then call customer service and tell them I want it built for tomorrow. ( Why did I have to call customer service I already stated it was urgent and wanted it built) So an hour later I called customer service and asked please can my bike be built for tomorrow, Customer service put me on hold for a while and came back and told me they cannot get through to the store, do I want them to try again, I said yes, he puts me on hold again and gets back to me saying ‘good news your bike is ready to be picked up’ (but still in the box! Clearly not listening to me, not reading the previous interaction I had with customer service that wasn’t passed on or probably not even recorded) I said okay this is painful I’ll just cancel. I cancelled my order Wednesday afternoon and by Friday morning I still hadn’t received cancellation confirmation. I’m broke and walking miles every day. I wanted that Email for peace of mind. I called up Friday and said I still haven’t received my cancellation confirmation. customer service told me ‘Your cancellation hasn’t gone through but your bike has been built you can pick it up today’ I’m in Wales but the bike is still urgent, I said okay I’ll come today but can you please confirm with the store as I have to travel very far and I can’t afford any mistakes. They confirmed with the store it’s ready and I can pick it up today. So, I spent £10.50 on a taxi to the train station then paid £15.50 on a return train. 10 minutes before my train arrives and I receive an Email saying ‘YOUR ORDER HAS BEEN CANCELLED’ what a kick in the teeth I cannot afford to lose $26!!!! I couldn’t afford to buy the bike again. I'd have to wait for my refund which I received today. So, there’s a serious problem with your customer service, the first message did not get through, the guy at the store was wrong about fixing it the first day, the manager was wrong for weirdly getting me to call customer service when I told him to his face that I urgently need it. And the worst of it, the customer service not communicating to the correct person to not let the cancellation go through or at least finding out if it even can be stopped before I travelled a long way and spent money which I clearly explained. I also used words like urgent or emergency from the first call. I am now stuck in the countryside an hour walk from the nearest town. I want to buy a bike I do not like second hand, I don’t want to buy from Halfords there’s no way I’m buying from you unless you help me out here. I’m down $26 and called 4/5 times and hung around Liverpool for nothing. No one is communicating. no body cares.
