Funksion Events claim to be inclusive – our experience was the opposite. Don’t use this company.
We booked a life drawing session with Funksion Events as part of a hen weekend, expecting a fun and inclusive experience. What we got was the complete opposite. When we arrived, the model didn’t greet us or speak a word – he simply walked out. A representative from the company called and told us that the model was refusing to do his job and pose because we had a mixed-gender group. The model’s behaviour was discriminatory, and it was clear he had no intention of treating the group with respect or professionalism. No suitable alternative was offered, no apology was given, and no responsibility was taken. The bride’s day was completely ruined. And Funksion Event is refusing to refund us for the service that was not delivered. What makes this worse is that Funksion Events claim on their website that: “Our priority is to create an all-inclusive environment for people to flourish irrespective of their gender, age, gender identity, status, sexual orientation, disability, race, gender expression or religion.” They also say: “Funktion Events are a proud ally of the LGBTQ+ community” and “We focus on creating a safe space for celebrations.” In our experience, they failed to live up to any of these promises. We were denied a service because of our sex and gender. That’s not just poor service – in 2025, that’s potentially illegal under the Equality Act. If you value inclusion, professionalism, and getting what you paid for, I’d strongly suggest looking elsewhere.
