It all started promising with the team communicating well and very keen to take on the car, and having bought via this platform in the past I was confident in the site.
Unfortunately my listing was then hit on the last day with a false bidder who placed the highest bid and disappeared. It seems very odd that buyers can register to bid with no card details verified but I am sure these things happen. However on that final day, the Car and classic team failed to answer phone calls or communicate with me at all and actually reduced the bid on the site, on the final hour of the listing, completely ruining any chances of a sale for my car. I have never seen anything like that before and it made me question the trustworthiness of the site.
I was appeased by the team and encouraged to re list, and having spent hundreds already to get the listing I went ahead.
As I thought the second time didn't gather as much momentum because people must have seen what happened the first time. So on the night before the final day I received a call from staff encouraging me to lower the reserve by £2000 to encourage bidding. I accepted a reduced premium and did so. however this action was not taken that night and I had to ring several times before an answer the next day and was told he had been in-between meetings and tried to laugh it off. I felt a total lack of concern or consideration for my situation and was left feeling very disappointed with the customer care of the entire process. Alas by the time they actioned this lowering of reserve it was only a couple of hours left in the listing, no more bids placed and the car sold very cheaply.
It was only when speaking to the buyer on collection that I found out Car and Classic now charge premiums on both the buyer and the seller which I was quite shocked with as this had been carefully not mentioned at all in the listing process when I asked how it all works. I was given the impression that only sellers pay the 6%+VAT, however the buyer had to pay roughly the same. I felt this should have been made clear before the listing process as I feel I would have gone elsewhere. Instead they send a link to get your money right from the off.
In short, I was left feeling overcharged, undervalued and overlooked. I will not be using this service again.
