Browns Restaurants have gone down hill big time since they left Brighton. We will no longer go there!
Browns in Kingston Overpriced cold food with sloppy service
Visited Brown's in Manchester for a pre-theatre meal on New Year's Day. First was the range of choice that despite my dietary requirements, did not make me feel that I was missing out. Food was excellent, with portions just the right size to leave you satisfied but not stuffed. However, the prompt for this review was not the food, but the outstanding service. The restaurant was busier than expected considering the date (and the atrocious weather) but drinks and meals were still delivered promptly. All the serving staff were young, attentive and positively beaming. It is a shame that such is the general state of hospitality, that service with a smile is considered the exception rather than the norm. Nevertheless they made our meal a delight, and set the tone for the rest of our evening. Thank you!
My daughter love their seabass and I like Greg's negroni, always great service, atmosphere and friendly team. Will be back soon!
First visit to the Browns in Exeter since it took over from Harvester as our pre Christmas meal out and we were extremely disappointment. I’ve given it two stars simply because of our kind and polite waitress. Given menus and sat and decided food only to be told half of the food wasn’t available. Waited an age for starters to come out and really expected more for the price! Luke warm at best and not at all worth the cost. Waited another age for mains which weren’t much to right home about either, warm enough but dry chip. Waitress was decent about it but given 50% off was a saving grace! Apparently the head of kitchen left after only 4weeks, explains a lots. We enjoyed our cheap and cheerful and value for money Harvester way better. Won’t be back sadly and wouldn’t recommend either.
This is not the same place used to be. It was one of my best places to go with friend for a lovely meal. Unfortunately this time I was left speechless by the whole experience. It was awkward situation for me as I was the one responsible for choosing the restaurant! from beginning to the end was disastrous. Slow service, food from a'la carte not available. Main meal clearly was re-heated in a microwave. Shocking desserts- "cheese board" extremely poor with 3 biscuits and 4 slices of just standard cheese. It wasn't served as a board but just on the white standard plate with very poor presentation. Brownie was absolutely terrible . It was very thin square something looking like a square sausage with scoop of some tasteless ice-cram. This is not the Browns I know. What's going on? £345 for 2 course dinner for two and 3 course for other two is well overpriced for the food we have had. Please note they charge £40 for bottle of standard and very average Prosecco. Quality of food should be improved as a matter of urgency. Staff should be more professional and attentive. Improvement to cleanliness of toilets required. Bring back old Brown's. I won't be returning anytime soon.
Visit on 3rd December Im 82 and chair leg broke under me throwing me to floor,Management not interested in my welfare since visit. On day food served cold ,microwaved, came back food still cold, plate warm.I would not go back to Browns again I would rather go to a homeless persons soup kitchen
Second visit to Browns in Sutton Coldfield and yet again the service was terrible 😞 and food was not great to say the least! Had to wait 10 mins before my young daughter was served a simple pasta dish, whilst mine and my husband’s had been served. No steak knife provided, or cutlery for my dish (this occurred on my first visit too). Cocktail ordered was not even a full flute, the parsnips (beef blade dish) were rock hard and very dry beef, fries (with steak) were stale as if they had been cooked some time ago. I thought to visit a few weeks after my first visit (which was a quiet week evening) to give the restaurant the benefit of doubt as I thought my initial visit issues might just have teething issues, but unfortunately not. When I asked the waitress for extra jus, she didn’t even know what this meant!!! Definitely my last visit and would jrecommend people to not waste their hard earned money on this venue
Had roast in Ascot. Potatoes cold and hard. Complained. Redid exactly the same. When spoke to manager said that was required temp! What a load of rubbish! Poor food, over priced! Head office do not respond to complaints!
We visited late afternoon Sat 7th Dec. While busy to overflowing Rob, our waiter, spent sufficient time understanding our allergy demands. The resulting staters and main courses were cooked to perfection. Full credit to Rob and to Brown’s. We will return.
Table booked for 5.30 but had to wait quite a long time before it was ready. Service after that was super slow. Whilst still waiting for desert the floor manager told us we had to leave at 7.30. We explained that we still didn't have our deserts and his response was, "well you still have to leave in 10 mins."
Had the most amazing meal in the manchester branch. Could not thank the servers enough. Were amazing through the whole night and the cocktails were expectional
The staff were excellent, but there were a few issues with the food. 1. I ordered prawn and crab linguine. It was quite tasteless and couldn't detect any crab amongst my 6 prawns 2. Creme brulee with berries was ordered. It came with no berries 3. White Americano coffee was ordered. It was served black. I asked for some hot milk It was served cold It was very noisy in the restaurant making general conversation on our table of 5 very difficult. A disappointing visit
Went for a pre theatre meal and had a great meal and service. Waitress name was Ada and she was very attentive.
The vibrant decor and warm lighting created a wonderful atmosphere. I sampled the mixed platter as an appetizer, which allowed me to taste a variety of dishes, each one better than the last. The highlight of my meal was the chicken korma—creamy, nutty, and aromatic, it was simply divine. The dessert selection was equally impressive; I opted for the coconut barfi, which was sweet and rich. The staff was knowledgeable and passionate about the food, enhancing my experience even further. I can't wait to return!
I purchased a gift card from the Browns website and was overcharged. When I contacted Browns, they informed me that their gift cards are outsourced to mabgiftcards and advised me to reach out to them directly. I contacted Mabgiftcards but received no reply or acknowledgment. I followed up with Browns again, but they were still unable to help and only said they had forwarded my complaint to Mabgiftcards. Once again, no response or acknowledgment. I would recommend avoiding this service, as if anything goes wrong, no one seems to take responsibility or show any interest in helping.
Have had 2 visits to Browns in Covent Garden in last 5 weeks. 1 time 4 of us and second time 12 of us, spent nearly £1500. All meal choices excellent, service excellent. However we won't go back again as we weren't given the choice to pay in cash. First time I pointed out that website said preferred card so paid cash but told no change?! Second time said definitely not be able to pay in cash. Think very short sighted to refuse cash and shame as the food, ambience, and smiling helpful staff all makes for a lovely time. I know some may think what difference if all good but I think we should be given freedom of choice and be able to use currency before it disappears forever and all our experiences are shared like the whereabouts of a cat with a GPS collar! Just my view.
Would have been a 3.5 based on the food but my waitress bought this all the way down. Service was terrible. Had to get her attention 40 mins after finishing the meal to order dessert and as we wanted more drinks. After they took dessert away after 45mins(yes we timed this) we got up to ask another staff member for the bill and card machine so we could continue our evening somewhere else (we tried to alert or waitress several times saying hey or excuse me or waving we were ignored people around us even turned around as they heard us). All in all a sad experience. The food was ok. I had a rotten potato in my roast (literally black) and the stuff was a dry rock.
Sarah can’t thank you enough for a fantastic service and helping us with our choice on the menu can’t wait to go back again all the Staff are amazing
Great atmosphere and friendly staff.
First time I’ve been to Browns restaurant in Sheffield and I was so impressed , the place itself is beautiful and the meal absolutely delicious. The service was good and they were very friendly I will definitely be going back soon !
