Review summary

Hyatt receives overwhelmingly negative feedback from customers, with many expressing disappointment in the quality of service and accommodations. Reviewers frequently describe Hyatt hotels as misrepresenting themselves, with claims of deceptive practices related to reservations and fees. Common complaints include issues with room cleanliness, erroneous charges, and unhelpful staff, leading to a perception that the brand does not meet its advertised standards. However, there are a few positive remarks, particularly highlighting the quality of certain hotels and the commendable service from individual staff members like Dominick in reservations. Despite some guests appreciating the hotel facilities, the overall sentiment is marred by significant dissatisfaction regarding customer service and value for money.

Hyatt reservations LIED

I called Hyatt and made reservation, when making that reservation I clearly stated that I had a Hyatt Gift Card to use. I asked if I could use it and if he needed the info. The man on the phone said, great just present it at check in. Well, I checked in today and the Hyatt Vacation Club will not honor Hyatt gift certificate. I am here for 2 night with my children and only came here under the impression that my $400 gift certificate would be honored. Manny the manager refused it. I called Hyatt corporate and they refuse to honor the gift card even when an employee of Hyatt made the reservation for me and said that I could Use my gift card. I was on the phone with them for 2 hours…the best they offered me was a night free. Which is nice but I’m still paying $245 for 2 nights when I was supposed to have most of it covered. I asked corporate how I am supposed to make a reservation and get correct information and they said to call Hyatt. That’s what I did to make this reservation initially. I also asked how do I find out where I can use this gift card and the man on the phone gave me a whole runaround. I’m not even sure an online Hyatt gift card is valid anywhere. Just FYI Hyatt is super shady about gift cards and gift card uses and I would not trust them with my money or vacation. Also Hyatt corporate has zero empathy and zero compassion and has taken not much responsibility. Also, the customer service representatives are very good at gaslighting….”I am sorry you are so upset” Is the apology I get from them. This is the apology I should receive, “ “We seriously messed up. We are incredibly sorry and we are happy to take your $400 gift card because our employees that we would”

About Murano Hyatt Centric

About Murano Hyatt Centric We were given the keys to a dirty, uncleaned room. Despite the hotel promising in an email on July 1 to refund my son, he has still not received the €223 compensation or the €100 deposit. I personally received my refund on June 30, but my son’s refunds remain unpaid. The hotel now ignores emails, and while the manager offers apologies, no progress has been made. Booking.com claims they are waiting for the hotel, while the hotel claims the case is closed. This situation has gone on for far too long. I have no choice but to file a complaint with consumer protection authorities.

Deceptive Sales Tactics and Zero Accountability

Most likely this review might be taken down, but I still want to share my experience. Hyatt has a subsidiary called Hyatt Vacation Club, and unfortunately, there’s no proper place online to leave a review about them. During the sales process, their representatives were not transparent — a lot of important details were hidden or misrepresented. Later, when I tried to cancel the membership and was even willing to leave my down payment with them, I was transferred between departments endlessly. One team would promise to call back, another would say “it’s not our department,” and eventually you end up on a line that no one ever answers. It feels completely unprofessional and misleading. I truly believe Hyatt should take responsibility for how their affiliated company treats customers.

The Hyatt place North Houston-stay away…

The Hyatt place north advertises they have food and a bar. That is a joke. No food available- so Uber Eats is your option - and the bar is a shelf behind the front desk with a few beers in display. The entire places stinks like it’s been saturated with some super chemical deodorant. The gym is falling apart. There is a pelaton with only clip in pedals. And the adjust levers as mostly broken. The free weight had 3 of the 20 only. The rooms while modern looking also stink and gave me a headache , plus the hallways have zero insulation. The staff were useless and rude all at the same time. Stay away from these places. Yah you can save some money, but it’s a huge difference in how you feel and enjoy the place. The bed however was decent.

I stayed at Secrets Hotel Villamil, Paguera, Mallorca, Spain

I stayed at Secrets, Villamil Resort & Spa, Peguera, Spain with my Husband, son & SIL. All the public area were very clean until I went to the pool area. The whole area was very dirty, leading me to complain. Nothing like the video they show on their website. The sun beds were very dirty with bird poo marks all over them. The tables between the sunbeds were absolutely filthy. The whole area looked as if it had been forgotten. By the final two days of my visit, it was hard to find a plate without chips in them at breakfast. The food was good, rooms fairly clean but nothing was as I would expect from a 5* Hotel. I paid 6505,92€ for two double deluxe rooms, i Excluding taxes and the Hotel did not, in my opinion warrant the cost of the rooms. I made a complaint to Antonio who looked after customers, before I left as there was no guidance for the elderly explaining that you had to use a QR Code to access what entertainment there was. Nobody told us this and I asked Antonio to explain to elderly guests that you need to use a QR Code to access everything about the Hotel on arrival. My husband was unwell for a few days of our visit but, the TV had mostly German channels. The English can expect to get maybe 4 channels to watch. Not worth the money in my opinion. I have photos to back up my review but, am not sure how to upload them.

My husband and I had a reservation for…

My husband and I had a reservation for this week. I needed to cancel because he has cancer and took a turn for the worst. I called the hotel in Canton to cancel. I was told they would still be charging me for the 2 nights stay even though I explained the situation. I was told I could call back and speak to a manager which I did. The manager told me she would credit 1/2 my money but that's all she could do. Next, I contact corporate asking to assist me with the other 1/2. I was told they can get involved with a decision may by a hotel. I stayed at this hotel before enjoyed our stay and that was why we were going back. But I will never stay at a Hyatt again. We were staying at another hotel during this trip and also had to cancel. Once I explained why we were cancelling they refunded our money with out any hassle.

Disgusting

Just stayed at the Hyatt house by Hyatt in Orlando Florida across from universal studios resort... Stayed here with my wife and 3 children ages 6 8 and 11. We stayed Friday night and Saturday night , checked our Sunday morning. I had trouble picking a hotel as I've never stayed in the Orlando area and we had plans to go to universal on Saturday. We drove in from Bradenton Friday afternoon, 3pm check in time is what they state all over the internet.... we had to wait in the lobby while everyone that came in after us got assigned a room right away, the front desk attendants were actually nice younger people... but we found out our room was delayed because "some drawers on the dressers came off track " ... we waited 45 minutes until that was fixed and we were finally able to go up to our room. Room 422 we were given. Upon arrival to this room I walked through it , the shower curtain looked like it had been destroyed by a small animal like a cat or something, those drawers they postponed us for still jammed and half on track and to top it off My children sat on the bunk beds and quickly noticed someone's old Pez dispenser , a bra strap , and 3 open bags of chips shoved between the bunk bed and wall. I don't write reviews, nor do I typically complain, but I spent 400$ for 2 nights at this place ...(180 a night ) so I walked downstairs and asked for either upgrade to a suite (I offered to pay if they had any available ) or a new room. They said they were all booked except for another room 4 floors up that met the same criteria we had originally booked.. I obliged l, frustrated but surely the second room wouldn't be as bad condition as the first. 824 the replacement room, Same layout, just flip flopped from the last room, it was all going okay as my wife reassured me "it's just a place to sleep we're only here for a weekend" that's fine I took a deep breath and decided we'd just grin and bare it. Spent alot more time out of the hotel Friday so I could get my mind off of it and my kids could have fun (Orlando is extremely exciting and has a lot more complicated freeways than Bradenton where we stayed prior ) we return Friday evening and sleep. Saturday morning we wake up and go to universal studios epic universe. Great time tons of walking. Tons of fun. Return back to the hotel and go to sleep. Hardware screws under the bunk beds, wood paneling left underneath them , old vapes under the entertainment center of the Tv... I wake up Sunday morning (today ) to go shower while everyone else is asleep and prepare to run down to the breakfast they offer....as I'm met in the shower by a cockroach.... not a small one , not a big massive hissing one like on TV but a cockroach none the less... This is the final straw for me , I have reached my boiling point.... I am waking my children up and getting the heck out of here. I will NEVER stay at this hotel again nor will I stay at any HYATT HOUSE or HYATT owned hotel, absolutely DISGUSTING. I have photos of the cockroach and shower curtain aswell as the chip bags behind the bunk bed if anyone needs to see them (will post if allowed on review ) Carlo Pipia , stayed August 22-24th 2025

Water park 😔

Grand Hyatt Dubai : Lovely hotel and pool, breakfast was great only issues we had were the noise of the work for opening of water park, we actually picked this hotel to enjoy the water park but the vague opening date was disappointing (2025?) also I contacted the hotel prior to arriving asking if there was any special offers because it was my wife’s birthday on the 7th. I got an email saying that you could provide a birthday cake and some flowers at no extra cost, cake amazing, beautiful flowers and reception provided a bottle of wine but on departure I was charged for the cake and flowers, maybe a problem with translation. Still enjoyed hotel pool , staff were amazing from housekeeping to all the staff in and around the hotel ,brilliant !

Long on promise, short on delivery

Stayed at a high-end property in the Palm Springs area. The pool area looked positively trashed by the end of the day, with no apparent attempts to keep the space neat and clean. The cabanas were nice but the service was intermittent and the food was both limited in choice and overpriced. It didn't feel high-end at all. (And, I will add that after a year of trying to get any value out of the Case Hyatt card, I've canceled the card and given up entirely on the hotel brands -- the "free night" rewards promised by the card turn out to be next to impossible to actually redeem at any property)

Beautiful resort with great structure and kind staff, but inconsistent service and limited value for the Preferred Club experience.

Secrets Tides Punta Cana – Preferred Club Stay: 6 nights / 5 days (Couple) Rating: ★★★★☆☆ (7.5 / 10) ⸻ We stayed for six nights as a couple at Secrets Tides Punta Cana – Preferred Club. The arrival experience was very good: check-in took place in a private, air-conditioned lounge with a bar, and we were welcomed with a refreshing eucalyptus towel — a great first impression. Staff at reception were polite and professional. The room was spacious, modern, and comfortable, with an excellent bed and a stylish bathroom featuring double showers and strong water pressure. However, the water temperature fluctuated at times. The private WC looked elegant but lacked an exhaust fan, bidet spray, and proper privacy sealing. Our “Ocean View” room actually had only a partial view, as the pool and beach structures blocked most of the sea. Room service was quick and courteous, but housekeeping was inconsistent — even after several requests, water bottles were not replenished automatically, and we had to call daily to restock the minibar. This is not what you’d expect from a five-star Preferred Club category. The food overall was good, with the Japanese restaurant “Meraki” standing out as the best in both taste and presentation. The main buffet restaurant was also very good, offering a wide and fresh selection with excellent service. Restaurant staff were always kind and smiling but could use more training and initiative — drinks and service often took longer than expected. The Preferred Club pool bar looked nice but offered limited and basic cocktails. Bartenders didn’t know classic drinks like the Lychee Martini or Fitzgerald, and drinks were often served warm. The lounge bar at check-in was much better. Wines and sparkling wines were simple, and Preferred guests received the same beverages as everyone else during meals — disappointing for a higher-tier experience. Premium bottles were available for purchase but priced three times or more above U.S. retail. The beach was clean and well maintained, with constant waiter service and plenty of loungers. The sea at Uvero Alto is darker and rougher than in Bávaro, but the area is peaceful and pleasant. The gym was modern and air-conditioned but small, with a reduced number of treadmills and bikes. Entertainment at night was weak, though the performers were enthusiastic and friendly. It’s also worth mentioning that the tipping culture is very present. Service tends to be faster and more attentive when tips are offered upfront, even in the Preferred Club area. Overall, the resort has excellent facilities and genuinely kind staff, but there’s a clear lack of training and proactivity, especially in restaurants and bars. Despite being pleasant and relaxing, the experience does not fully justify the premium charged for the Preferred Club. ⸻ ⭐ Final Rating: 7.5 / 10 ✅ Great structure, comfortable rooms, and friendly staff. ❌ Needs better staff training, more drink variety, and clearer value for Preferred Club guests.

I checked in 23rd July

I checked in 23rd July, at check in i was told it was mandatory that card detlails be given but no charge would be made, even after stating this was a pre-paid room. I have since spoken to a colleague who checked in also at the hotel, he advised his card details where not asked for at check in. Taking my card detlails in the first place was a totally unwarranted act. I checked out of the hotel 25th July and noticed a charge on my card for £142.32 - this charge was unautherised and not required as the room was pre-paid. After reporting this, I was advised a refund would be made 3-5 working days - this is unacceptable to get my own money back which was took without permission. I will now also encur bank charges as a result of an unaccounted for payment being deducted from my card. To summarise, my card details should never have been taken in the first place as not nescassary but advised it was (I want these details removed from your system) and then after to find an unautherised charge on my card. Hi Brett, Has this complaint been logged ? . Brett Thurston (front office supervisor) is now claiming no money has been taken via email, after advising by phone this would be refeunded

Refund

I stayed at the Grand Hyatt in Istanbul. They erroneously charged my debit, rather than credit, card for the security. Their mistake. They then refund me around £30 less because of the exchange rate. When I complained, their answer was that their financial system couldn't cope with the refund. Seriously !?!?!

Review of Unlimited Vacation Club and Hyatt

Review of Unlimited Vacation Club — Avoid This Service Our experience with Unlimited Vacation Club has been deeply disappointing and, in our view, highly misleading. What was presented as a simple and flexible travel opportunity quickly turned into a series of withheld details, contradictory information, and shifting conditions. During a two-hour presentation in January 2025, we were offered a travel certificate as an alternative to becoming full members. We initially declined because we had no intention of traveling in 2025. The sales representative then assured us — clearly and repeatedly — that we would have two full years to use the certificate. Based on that assurance, we accepted. What we were not told is that we had only five days to cancel the certificate. We discovered this fact in November 2025 — far too late to act on it. Throughout the year, we called multiple times to confirm that the certificate had been activated. Every single time, a different agent told us it was already activated and that everything was fine. Last week, we finally learned the truth: The certificate was never activated. We must travel before January 2026 or the certificate becomes invalid — not the two years we were promised. New conditions were added, including a required 2-to-4-hour sales presentation to join Unlimited Vacation Club. We have been calling repeatedly to request a refund, but we are still waiting for a resolution. After reading other travelers’ reviews, it is clear that our experience is not unique. The pattern is consistent: crucial information withheld, inconsistent answers from staff, and conditions that change over time. Our strong recommendation: avoid Unlimited Vacation Club. If you do not want to deal with misleading sales tactics, unclear terms, or unexpected obligations, do not get involved with this program. The risk of being trapped in a situation you did not agree to is simply too high.

This is purely a review of their customer service

This is purely a review of their customer service and policies. I wanted to order a gift card for someone to use in one of their European locations. I couldn’t find this option online so spoke with one of their customer service agents who advised that the only gift card they offer is valid across all locations including Europe. I proceeded to purchase the gift card and when the recipients went to redeem it they were told it wasn’t valid. I spoke with customer services showing them the conversation I had previously had and whilst they apologised for the incorrect information, they advised they would be unable to give a refund. They advised they would take action against the staff member who incorrectly advised me and offered no alternative other than the recipients flying themselves to the americas to redeem the card. I felt very let down by this as the staff member who advised me was not rude, just ill-advised and I didn’t appreciate them wanting to use him as a scapegoat for their lack of willingness to find a solution. Very disappointing as the individual establishments themselves are held to such a high standard, but they clearly are just happy to snatch money and not hold accountability for their mistakes.

Absolutely terrible brand

I have now stayed in the brand twice . Park Hyatt Saigon . Great Scotland Yard hotel London . Both 5 star properties. With out going into alll the detail , we encountered poor customer service in both . But the most concerning part . We were charged £150 for a meal in the park lounge Saigon that we never had , it was on checking my bill on check out I noticed this . Oh we apologise we will get that taken off . In London I was charged £423 at 3am in the morning for our room when this had already been paid prior to our stay . Oh we’re sorry I’ll get that refunded. Makes me laugh they can take the money , with no authorisation may I add straight away but a week later and I’m still waiting for the refund !!! All they seem to do is give points as compensation. I have 49,000 points stuck in my account as the hotels we want to stay in you can’t use points or the room category is the basic one, which we never stay in . Absolutely terrible brand . I woukd advise to stick with Accor or IHG .

Toller Service

Go elsewhere

Having retired in 2013 & travelling extensively for the last 12 years. Hyatt Hotels are without a doubt a 2* star Hotel/Resort chain masquerading as a 4/5* chain. Consistently their hotels & hospitality lets you down when you are staying with them. The UVC a separate part of Hyatt is nothing but a con & you should avoid it at all costs. Marriott,Accor,Hilton & IHG are by far the better option. Hyatts 1.9 rating just speaks for itself, the management & staff at every Hotel/Resort basically just sweep complaints under the carpet & are not interested in what the Guests have to say or their safety. World of Hyatt and UVC: Deception 101

World of Hyatt and UVC join forces to deceive customers and advertise false promises. We have consistently been disappointed with our reservations, abandoned on the property without rooms for hours, promised upgrades that were never fulfilled, and misled into believing it would get better. It never does. AVOID BUYING INTO THIS VACATION CLUB.
