My experience was pre-lockdown, but with two Toba Beat Bikes needing servicing and repair, i have never encountered a ruder and less pleasant business owner. His staff did their best, but Scott was unspeakable. Three times bust, not at all surprising. I'm using August 2023 as the date, but this company and Director have form.

Glad that the review in May 2022 said that they're in receivership AGAIN. I got caught in the last one and had to use chargeback to recover my money. I believed that there was a large County Court Judgement at that time. There was an even earlier dismantelling of a company, making it 3 times now. I cannot believe that Directors can behave this wey witout sanction. Experience may have been 2020

Its March 2023. After 15 months bike riding and 2000 miles I have to say the bike is great. Solid reliable and robust. Belt drive is quiet and excellent. Tires and tubes puncture resistant. The only gripe is that the company went bust. so no guarantee for anything and I could have been £2k out of pocket if they'd gone bust before I got my bike. 3rd time in voluntary receivership sounds dodgy doesnt it especially when bike sales were booking during COVID. I bought the 11G Touring in December. It just developed slipping gears and I tried to contact Scott but got Helen. I left a message but no-one called back. I went to the works in Loughborough and was shocked to see the place boarded up and a receivers notice pinned to the door. Seems odd that in a bike boom this business went bump. I see theres a history of this too. I guess these guys will resurface in another guise soon. Watch this space. But beware. Be careful with your money and there are no product guarantees.

Called up for a replacement key for a BH bike he sold us before lockdown and he was rude. Obviously went bankrupt and isn't interested anyone he has sold bikes to before. Thanks for your help. We wont buy from you again. Be warned, if he isn't getting your money he isn't interested in helping. Very unpleasant

Picked up two Allwave 11g step through bikes just before Christmas 2021, having now ridden them for some time, I feel better able to review them. Scott and the team fitted lower overall gearing on chain drives to further help us oldies up the steeper hills. The bikes are absolutely excellent, smooth, quiet and refined. The 90 nms motor and 11 speed hub gears are a marked improvement on our previous Bosch powered 8 speed bikes. The bikes do an excellent job of keeping our elderly legs happily pedalling Trevor and Joan

My bike was delivered late 2021 after I had spoken to Scott and he had agreed to supply tubeless tyres and rims as I didn't fancy repairing rear wheel punctures with the Gates belt drive installed. I am very impressed with the standard of welding and powder coating on the frame and the general equipment level - especially for the price charged. I have had to add a bit of colour with a yellow saddle and red pedals and red reflective stickers on the frame. The supplied Kenda tubeless tyres are very good but the side walls were a bit porous which necessitated a bit extra latex insertion and a bit of time for the latex to seal the small holes in the side walls. All is now fine and I find the bike superb to ride especially above 20 mph! I would and have recommended this firm and their product to others.

We were invited to visit the 50 bike premises to try out the bikes and discuss what we required. Scott was most obliging and helpful and offered to build our custom bikes which were different from the standard models. It was all very easy and our choices were taken up. We were told the lead time would be three to four weeks, but due to delivery problems from Germany, and transport problems due to covid and Brexit, the actual delivery time was 13 weeks. No fault of Scott's, and he kept us informed of progress as the weeks passed. When they arrived it took about 30 minutes to assemble each bike and they were ready to ride, even coming with fully charged batteries . We have not had much time to test them long term, but so far we are very happy with them. The build quaility is very good, it appears that most of the bike is German, with their fine attention to detail, and good design, and they ride very smoothly and silent. If you want a bespoke electric bike give Scott a call and see if he can give you what you want.

I bought a City 50 Electric Bike with 28” wheels, when they first came out over three months ago. This is my third electric bike.My first came from 50 cycles in 2003, my second was a Mercedes Smart Bike and now this is my latest. This is a quantum leap from the others and I ride it almost every day, but I don’t do rain! We have lots of hills around here and it makes cycling a pleasure. I am in my 80th year and find the 900w motor tackles the hills with ease and the disc brakes and carbon fibre belt are very comforting. Being able to step through to mount the bike means, I hope, that I shall be able to continue cycling for many years to come. As it is not a racing bike it suits me to sit up and be more aware of all the traffic around me. Also, I have found the steering is much easier. The 11 Shimano gears, all in the wheel hub, and 4 different power modes makes it very flexible. Living in the Isle of Man I do not have to worry too much about stolen bikes but, nevertheless, I locked an Apple iTag within the battery casing and it is reassuring, if I leave it outside, to know exactly where it is! The quality of the basic frame, particularly the welding, is a tribute to British workmanship. The only thing I miss was the re-charging capability of the Smart Bike, now discontinued, when going downhill or applying the brakes. All in all the City 50 Electric Bike is cleverly designed to give me everything I desire to retain my independence on the roads and old railway tracks. I shall, very soon, be an octogenarian and this wonderful piece of equipment is keeping me fit, hopefully, for many years to come. Well done. David North

I was a bit apprehensive about spending a lot of money on my bike and getting the right size and being able to remove battery. But after emailing and speaking to Scott he eased my worries as he was very helpful and informative and guided me through it with a test ride and help in making sure I got the right size bike and showing me how to remove battery

This is a really good uk company, who deserve the 5 stars for the extra work they do and effort they put in for customer satisfaction. The bike I bought from them has the best motor for me, and at a very reasonable price, and my experience of both the bike and the company is amazing. Scott and team know what they are doing, and go out their way to be very helpful.

Mark is very passionate about his company and the bikes he builds and ships out to people. On receiving my huge bike box I unpacked the bike, put the pedals on and straighten the handlebars like you do. Then tried to put the bars into a less aggressive stance, but had problems trying to get that bolt lose that lies under the ‘T’ section of the bars! I admit I did loose my rag a couple of times but after phoning Mark and going through this n that we managed to sort it!! The bike is the Trekker 11G with the Gates carbon belt, I didn’t want the messy chain. I had a well known German bike before (Bosch motor) it got nicked couple of months back and thought that was the ultimate bike…..not! lol The Trekker 11G with the Brose motor is an amazing bike that pulls a lot better and stronger than the ‘other’ bike! I’ve got one steep short hill that I tend to avoid in my town thats like the north face of the Iger!! straight up! A great test…I couldn’t believe it! I peddled normally and up it went up!! My other bike I had to give it some Mexican beans! lol I got Mark to put Slime tubes in as getting a puncture in the rear will prove a pain till I get used to it, but thats the drawback of a ‘quiet no mess belt drive bike’ When I initially phoned Mark to tell him what I wanted he kitted the bike to my specs with his input and suggestions. I’m very pleased with the bike and the service from Mark at 50 Electric Bikes and his staff, thank you.

Excellent service and ticking all my boxes on technical questions before purchase. Great after sales care and a fantastic product. Thanks to Scott for getting it to me in time as gift to my wife.

We met the really cool Scott, who met us at his facility where he and his team hand build their range of excellent electric bikes. The bike was for my Dad , but I said I’d occasionally like to ride it if possible and Scott had prepared 2 suitable bikes for us to Guate the size as my Dad is over six foot and I am 5”10”. Not only did Scott allow us to ride up and down the industrial estate where his business is situated, he allowed me to take the bike along to the next village and up a steep hill. On the ride I immediately noticed how smooth and balanced the bike was with an even and comfortable delivery of the electric assistance. The bikes are built to a very high standard with top end cycle world components. Not only is Scott building an excellent range of products for the cycling world, he knows absolutely the old fashioned deliverance of excellent customer service combined with a professional understanding of his bikes and the industry and backed with a wealth of experience from personal involvement at several levels of cycling. His enthusiasm for his business and towards the customers to get the most from their bikes is a joy to behold I would recommend the quality and excellence Scott delivers both from his bikes and himself to anyone.

Trekking 11G. What a great bike and great service! I emailed Scott about availability and received a prompt reply. He called me to discuss what I wanted and talked me through options and most importantly, the correct size - it’s a big bike! The photos don’t do the bike justice. It looks fantastic and is a head-turner! Lots of positive comments. More importantly, it’s very well built and superb value for money. You won’t get this spec (Gates belt drive option) for anywhere near the price. The Brose motor and belt combo is excellent. Really quiet to the point of wondering if it’s on when you first get on it! Assistance is perfect, with a proper boost if you select higher e levels. Battery life looks to be good too, but I tend to use Eco mode most of the time and only higher levels at the lights or to get out of a situation quickly. Nice upright riding position combined with comfortable saddle. Lights controlled through theBrose interface keep the handlebars neat. I came across the 50 Bikes website almost by accident when looking at other brands. Very glad I did! Scott - you need to push your advertising! I highly recommend this bike

A great bike loads of power and a high top gear. Problems changing down the gears especially when going up hill, seems to be resolved now with a slightly less taught drive belt. Maybe should have purchased the medium size frame, the extra large tyres and sprung seat on the large frame add a couple of inches to the seat to ground distance for my body height. After a few hundred miles on the clock, getting used to the higher cruise speeds easily achieved, and a lot of fun.

Absolutely Awesome Brose Electric Bike with Gates Belt Drive and Hub gears. Brough the Trekking 11G for commuting and find it really comfortable. Very well Balanced bike with strong powerful motor that gets me up some of the steepest hills in the Blackforest, Germany. Thank you for your service and speed delivery. James

I have had the bike for about a month and, after some minor adjustments to the gears, am delighted with it. All the components are top quality and everything feels comfortable. I would highly recommend 50 Electric Bikes to anyone considering purchasing an electric bike. Scott is very helpful at ensuring you get the right bike for your size.

Well made cycle and rides very well, panniers are very useful witht he road kit. Gear changing takes a bit of getting used but smooth ride. The handlebars a very wide but I suppose add stability, but a quick release system to allow them to turn 90 degrees for storage would be useful. Rear mudguard could use an additional support to stiffen it up. The manual needs updating to reflect the actual specification e.g. different lights, walk control prcedure is different.
