We were picked up and delivered punctually at agreed times, and he had great knowledge of animals, plants and what else we had questions about. We trekked to the top of Kilimanjaro with guide Silvano and his crew from Zara Tours. It was a wonderful experience. The team was extremely professional and service minded, and made the hike a highlight of our lives.

Superbe séjour de 5 jours de safari entre Tarangire, le Serengeti et le cratère NGorongoro. Notre guide Eliudi a été formidable, très amical, souriant il nous a appris énormément et a fait son maximum pour que nous soyons satisfaits. L’organisation était parfaite je recommande !!!

Un safari de 5 jours inoubliable, incroyable. Une journée entière avec la tribu Massai. Ensuite le Serengeti, un survol en montgolfière de celui-ci le lendemain, la zone de conservation du N'Gorogoro puis descente dans le cratère. Des centaines et des centaines d'animaux, des lodges magnifiques et que dire de notre guide Mariam et de notre chauffeur Jackson, des personnes admirables et très compétentes qui nous ont fait admirer les plus beaux mammifères de Tanzanie. Our Tanzania safari with Zara was an absolute dream come true! Starting with Erasto who helped us book the trip entirely through email communication. Their communication and customer service was excellent from start to finish. They were very patient and came up with several different options to make sure our Safari met our desired length of stay and level of accommodations. From the moment we arrived in Tanzania, our honeymoon felt incredibly special thanks to Zara. The choice of lodges included both luxury and modesty. The breathtaking landscapes, magnificent wildlife, and enchanting sunsets made every day unforgettable. The staff at the Moshi Springlands Hotel were incredibly helpful and friendly. We highly recommend the coffee day tour if you have the time! However, what truly set this experience apart was our incredible tour guide, Peter. He was not just a guide, but a storyteller, a friend, and a true ambassador of Tanzania. Peter went above and beyond to ensure we didn't miss a single wonder of this beautiful country. His knowledge, enthusiasm, and warm personality made the journey even more extraordinary. Every step of the tour surpassed our wildest expectations. I spent six amazing days on a Tanzania safari in August 2023. I made the reservation through a European travel agency, Tour Compass, which in addition to customizing my trip according to my wishes, also reserved my flights between Helsinki and Kilimanjaro. I did quite a bit of shopping ahead of time, and found that as a single occupancy traveler, Tour Compass (Zara Tours) had very competitive rates, and I saved about 30-50% compared to other similar safari tours. I was met at the airport by a Zara Tours staff member and my driver/guide, Willy (Wilfred), and my two fellow travelers, a wonderful young couple from Wales, Beth and Lloyd. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Beth and Lloyd had a similar itinerary to mine and that we and Willy would be traveling together during the entire safari. First, a few words about the lodging. We spent our first two nights at Highview Hotel in Karatu. As suggested by the name, it is located on a hillside with what would have been a nice view had it not been so hazy (smoky). We received a warm welcome by the staff and were pampered throughout our stay. The meals were buffet style with plenty of choices and an amazing selection of fruits. The food was also quite good at all the other hotels and camps that I stayed at. Lunches were box lunches – plentiful but somewhat redundant, and may not fully satisfy somebody who is vegetarian/vegan, but it is possible that they would have accommodated a special diet upon request. The rooms at Highview Hotel were small, just barely big enough for two beds, and the shower had low water pressure. This was also true for the wild camps. Water is a precious commodity in these locations, so the low water pressure is understandable; I did not go on the safari to stay clean, but if a good shower is important to you, you may want to upgrade your lodging. The 3rd and 4th night we stayed at Ikoma Wild Camp. We had very big tents and enjoyed being “in the middle of nowhere”. Ikoma Wild Camp is outside of Serengeti National Park, but that does not mean that it is devoid of wildlife. We had several cape buffalo very close to the camp and a pride of about 12-15 lions within a short driving distance. The 5th and 6th night, I stayed in Ngorongoro Wild Camp, while Beth and Lloyd stayed back in Highview Hotel. I had upgraded my lodging after realizing that Ngorongoro Wild Camp is much closer to Ngorongoro crater than is Highview Hotel, so much less driving time was required to get to the crater. The Wild Camp had indeed a nice location (after a scenic drive along the crater rim) and we had several zebras and one giraffe right in the camp. After the safari, Beth and Lloyd flew to Zanzibar, while Willy drove me to Springlands Hotel in Moshi where I spent two nights visiting some friends. Springlands Hotel was quite nice with a nice pool, good shower, and lots of tasty food. It is mostly used as a base for those who climb Mount Kilimanjaro. The safari was much more amazing than I could have ever dreamed of. We went to Tarangire National Park, Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro conservation area and Lake Manyara National Park. It was breathtaking to see elephants, lions, zebras, giraffes, wildebeest, many species of antelope, hyenas, cape buffalo, hippos, etc. from such a close distance. This was made possible by our amazing driver/guide, Willy. He had a sixth sense for knowing where the animals would be and which way they would be going, so that he could position us in such a way that the animals were coming to us. Willy was knowledgeable about the geography, plants, and animals of the area, and I learned much from him. It was clear that Willy was giving us the best possible experience on our safari. For me, the safari was a dream come true and I highly recommend Willy and Zara Tours for your Tanzania dream safari.

Zara Tours did an excellent job. They worked with us to adjust our trip parameters due to unforeseen delays (our bikes arrived a day late) and were helpful from start to finish. The food was great, the guides were excellent at explaining everything from the daily schedule to the history of the mountain. We were safe and well taken care of along the way.

Our guide Dustin was great and he provided the right directions to make our ascent successful. I also thank all my team members for their excellent support.

My husband and I just got home to Iceland after a unforgettable visit to Tanzania and Zanzibar and we want to thank you for your part in making the tour as fantastic as it was. The highlight of our trip was the safari in Tanzania, Oct. 9. -13th. And thanks to your guide Peter Minja it was a spectacular experience! Peter speaks good English, he is patient, cheerful, friendly, informative, caring and always willing to do as much as he could, to make our experience the best as possible. He’s got eagles eyes and found animals no one else could see and It was lovely to experience how much he respects the animals, the environment and the country. The car was always clean every morning and we always looked forward to meeting him and experience a new day. We and the other four of his passengers got to be good friends and there was never a dull moment in the car - Hakuna Matata. If you are trekking Kilimanjaro, Zara is all about service leading to success! However, safety is never sacrificed! 5 stars!!

We did the 8 day Lemosho Route up Kilimanjaro. Prior to being in Tanzania, we had great communication from the Zara office. They were able to answer all the questions I had (which was many). It was great having the transport from the airport to our hotel and not having to organise that. We then had a pre meeting with our head guide, Joseph, the day before departure and he checked our gear - which was re assuring. The hike was then actually quite relaxing as our crew organised EVERYTHING. We ate such amazing food from Michael, and our waiter Freddy was always so attentive. Each evening, Joseph discussed the agenda for the next day and was very experienced. Will definitely recommend to friends and family!!

This tour/trip was perfectly organised in a simple and straightfoward way without being in anyway stressful or intrusive. I always felt in control of my own experience and, despite the obvious arduous nature of such a trek, it was also quite relaxing. The less travelled Rongai Route is defintiely a good choice if you wish to hike/trek without really seeing anyone else and enjoy the nature and environment. My guide, Abraham, was fully knowledgable and compentent and his friendly relaxed nature added greatly to the overall experience. It was like trekking with an in-the -know friend. For those looking for a thrilling and immersive experience with a great sense of achievement, I couldn't recommend this trip, inclusive of guide, route and company, enough.
