Shemmassian takes great care with every step of your application. I personally enjoyed the extensive meetings to discuss and game plan every aspect of my application, from the structure of my essays to the construction of a simple email asking a professor for a letter of recommendation. Your adviser is personable, and actually takes time to understand your story and how that story influenced your decision to apply a certain university.

I would absolutely recommend Shemmassian to anybody applying to medical school. I ended the 2024-2025 cycle with 5 acceptances (accepted at every school I interviewed at) and 7 total interview invites. I loved my advisors, Rose and Layla, along with my writing advisor, Logan. When matched with a writing advisor I didn't mesh well with, Shemmassian switched me to someone who better suited my needs. I am very pleased with the advice and assistance I received. My stats were not perfect, and I feel the support Shemmassian provided gave my application an edge. I am the first in my family to pursue a career in medicine and am so grateful I used Shemmassian to help me earn an acceptance in my first cycle applying.

My tutors were very supportive throughout my journey. They had separated the brainstorming and writing portions into different portions that helped me formulate my ideas and then write it into a well written essay. I definitely think that I would not be able to come up with the ideas through this consulting on my own. I achieved my goal despite seeking their aid late and not feeling very confident. They are very fast to respond and worked with me in all the steps for my medical school applications. Do yourself a favor and start early!

Dr. Shemmassian took the time to not just tell us but to help us understand the components of a great personal essay. He made sure to walk us through each step and instead of lecturing, his talk was very interactive which further enhanced the understanding that we gained.

This is a warning to anyone considering buying their secondaries. While it may be tempting to get example essays for all the schools in the US, it is actually very misleading and very overpriced. All of the essays, except the Noorda one, have been generated by ChatGPT. It is very obvious from the generic examples and excessive use of em-dashes for every single paragraph. You could just generate example essays yourself using AI for free and spare paying so much money. I really regret this purchase.

I had an interview prep session with one of the consultants that works for Shemmassian Academic Consulting. I had an incredible experience with this prep session and felt confident going into interview day. The prep sessions are so helpful and are extremely personalized to what type of interview you want to prepare for. Whether you need to prepare for an MMI style interview, a traditional style interview, or even a Standardized Patient Interaction, they can help you feel confident and more than prepared going into interview day. I highly recommend!

Maybe the Worst decision I have made in the school path of my elder kids. Close to a Scam. They promise a lot and deliver poorly. They try to squeeze money from you with the use of tutors. And Forget about Dr. Shemm he is only there when he needs to sign you in. Even if you ask for him you wont see him again. I think the best thing they offer is their web page...just take all the info you can from there (with a grain of salt) and consider yourself lucky. Stay away. Stay with your conventional or regular College Advisor. They care a lot more about your kid.

Shemmassian Academic Consulting did an incredible job helping me refine my vet school personal statement. Dr. Harries is very knowledgeable and supportive; he built my skills while helping me convey my story professionally. I was more than pleased with the advice and edits and felt much more confident in my application afterward. They truly know what they're doing, and I would absolutely recommend them to anyone applying to professional school!

My experience with Shemmassian has been very poor. I used their tutoring services for months to prepare for COMLEX Level 1 and saw no improvement on my COMSAE scores. Be warned, this company is not qualified to provide tutoring services to osteopathic medical students. I was lied to multiple times and assured that they would be able to prepare me for my board exam, but the company has NO tutors employed with osteopathic medicine experience. I am down $11,000 now. Even worse, when I reached out to Shemmassian about my disappointment, my emails were ignored. I do not recommend them.
