Hidden fees

Hidden fees - only after I called to complain about my surprise $20.00 a day fee when I arrived to the "hotel"/resort in San Diego, CA (The Dana on the Mission Bay). The fee was not listed with the other fees I did see ($35.00 fee for parking each day - $40.00 a day fee for pets). Instead, the $20.00 a day "resort fee" was listed in a whole other tab at the top far right titled policies. Once you select that tab then after some additional scrolling you will THEN find the $20.00 a day resort fee. The fee within itself was absurd as well. It was for two bottles of water they provide to your room each day, for the horrible "free" internet, for the outdated and very small gym which has missing weights and a broken treadmill & for a "business office area" which consists of two computers, which nowadays it's rare anyone would need that since most of us travel with technology (laptops and/or cell phones). I wish Expedia would've been a lot more transparent about such horrible fee because that would've allowed me to make a better booking decision. They have gained a dissatisfied customer

WORST SERVICE EVER

WORST SERVICE EVER. Hidden fees. Rude REMOTE attendants. I reserved the car through Expedia. I was waiting for the Routes Shuttle to pick me up before 8:30 pm. Their shuttle driver told me that this is not the correct shuttle. I had to call them to send the shuttle back. The same driver took me the second time around after making me wait for over an hour. I got to their location around 10:15 pm. There was nobody present at their location, and one is expected to use the touchscreen to call an attendant to get the car. After at least 3 calls, an attendant finally answered and, after I supplied all the documents, including my insurance card, proceeded to tell me that I had to pay $49.99 insurance verification fee. I explained that my reservation included all fees and taxes, but the attendant refused to release the car unless I paid the fee and told me to talk to Expedia regarding the charges. I called Expedia at that point. While I was on the call with Expedia, the attendant decided to hang up the call. The Expedia customer rep tried calling them and nobody at Routes picked up the call. At this time, I had missed my 10:30 meeting. There was nobody around, and I was fearful for my safety as it was close to midnight. The Expedia customer rep told me to just pay the fee and later get a refund of the fee from Expedia. I tried calling the Routes multiple times using their touchscreen, but nobody picked up any of my calls. Finally, I used Uber to get to my destination. My visit was completely ruined because of this. The best Expedia did for me was to issue me a refund after I explained the whole scenario to them 3 times AND sent an email to them explaining it as well. I used to like Expedia, but not anymore. Do not use this company.

Six different customer service members couldn’t contact the hotel I had booked and finally the last phone call I was told refund was available and someone from the refund team would be in contact. Now I’ve received emails saying they are sticking to the policy and no refund available. Shockingly painful experience

I booked a package that included stay…

I booked a package that included stay and a rental car through Expedia. Due to a system error on Expedia’s side, I was unable to choose a different drop-off location for the car, and I was forced to return it to the same place I picked it up, even though my return flight was from a different airport. Despite contacting Expedia support multiple times, they did nothing to help me. Because of Expedia’s system issue, I ended up having to pay an additional $400.

Expedia is not what it used to be

We have used Expedia for years, but something is going wrong with their operations. Once, my husband got charged twice for his hotel booking and recently, my Flight Protection was partially honored. I am buying flight protection because airlines are becoming less and less reliable. Surely enough, JetBlue, canceled my flight. I still had 2 weeks to find another flight so I called Expedia to help me find a different flight with my Flight Protection insurance. The person on the phone with a heavy Indian accent told me he couldn't help me to book it and was very quick to suggest that he would cancel my reservations. He made sure to ask me twice and he canceled it without notifying me that I was giving up my rights of insurance. Ironically, he provided the policy number and the insurance company's phone number for me to call them to make the claim, when he knew that he had already cancelled my policy. No honesty, no ethics, no accountability. Someone helped us by returning $300 which was the cost of the flight that was being proposed for free by JetBlue. We had to buy a much more expensive ticket on British Airways. I guess this is a good bye to our long term ally: Expedia.

Expedia will lie to you and take your money

Expedia took $111 from my account they claim that American Airlines has it and their policy is not to return it. I contacted American Airlines and they said Expedia has the money and it’s their choice whether or not they return it. I then contacted Expedia who told me once again that American Airlines has the money. I cannot trust Expedia I feel they’re lying to me and I will never use them again over $111 I tell everyone I talk to and I post every chance I get the straight up. Lie is unacceptable. Very bad policy.

Double charged - Will never use again

Will never use again. Had to book an emergency trip for my wife. Found the best flight to get her to east coast as quickly as possible and clicked button to purchase. Website spun for 3 minutes then told me the purchase failed. Went through the whole process again and got a ticket. Next, I was getting e-mails showing 2 separate reservations. Called customer service who assured me the first charge was only a hold and would be cancelled. A month later, both charges are still on my card. Expedia swears the first one was cancelled, statement says otherwise, so does the airline. Credit card company says charge is legitimate and airline won't refund either. Their website screwed up, but I'm left to spend my time cleaning up the mess, assuming I can.

Horrible experience. Misleading lies on their web page

I booked a trip marked "Fully Refundable". Noticing an error in one of my flights (15 minutes after booking), I spent hours trying to fix the issue. They would not refund me the payment and no one could fix the issue. 2 hours with incompetent people on chat telling me how sorry they were. I will never use them again. Customer Service is abysmal.

No help at all

Made a booking in good faith flight and accommodation in August 2026, the accommodation has contacted us to say there is no availability and Expedia should not have booked, Expedia are now claiming they have been unable to contact the accommodation providers, no offer of alternatives or refund. Have been trying to contact Expedia for over a week now with very little success, their response is that this is all my problem to resolve. I will NOT be using Expedia again.

Intentional scam company

Intentional scam company, if they weren't the first google result they would be out of business because no customer would ever return to a company that you pay for something and then find out there's no refunds and you need to pay triple what you paid in hidden fees to get what you paid for.

Expedia…. Be cautious

I had looking at purchasing at trip to Palm Springs next Feb on Expedia for a while. I received numerous Black Friday emails from Expedia offering up to 50% off. I looked and saw the trip I was previously looking at was almost $1000 less, so I booked it. I received the receipt the next day and was unimpressed to see that the offer presented to me was in USD. My fault for not doing exceptional due diligence. Thank you Expedia, I am a Gold Tier 10 year member who will no longer utilize your services.

Terrible Experience

Terrible Experience – I Will Never Use Expedia Again I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience with Expedia, and I feel obligated to warn others before they end up in the same situation. I accidentally selected the wrong date for a hotel booking, and as soon as I realized the mistake, I cancelled the reservation within about one hour. Despite this, Expedia still charged me 2100 DKK for a one-night stay that I will never use. What makes this situation even more frustrating is the complete lack of understanding or flexibility from Expedia’s customer service. I contacted them immediately after noticing the issue, expecting at least a reasonable conversation or some willingness to help. Instead, I was met with a cold and unhelpful response telling me that there was “nothing they could do,” even though the cancellation happened almost instantly and the hotel had not been occupied, used, or benefited from the booking in any way. It is absolutely unacceptable that a company of this size cannot handle a simple human error with any kind of fairness. Most reputable travel companies offer at least some level of customer care or courtesy when a mistake is reported right away. Expedia, on the other hand, seems far more interested in keeping people’s money than in keeping customers satisfied. I strongly advise others to stay far away from Expedia. There are plenty of other booking companies that actually care about their customers and handle situations like this with professionalism and empathy. Expedia has shown me that they do not deserve my trust, my money, or my business ever again. Save yourself the stress and disappointment—use any other booking service but this one

expedia is like a russian roulette

expedia is like a russian roulette, i have had awful experience with them, for example a hotel without airconditioning and a bar downstairs, and you couldnt even sleep with earplugs, i had another bad experience with a tour to sacred valley that it was almost imposible to locate the tour and expedia didnt want to give a refund, and after talking with local i realized that i pay 3 times the price, so in tour and stuff to do you are going to over pay and you are not going to get good service, the two tour i book with them, didnt comply with the expectation, for example whenninwent to the rainbow mountainninwas suppose to come back by 430 we get back home by 2, and remember thet we overpay. in respect hotels what i have learn is allway check the reviews on google maps or any other apps , look for more than a 100 reviews

Expedia allows fraudulent listings and leaves customers stranded in foreign countries

Expedia and its partner websites have fraudulent listings for hotels that do not exist. I realized this hotel did not actually exist about an hour after booking, I tried to get in contact with the property not to cancel, but to get more information on the property to verify its legitimacy. Obviously, I did not get a response from a hotel that doesn't exist. Expedia said they would contact them on my behalf to request a refund and their team was also (obviously) not able to get in contact with the property. I found a review from another customer who booked one of these properties and was left stranded with no place to stay with her family in a foreign country. If I can verify these listings don't exist, Expedia can too, but they continue to allow them to operate so they can profit while endangering their customers.
