This company TAKE FOREVER! Don't ignore the 1 star reviews here, I had the exact same bad experience! I was renting a house from a friend, and my friend decided she wanted to sell the house (for personal reasons), and I offered to buy. Talbots dragged out the process for as long as possible. They dilly-dallied about with not getting anything done, no paperwork sent to my friends "house sales" lawyers. They wouldn't respond to my emails or calls for 10 days, and when they responded it was never a resolution, just excuses for the slow reply. This wasted another 2 months, before I insisted that I have a more senior person on the case. Then there was 101 questions about the property which were of no relevance at all, such as a copy of the sales brochure.... honestly.. did they even read the first line of my case. I'm buying from a friend. The house didn't go to a estate agents to have a sales brochure produced. Next they asked for proof that the service charge was paid up to date. They asked for a gas + electric safety certificate. They asked for proof of appropriate fire cladding, emergency exits. They asked for a list of all the freeholders since the house was built. I have never heard of these requirement to buy a property? And they asked for ALL these things ONE AT A TIME! I do not understand why, unless all they wanted to do was waste time. If you need this information, then surely it all goes in one document right at the beginning of the process so me and my friend can collect the documentation and send it in one go. But no. They ask for one thing. We send it. Ask if we can finalise the sale. They'll ask for the next thing. We send that. Can we finalise the sale now? Noo.. they need another thing. I was 5 months in, and I was so close to switching lawyers. But we'd already done so much, and I thought it would be over soon. Nope... it took another 3 months of stupid questions before they let me sign to officially buy the house. I know lawyers have a bad reputation for being time wasters but this takes the biscuit!

As a firs time buyer, I was obviously very new to the process. I was given unclear instructions, ignored for weeks at a time, and constantly shafted with excuses. After uploading requested documents via the portal they asked that I use, I was then asked to send on duplicates via email and post, usually months later! A lot of the delays were totally avoidable, had they picked up their phones, or answered simple email enquiries. I would not recommend their services to any one looking to purchase a property. Have never felt like less of a priority in my life!
