The remarkable simplicity of online digital passport photography
The process of obtaining my digital photo through Passport Photo Online could not have been easier. I must admit I was sceptical and, because I need my passport within 4 weeks, was reticent to use the service but, I trusted the ‘sales pitch’ and my fears were proven unfounded. My son took my photo, via the app, in a room with quite a cluttered background. But this proved no issue for the ‘magic’ behind the app and the background was simply removed… a plain white background was substituted and the photo looked exactly as it would had a professional photographer taken it (and it was substantially cheaper). The code was sent immediately and linked to my passport application with almost unnerving ease. In short, an application (for a very regular, uncomplicated passport renewal) which used to take up to 3 weeks will have taken 4 days! This was a ‘standard’ application, no express service, no ‘check at post office’. I started the application at 1226 on Thesday 1 July and my passport is due for delivery between 1230 - 1430 Saturday July. This process has taken the sting out of what was likely to be a challenge for me (my nearest Photo Booth is 7 miles away, nearest photographer same distance but £20.00)
