Maui / Apollo experience
At the end of last year (2024) I wanted to rent a camper for a trip in New Zealand. After studying options I selected an Apollo camper and then started to read reviews. I found that both Apollo and Maui (from the same group) as well as almost all other rental companies have a poor rating making it quite hard to decide. In the end I reasond: we want to go there and therefore we just select what we think best and we deal with it. I ordered an Apollo but we got a comparable Maui small campervan for 4 persons. Our experience: When we got the vehicle it took some time to get it. This was because (of course almost) all customers arrive in the morning and want to get going, all at the same time. The hand-over was good, sufficient time for questions dealt with in a pleasant way. The vehicle was sufficiently clean (but of course used). We indeed (as also others noted) had 2 small leakages when it rained but nothing serious. When we returned the camper it was noted and would be repairerd. After some 4.000 km we had to fill up the addblue. When we mentioned this the cost was refunded without us asking for it and not having a receipt! As a conclusion: we think we got the performance as advertised and it was a pleasure to deal with the company. I can imagine that reviews are written when expectations are not met, but if these are the only reviews one may get a false impression. Therefore a very good review and the advice: value the reviews.
