1 WORD...S***
There is many big incidents with IXL. Thinkster math is much better! It doesn’t even deserve to get 1 star. I am barely seeing positive reviews just because this website is so bad. Wait? you pay for this! This is $10 a month. I do not finish my work on time oftenly because of this stupid website is like math tests every day. When you get it wrong at 99. They challenge me on the next skill I did. It only took 2 mistakes at 99 to get 99 wrong 2 times in 1 skill! IXL has serious problems. They don’t give videos. They think 1 + 1 = 1. IXL should not be a website. 20 years of IXL, and children are not having good times. It is not fun like other learning sites. The point system for me I get like 1-3 points for the right answer and it deducts 6-8 points for a wrong answer! If you get it wrong, then you would have to spend a few minutes extra doing math per wrong answer! In conclusion, ixl is a horrible website. I had to do homework and it was not fun. IXL is supposed to be fun. It is not worth $10 per month. I got it wrong at 99 a total of 3 times! Ever since the teachers in my school have discovered IXL, it has honestly ruined me just half a month later after! You have to pass the challenge zone on ixl which is 5/14 of the questions if you didn't get any wrong. If you get one wrong in multiplication 6th grade, then it is a whole math class extra! One skill has took me 5 hours! This is horrible and makes kids cry. One person said "IXL has my child staying up till 11:00 pm!" I ended up finding IXL, a site that supposedly 'made education fun.' Yeah, sure. So I downloaded the program, and my hopes were high. I decided to try it out myself, just to have a taste. Well, in a few minutes, those hopes crashed and burned. One person also said "The site uses a point system which is supposed to encourage learning. This point system does the exact opposite, it causes children to lose interest." Little Tim has worked hard on one skill. He is almost done! Oh no! A question with something he doesn't understand! Now Tim is frustrated. He went from 99 to 89. Even worse - It can turn the nicest into the meanest kid there could be because of all the stress this causes. Like many people said, be at 99, miss a small sign like a negative, and drop to 85! We were using IXL at class one day, then my classmate got it wrong at 99, then dropped down to 72! IXL thinks it's okay to add an extra probably 10 minutes of work per wrong answer!
The IXL site itself is OK. My 3 kids (ages 7, 9, 13) all use it to practise maths. We've found it's helped to improve their confidence in answering maths questions, and has certainly helped suppliment the work they've done in school time. So, from a learning perspective, the web site seems to have a positive effect. Now the negative side of things...the first year we signed up the kids using a 20% off offer. At renewal time, this wasn't available to us. We asked it there was a discount for pre-existing members, but the answer to that is NO. No discount for loyalty or repeat business. They seemed more happy to cancel the account, than to try to keep us! Out of principle, there is no way I wil be renewing after this. IXL, your loss not mine. There are other (free) teaching resources available online.
My son enjoyed learning maths with fun Very helpful for any age.

Common complaints include the program's tendency to mark correct answers as wrong and the punitive nature of its scoring, which many feel is overly harsh. Despite these criticisms, a small number of users do express satisfaction, particularly with the English Language Arts (ELA) content, and some appreciate the excitement their children feel when achieving high scores. However, the majority sentiment reflects deep dissatisfaction, with many calling it a waste of money and advocating for a trial period before committing. Overall, IXL Learning is viewed negatively by most consumers.
