This is my second review, but this app is utterly TERRIBLE! I spend half an hour doing these useless and repetitive tasks, and the second I log in, it doesn't save onto the system, so my stupid teachers think that I have done no learning at the correct time I logged in, they think I logged in 2 hours later, even though I despise this app and it's completely useless. There isn't a single microscopic ounce of decency in this entire site. These words in the vocabulary are useless and would never be used in anyone's day-to-day life; they just sound pathetic and nerdy. I can't think of a single thing about this app that is good; it doesn't help with anything actually needed. The time is never added correctly, and the point system is useless, the voice in the questions are so slow and boring that I get demotivated so much. How can an app be this buggy and used in most schools around the UK? Fix this game and actually test your sites properly before publishing. -Thank you
this stupid website is cheap and bad students are forced to do this absolutely infuriating learning half the time it gives you the wrong answer when you were correct and the person who made this is built like a square and should jump into a bed of cement and eat 48,000 square tons of cottage cheese and the cold sid of there pillow is infinity warm and the toilet seat is covered in liquid nitrogen
so pointless. waste of time. if you get soemthing wrong, you have to wate 10sec for the slow reader to read te whole mistake and the activities at the start, you have to wait like 30sec each for the bot to read the text
The platform allows teachers and parents to see measurable progress without the hefty marking workload. The platform adapts to learners' abilities. We have used Bedrock for several years now and my department colleagues love it.
Very useful for students - seen huge improvements in their ability to read/ write. Can glitch occassionally.
Bedrock provides independent learning for my students. Being able to select the content relevant to current teaching topics is key to developing their understanding of key terms and enables them to further embed knowledge surrounding the topic. Students gain a sense of self efficacy and are more proactive in their learning and development of literacy skills.
My students enjoy going into Bedrock and we even have competitions in class. Their comprehension has improved. It is just a little difficult for them to login every time , but after a while they got the hang of it.
We are using Bedrock to consolidate GCSE core texts that we study together in class and it has made s huge difference in building student confidence with the knowledge. We usually set the Bedrock lessons for homework after we have completed a text to ensure continuity of development of understanding of narrative/themes/characters.
Our students are engaging well with the lessons and we have been able to embed it throughout the whole school. Set up was simple to do and we have had very little issues those of which we have had have been sorted promtly.
Easy to track if students are completing the work or not. Gives students a variety of activities to complete, matched to their ability. Great for setting online homework to be completed outside of the lesson.
Clear and esay web page set up. Fast response from support team
We have implemented Bedrock successfully at KS3. KS4 it is not as easy a transition as they have not bought into it earlier. I lead the English department and we have a weekly Bedrock lesson, using Ipads, for students to engage with Vocabulary and Grammar. We have put in place closer monitoring of it to pick up students who are not engaging and we are using opportunities in the calendar year to have conversations with parents about this. Mapper we are continuing to make progress with. The difficulty as a department lead is changing the curriculum every year when, mostly, there are only ever tweaks happening in the curriculum and the content is the same. It woudl be great if the full Mapper curriculum could copy over year on year.
The vocabulary and grammar lessons are brilliant. Students can complete them independently. As a school, we use it for homework. Sometimes, students complete tasks correctly and they are marked as wrong but this is not often. I wish the grammar videos had quizzes to break them up so students couldn't just skip them. Reply: they can skip them by disabling the restrictions on the video timing. I mean quizzes to further break up the videos. This is feedback from the students.
As a student, I'm obviously going to find any type of homework annoying, especially the tedious, repetitive stuff like bedrock is. However, unlike sparx or tassomai, bedrock actually teaches you stuff that you will use in your english exams and whatnot, and better yet it teaches it really well: Basic meaning - Easier, shorter work - Quiz. Unfortunately, my school makes us do 40 points a week which is even more annoying, but I can just get past that by putting the tab on mute, having a quick skim through to get it if I don't already know the word, then just watch a bit of youtube for a minute or do something in a game.
DO NOT USE THIS WEBSITE!!! Firstly, this website is a waste of time if you are older than 3 years old. The words I "learn" on this website have been in my memory for over five years and it doesn't seem to take into account the fact that I am in secondary school. The voice is so slow I could take a nap whilst he finishes telling me "I got it wrong". He sounds like he is making fun of me with his stupid pig voice and the explanations which just repeat the question in different wording. I watch a five minute video explaining what a full stop is and it tells me that I got 86% having not done anything! I would not recommend using this website if you are a teacher or a parent because it sucks and you don't learn anything. Opening it feels like torture and I would rather eat a lump of expired cheese then ever have to do bedrock again.
not too shabby but i recommend making it so that you choose which book you want to focus on in vocabulary and make the videos more relaxing. There is also a bug where the questions that get saved in the knowledge organiser allow full stops as answers.
