SriLankan Airlines Unresponsive

I flew SriLankan Airlines, a member of OneWorld, on two occasions (1) from DEL to CMB on 18 Apr 2024 (2) CMB to DEL on 17 May 2024. I wanted to claim airline mileage with my OneWorld frequent flyer program which is American Airlines´ AAdvantage. I submitted flight details and boarding passes to AAdvantage but website does not recognize the flights and sent me to SriLankan Airlines. I approached two SriLankan Airlines representatives at the airport. The first was outright unhelpful and disrespectful and the second gave me SriLankan Airlines’ email address for customer assistance. I corresponded via email but after several back-and-forths, the issue remains unresolved. As of 06Jul2024, air miles were credited - thanks to American Airlines´ AAdvantage.

Impossible to redeem flyer miles

I have been traveling with China Airlines for more than a decade and have chosen their Dynasty Flyer as my Sky Team frequent flyer program. I have accumulated close to 20k air miles and I thought of redeeming them. This is when I realized CA´s Dynasty Flyer program is close to being a scam. First, the trans-Pacific flight - which I use CA for - is a high-mileage barrier that is difficult to accumulate for. Which means I can only use Dynasty Flyer miles for shorter routes, which in my situation flying with other Sky Team partners. Here is where the complications start. Dynasty Flyer program only allows for return flights and they do not sell miles to make up for the difference. It meant that most of my 20k air miles had to expire. To all Sky Team flyers: choose carefully your frequent flyer program or you will take a big loss as I had.

Alpadia Montreux rocks!

I am a retired person and I enjoy combining learning experiences to my travel retinue. In August 2022, I attended a 4-week French course at Alpadia Language School in Montreux, Switzerland. I chose the Montreux location for its famed scenery and I was not disappointed. And neither was I with the school, indeed everything about it is superlative - the location, the classrooms and facilities, the staff and faculty. They employ sound pedagogical techniques - interactive, never a dull moment and made effective use of audio-visuals to enhance the learning experience. I had the fortune of having enthusiastic and inspiring teachers - Nicolas and Charline. The staff - particularly Marie - were very helpful and addressed all my concerns. The housing arrangement was also a big plus of the experience. I had some issues with registration but this was addressed very admirably by the big boss himself - Ugo Toselli. Overall, the Alpadia Montreux experience was superbly enriching.
