Fantastic as Asda Mobile offers wifi-calling for PAYG customers

I switched my main mobile phone sim to Asda Mobile pay-as-you-go primarily because they offer wifi calling for PAYG customers. They also use the Vodafone network which is reliable. I live in an apartment where the mobile reception is very poor; previously I could not make or receive calls or texts; so Asda Mobile is the perfect PAYG option. Receiving the sim card in the post took 2 working days. I activated it right away and started the request to transfer my existing phone number. This went smoothly and worked the next working day. The Asda Mobile app is good as it shows your PAYG usage; detailing data, minutes and texts, so you can track spending. My previous network did not provide this information. The PAYG call costs are higher than the other network I was on but at least my phone works at home now! Asda charges: 15p per minute for UK calls, 10p for UK texts and 10p per MB of data. My previous supplier charged 3p per minute for UK calls, 2p for UK texts and 1p per MB of data; so I would be paying more but rarely use minutes or texts. As my phone has a second sim slot; I retained a sim card on my old network purely for mobile data use, so I still pay 1p per MB, as paying ten times the cost on Asda makes no sense! The customer service is slow though. If you email, their reply time is a day or two.

The best cruise line - recommended

We sailed on Celebrity Summit around the Caribbean for my big birthday celebrations. I had booked an inside cabin and was very pleased to get a free upgrade to an oceanview two weeks before we sailed. I suspect it was because I am a member of the Captains Club and it was my big birthday. They also recognised my birthday and delivered a card and bottle of red wine to my cabin. I also got a birthday cake and staff sang happy birthday to me in the restaurant. They really helped to make my birthday special. We really enjoyed our cruise as it was not overcrowded like other cruises we'd been on. There always seemed to be seating available everywhere and we felt very relaxed. The only downside were the evening meals - whilst overall it was fine; three out of seven nights my meat was overcooked. They served a very well done steak to me on my birthday despite the fact I'd asked for medium. I can only conclude that we had a party of six and this proved challenging for the chef to get all the meals out together. The sommelier Jenny and wine were top-notch. Brilliant service and so friendly. We particularly liked the Spa Cafe and the Abba singalong night. The excursions were well organised too. We'd recommend Celebrity - relaxed ships that never felt overcrowded and the other passengers didn't seem as pushy or shouty as on other budget cruise lines.

Not proactive at all. Avoid if you are selling a shared ownership property

Disappointing and slow service - this company was not efficient, as I regularly had to obtain information from third parties myself to speed up the process. The sales call was very slick and he told me that most sales complete within 10 weeks, however my sale took 5.5 months. Perhaps if you are selling a house it is easy but if you are selling a shared ownership apartment - use a specialist, no matter how much pressure your estate agent puts on you about using this company. The only reason I stuck it out was because the purchaser was also using SC and I hoped it would be quicker as we were both using the same firm. I realised nearing the end of the process that some mistakes had been made by them; perhaps because their staff are juniors who do not fully know what they are doing when the circumstances are unusual. Important forms were sent to me in the final month, that should have been sent to me at the start because the purchaser and I were both using the same firm and the fact I needed a non-standard TR1, as I had power of attorney acting on behalf of beneficiaries to my late sister's estate. When I signed up in May 2023, I was allocated one conveyancer and a week or two later, I was dealing with a different one. By the time the sale completed in November 2023, I was on my fourth conveyancer. The third person, V.P. was very poor. She just sent emails out to the managing agent and did not follow up or exhibit any proactive activity. She did not seem to want to make any phone calls to chase for any information. Despite paying their premium fee - I had to chase up and obtain a large amount of information myself; such as details of fire reports, retrospective permission for the flooring, confirmation of water supply and chasing for the electrical test certificate and the Landlord Certificate. SC emailed out long lists of requests for information to the management company and managing agent, however they did not provide reference to documents, so the person reading the email would not know what the question was in reference to, which cause more delays. Each time answers were supplied to SC by the managing agent, more follow-up questions would be raised by SC on behalf of the purchasers; whereas detailed questions should have been asked to begin with to save time. I submitted a complaint to a senior manager there; who wanted to call me to discuss but I wanted their response in writing which of course they did not provide. Dealing with SC was really stressful whilst grieving for my sister. Every week of delay cost the estate £155 in shared ownership rent and bills but there was no compassion; no attempt to speed up the process. The SC staff would simply compose an email and even if they had not heard back in 4-5 weeks, they did not want to follow-up with a phone call. The delays drained our funds and created extra stress because they were not proactive with my sale.

Terrible website - does not include the service charge for many flats

Terrible website - they're very happy to waste flat buyer's time Rightmove is a terrible website for flat buyers, as very few flats include the most important details, such as the annual service charge and annual council tax costs. I'm also looking for a flat with a balcony and lift. You cannot search by any of these criteria; even though it is very simple improvement to implement. The only way to find a flat with a balcony and lift is to click into every single listing... well, it's pretty insulting that Rightmove think that people have nothing better to do! I have been using a competitor's website as it allows me to enter keywords and also search for a balcony. Every time I have run a search, I have had to click into each individual property to look for the annual service charge, only to then find it's not there. This is a really important factor for flat-hunters and I'm fed up with estate agents omitting this essential information. I then have to email the agents and give them all of my details just to obtain the service charge, which then turns out to be extortionate. I currently pay 5K per year on my service charge and 2K on council tax. I wish to move somewhere to reduce my costs but so far I have clicked into around 60 properties and only a handful had the service charge. This is why I'm giving Rightmove one star as they're very happy to waste potential buyers time by not insisting estate agents enter this crucial information, which the agents already have.
