I reached HSK 5 in a year from scratch

Intensive-blended course made this experience awesome. They have smart character cards which helped me a lot for memorizing whole those characters in very short time. Also with the smart pen studying was much more easier cuz personally I was distracted a lot while doing those listening tests on phone or computer however smart pen made me more consantrated. Additionally, events they organized will make you immersed in Chinese culture. If you are thinking about to learn mandarin give them a chance!

More than a Camp but a Cultural and Language Adventure

This camp has been an incredible experience for my 14-year-old daughter! Over the past two years, she has formed deep, lifelong friendships with both teachers and fellow campers. These meaningful connections have created a joyful and motivating environment for her to learn Chinese—it’s truly inspiring to see her enthusiasm grow. Beyond language skills, she’s also embracing the rich culture, making this a wonderful win-win for her personal growth and happiness. The program offers not only engaging Mandarin classes but also enriching field trips that provide real-life practice and cultural experiences. We especially appreciate how much the teachers care for the children. Parents receive daily updates with photos and videos, which keeps us connected to her journey. Silk Mandarin is the best summer camp for kids

Silk Mandarin's summer camps have become a beloved tradition for my family. This is our third year sending my kids to China from Canada, who were 9 and 12 when they first attended. Initially, they knew hardly any Mandarin, but after just two weeks, their interest in the language blossomed. I believe their love for Mandarin stems from two key factors. First, the camps are packed with fun and engaging activities that make learning a new language feel like an adventure. Second, the teachers are incredibly patient and supportive, which helped my kids build the confidence they needed to succeed. Now, my children can comfortably hold daily conversations in Mandarin. My son even challenged himself to be the MC at the closing ceremony this year!! I wholeheartedly recommend Silk Mandarin's summer camps to any parents looking for an inspiring and effective way for their children to learn a new language.

My Experience Learning Mandarin at Silk Mandarin, Suzhou

Before joining Silk Mandarin, learning Chinese felt overwhelming. I had tried studying on my own and even used a few apps, but progress was slow and inconsistent. I struggled with remembering characters, understanding tones, and most of all, feeling confident using Mandarin in real-life situations. It was frustrating because I truly wanted to learn, but I didn’t know how to move forward effectively. I chose Silk Mandarin after doing some research and reading positive reviews online. What really convinced me was their unique teaching method—the Slow Motion Technique—which promised to simplify the language in a way that made sense. I also appreciated that they focused on practical speaking skills, not just textbook grammar. The fact that the school is based in Suzhou, where I live, made it convenient and accessible. Since starting classes, my learning journey has completely changed. For the first time, I feel like I’m building a solid foundation. The Slow Motion Technique helped me understand sentence structure and grammar patterns clearly and visually. Their Magical Talking Cards turned memorizing vocabulary and sentence building into something fun and interactive. I find myself remembering things more easily and actually using them in conversation with locals. What surprised me the most is how much I enjoy going to class. Overall, my experience with Silk Mandarin has been very positive. I took the intensive course and had two main teachers — Jane and Nina — both of whom were very competent, professional, and supportive throughout. They each brought their own strengths to the classroom, and I always felt guided and encouraged in the learning process. Even for someone like me who started from zero, Silk Mandarin provides a solid and effective foundation for learning Chinese. What I especially appreciated: The classes are well-structured, and you can tell there’s a thoughtful teaching method behind everything — particularly the Slow Motion Technique, which helps break down complex sentence patterns in a way that makes them easier to grasp. A small point of critique: The set learning pace is great for keeping progress consistent, but at times it felt a bit inflexible — especially when other responsibilities made it hard to keep up. Some more flexibility in the schedule would be helpful for students with busier lives. Another area worth mentioning: In my experience, the organizational side of things could be a bit chaotic. It didn’t impact the quality of the teaching, but better communication and clearer processes from the admin team would have improved the overall experience. In conclusion: Despite these minor issues, I’m very happy with my learning journey at Silk Mandarin. It’s a great school with a strong concept, dedicated teachers, and a real potential to help students succeed in learning Chinese.

Experience

This was my first time joining the two-week summer camp, and I had a great experience. The teacher was very helpful and friendly, which made learning Chinese enjoyable and effective. I also loved the afternoon activities like exploring local spots and playing mahjong—they were fun and helped us practice Chinese in real-life situations. A fun filled mandarin adventure

We had an amazing experience at the Mandarin summer camp! It totally exceeded our expectations! My son, an English speaker, had a blast in his Mandarin classes, where learning felt like playtime. The caring tutors made every lesson fun, and he loved all the cultural activities and city adventures. The best part? He made friends from all over the world! We’ve even scheduled visits with his new friends! It was heartwarming to see him bond with other kids who share his love for Mandarin. Plus, his Chinese has improved so much—he's now more confident and excited to practice at home and is even more willing to speak Mandarin! I highly recommend this camp to other parents! It’s a perfect mix of fun, learning, and friendship. We can’t wait for next summer!

A wonderful opportunity to learn

First time in Shanghai with Silk Mandarin

This is my first time in Shanghai and I’ve chosen Silk Mandarin as the place where i’ll study Chinese - i didn’t expect that I’ll not only learn some vocabulary, grammar etc., but also will have that much speaking practice. Lessons are well-structured, the school provides a huge amount of useful study materials for previews and reviews so i have a chance to go through the topics again after and before every class. Every teacher at Silk Mandarin talks to you several times a day during the breaks so that you practice more. I was really afraid of speaking in Chinese even though i had a good bases but thanks to the program I’m not afraid of asking people for help on the streets if i need something. It is also possible to have small-talks with natives now! Special thanks to teacher Jane - she taught me a lot of new things and it is not only about the lessons, she has also showed me that it is better to try to say something in the language you studying, make a mistake and try to rephrase your answer than to sit in silence and be afraid. I honestly recommend Silk Mandarin, their lessons and attitude helped me to improve my Chinese level, especially speaking skills. I hope we’ll meet again someday :)

Before joining Silk Mandarin, I was really struggling with motivation and structure in my Chinese learning. It was hard to access the right materials, and speaking felt overwhelming—especially because I couldn’t fully understand the grammar rules with previous teachers. Since joining Silk Mandarin, everything has changed. The platform is super easy to use and accessible anytime, which is a huge plus for someone like me with a busy schedule. Great teaching quality for every levels

Currently working in Shanghai for a Chinese company, I’ve decided to sign up at Silk Mandarin after comparing several institutes. I have no regret with my decision as the follow-up at this school is great. The teaching tools are created by the school and everything is really well organised. I am having group classes with teacher Jane for my HSK1 and HSK2. Really happy with the overall learning experience. Great school! The staff are very friendly and helpful, and my teacher Christina is great, she shares lots of interesting anecdotes about Chinese culture in class. The course also provides lots of preview and review materials for each section, which I find very useful.

Before I joined Silk Mandarin

Before I joined Silk Mandarin, I had spent a lot of time studying Mandarin on my own. While I managed to pick up vocabulary and some basic grammar, there were always parts of the language that felt confusing or incomplete, and I struggled to apply what I’d learned in conversation. I knew I needed a more guided and immersive approach to really make progress. Silk Mandarin provided exactly that. Their teaching methods helped fill in the gaps and complete my understanding of the language. My teacher, Yanqin, was fantastic — incredibly patient and skilled at explaining difficult concepts in a way that made them click. Thanks to her and the school’s supportive learning environment, I now feel much more confident and capable in my Mandarin journey.

Teacher Jane is OUTSTANDING

Teacher Jane is OUTSTANDING. I always had trouble learning Mandarin, and my parents tried to teach me growing up but I just couldn’t grasp it. I thought that being in China would help me pick it up, but even full immersion didn’t help much. After joining Silk Mandarin, my Chinese speaking and understanding level has improved more in the past two months, than it has in 25 years. The teaching methodology and resources are easy to use and it really works. Each week I can put my learnings into practice. Jane’s classes are super fun too, and the time flies by. It is the perfect mix of fun and serious. Jane is personable, knowledgeable and experienced at teaching students from several cultures. Her teaching really brought my Chinese speaking to the next level. I would absolutely recommend. It is worth every dollar!

Great school and very helpful for HSK exams

I’ve taken both online and in-person classes with Silk, and they do an amazing job. My Chinese level has improved tremendously over the past few months. The teachers are all very happy and encouraging, and you don’t just learn the language, but also study Chinese culture. I originally studied Mandarin in college, and have had a much better time with Silk. I especially prefer their methods for teaching grammar; they make sure you truly understand how Mandarin speakers think, instead of just memorizing sentence structures. They also do a great job of preparing you for the official HSK exams. By the time I sat down to take the HSK4 exam, I was very comfortable with the type of questions, and had no problem passing.

I strongly recommend Silk Mandarin Suzhou!

I’ve been traveling to China for work since 2019, and although I primarily use English in meetings, I’ve often felt that it would be beneficial to understand at least some Chinese. Language is key to understanding a culture’s mindset, and by learning it, I can build stronger and better relationships. I started online lessons in Europe to gain some familiarity before arriving, and now I’m taking classes twice a week at Silk Mandarin. I can really feel my progress—it’s boosting my learning! From the beginning, Miss Mia provided excellent support, not only giving clear information about the course but also offering useful tips about the life in China, making everything smooth and stress-free. The classes are truly challenging, but I’ve been having a lot of fun. Teacher Evelyn is fantastic—she teaches very well and goes beyond the classroom, helping with everyday matters like shopping on Chinese websites and navigating daily life in Suzhou. I just felt that there was a lack of information on how to rent a place. My husband and I faced some challenges with it, so maybe in the future, Silk Mandarin could establish partnerships with real estate agencies. That would definitely help foreigners like us. I suggest that school must offer more extracurricular activities to help foreigners better understand Chinese history and culture. For example, weekend workshops on cooking traditional Chinese dishes like dumplings, experiencing a traditional tea ceremony, exploring the history and art of Hanzi, or practicing Tai Chi Chuan and Qi Gong. It would also be great to have fun sessions for popular Chinese sports like ping-pong and badminton. I strongly recommend Silk Mandarin Suzhou! If I were to do this again in the future, I would choose the same course. I might even add one more day, making it three times a week—but no more than that. Having free time to study has been essential for me to absorb what I’ve learned. Since I also need time to work, I found that taking classes two or three times a week is the best balance for me. The Silk Mandarin team is truly amazing! A special thanks to Mia and Evelyn—these girls are incredible! Beyond the language learning experience, the team went above and beyond by helping my husband organize a surprise wedding ceremony for me. They were incredibly thoughtful, paying attention to every detail and making our time in China even more special and unforgettable. Thank you Silk Mandarin team.

Great teaching method at Silk Mandarin

I passed my HSK1 exam in around 2 months (2mornings /week) with teacher Jane. It was great, this school provide a platform with a set of videos and interactive exercises to do online before and after the classes, it really helps. And during the classe we do a lot of practice, I really enjoy the way Jane teaches me Chinese. I addition the school organises a lot of events, lunches... To meet the other students, it feels like a family :)

A great school

For me Silk Mandarin has been a very good school to learn mandarin. I think that their learning platform is really good and stands out from other schools. The grammar lessons on the platform are very well explained and I also found the preview and review parts very helpful. Jane has been a wonderful teacher and she made the classes very fun and educational. She also showed a lot of patience with me during my mandarin learning.

I am pretty much what you would call a hopeless case when it comes to learning new languages, but SilkMandarin has challenged that notion. Their methodology and classes are distinctive from any other centres I've attended - structured, easy to follow, and fun.
