Poor service and attitude

Booked in for aircon regas. They told me I'd come in one day too soon. One of us was wrong and I don't think it was me. Nevertheless it was regassed and I drove off. At the weekend I checked under the bonnet and found the cap over the refill port was only sitting in place and not tightened up. Emailed Autotest and told them. They replied saying it was only a dust cover and did not matter. I've been told it is the main seal after the Schrader valve used for regassing so I've probably lost some of my new refrigerant gas which is not good for the environment. There are 2 ports, one I had never seen before. It's under the windscreen scuttle. I do not believe this valve has been used so it's not been regassed properly but by only using one port and they couldn't even do that properly. I could probably have used a refill can from Halfords but wanted it done properly so I used Autotest because they seemed to have 5star reviews ( until I found this page!) Big mistake and I won't be going there again.

a big let down

I booked my car in for some work about 4 weeks ago, The request was for tyres to be checked and if needed replaced, Washer fluid bottle replaced, A android auto system to be hard wired in, and a rear camera fitted for the Android Auto, When I took my car in on the date specified, The receptionist was lovely, very friendly in fact she has been my best experience of the saga, They checked the tires and called me, and I told them to replace the 3 needed, at that point I also asked about the hardwiring of Android auto, they told me they will ask the engineer but it might not be possible, I said if it is, please can you do it. When I went to pick the car up , they had only done 2 of the 3 tyre's, the washer bottle had not been ordered so could not be done, The only correct thing they did was the rear camera, The Android Auto was not wired despite telling me they could do it, The car was booked in for today 25/7/25 to complete the tyres, replace the fluid bottle and hard wire the android for which the guy told me he had the parts to do it, well I guess 2 out 3 ain't bad as the song goes. When I took car in they said the part required to wire the gadget in has not turned up (but they already had it)?, what a surprise, no apology. I will not take the car back a third time, All these jobs could have been done in 1 Day yet they wanted to drag it out to at least 3 days I guess to get more money out of me. Very disappointed and cannot recommend them.

Contacted auto garage after a bad…

Contacted auto garage after a bad experience with another garage. I had what i thought was a leaky coolant tank, turns out it was a screw in the radiator. Matt was brilliant, called me and explained with an estimated cost for new radiator and labour. On collection matt had provided pictures and explained it all. Booked in for the work to be done, no issues and it worked out a bit cheaper than the original estimate. Came back for 2nd time for my car service, all well with one minor issue which can be fixed at anytime (doesn't effect car driving). Freindly and understanding. Will be back if any issues arise or when MOT is due :)

Best Garage around by Far.

Never disappointed at the service level at Auto Test in Ewell, the 2nd time they worked on my Edge. And quicker than Ford on getting parts. Price is reasonable and the service outstanding and they do their upmost to pull out all the stops to get you back on the road as quickly and as safely as they can.

MOT test today

MOT test today, £50. Guy was helpful and knowledgeable. Was thorough but didn't take an age. Didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need either! I couldn't fault them at all.

I seem to be the only person leaving…

I seem to be the only person leaving five star reviews! I have recently had a service and MOT carried out on my Mondeo; I previously had a Ford service contract which had now expired so I have returned to Autotest, having used them for a number of years with my previous Mondeo. They contacted me during the service to advise rear brake discs and pads were required; this I knew from being told by Dagenham Motors previously. Cannot fault the service received and would highly recommend.

Unreasonable Pricing and Unnecessary…

Unreasonable Pricing and Unnecessary Recommendations. I am typically not one to leave reviews, but I felt compelled to share my recent experience with this car repair centre. I was extremely disappointed with their pricing and unprofessional recommendations. Their prices were significantly higher than other similar services I have used. I would not recommend this car repair centre to anyone. Their prices are outrageous, and their recommendations are seems to be unprofessional. I believe they are trying to take advantage of their customers.

Used autotest a few times in the past…

Used autotest a few times in the past but unfortunately this will be the last time! Charged me £120 to repair/cut down a small fuel hose at the top of the engine and claimed they had done various road tests to find the fault! I think that really means that they left the engine running? But even if they did, what would a road test achieve with a leak?? They called me at 4.00pm to say the car hadn’t been looked at yet although I booked the car in and dropped at 8am - then I got a call back at 5pm to say the car had been repaired - that’s not an hours labour!!! Pathetic excuses as well, lesson learnt!!!

Absolutely incompetent service

Absolutely incompetent service. Stole my £120 claiming that it was gassed, there was no difference in my AC and it did not work at all. Finally, accepted that they don’t have the software to fix it. They should have said that before taking my money. Stay away from these guys!

AVOID if you CAN.

Been using AutoTest for MOTs for over 5/6 years. Started off with Passes but as every year went by they always needed to “find” something to Fail it. The most pettiest of things like a loose screw or a wire that needed a cable tie. They would always try to sell their service to me and ask to keep my car in to repair (when i know in my own mind its something i can fix in 5 minutes). I’d fix these petty things and bring it back for a re-test and it would Pass. But this year during Covid times, it looks like they went a step further with trying after many years to keep my car in for petty repair jobs that don’t require 5 mins to fix and exaggerate the issues by adding more and more Failures to the MOT list affectively leaving these on my cars record now. (My car is safe and road worthy to drive). Instead of Passing what they could have they didn’t and instead Failed something else that has been the same for 15 years but “the screw is loose” which they didn’t bring up in the last 5 years until now (to try and make money of course). They said they don’t want to “penny pinch” but thats the way it is for my car. NOT a helpful service at all and only wanted to Fail the MOT so i would be forced to folk out another £50 for the MOT and any repair jobs (by them, but in their dreams) If you are a new customer i would not recommend using AutoTest unless you want headache for petty items which has nothing to do with driving the car safely. needless to say i wont be returning after they told me “there are other garages” when i said there seems to be inconsistencies every year with my MOT. Loyal local customer now lost.

Ridiculous I messaged them on Facebook…

Ridiculous I messaged them on Facebook asking how much they would charge to remove and fit me my new injector they completely ignored my message , so in the mean time I rang somewhere else and got it sorted. I've actually now sent this place 4 messages and they've ignored every single one, came on here and noticed they have 100% bad reviews...NOT ONE GOOD REVIEW. Definately never going to come here unless they change owners 😂😂🤷‍♂️👎👎👎

I have used Autotest on a number of…

I have used Autotest on a number of occasions and been happy with their work and service. However when I took my MGF to them for an MOT they promised to keep it undercover as I was not sure how waterproof the hood was. They did not do as promised but belatedly put a plastic sheet over it when wet. This caused sweat marks in the paint which has cost me more than £250 to rectify. When I pointed this out they did not want to know. Be warned. If anything goes wrong they will not put it right.

Not sure if it was complete rip-off…

Not sure if it was complete rip-off though since I'm not a mechanic but felt it's rather expensive. Since cleaner product and filter are a lot cheaper online and understandable to add some margin on them for their profit. However, feels it's far more than that. The problem was lack of power when accelerating and fuel filer was replaced. They said they did fuel system cleaning as well (told them not to do without consent but they did and said it's necessary). Course, not understand what cleaning they did with a cleaning product that you can buy it online and can do it yourself. Hope this is useful for others to see or compare with other quotes. Labour Labour £75 Carry out Forte Power Clean £195 Product Fuel Filter £15.40 Sundries £7.5 Disel Fuel Conditioner Forte £12.95 Dpf Cleaner £16.50 And plus VAT.
