I went to the VCA Alta Vista Animal…

I went to the VCA Alta Vista Animal Hospital because my fur baby had another flare up of IVDD. I arrived at 10:15, March 9th and by 9:00 p.m. still wasn’t seen. I understand there was many critical care patients that came in and I get it and feel for them and their loved ones but my baby was in pain as well. I will never, ever go there again. I asked many times about seeing a doc and they advised me that my baby was pushed back again because of critical patients. I was absolutely livid. I finally decided after 11 hrs to leave (since I live out of town) and gave them my piece of mind of the service or lack there of. I left without paying my triage fee and said that they will not get a red cent from me. I’m still fuming and hope to see my vet tomorrow. As I know what the issue was with her and they have it on record as well, I simply needed two types of meds but of course, they can’t give me the meds as she needs to be seen first. So unprofessional and I found uncaring for my fur babies needs.

I ended up in bringing my dog because…

I ended up in bringing my dog because of his short, fast paced , and shallow breathing with a bad cough when he would walk. I went in around 6:30 a.m only to be put in a room. Then within some time a " nurse" triaged him. She told me he seems to have a cough and couldnt really see or hear anything. My goodness! Im not a nurse but given his Symptoms AND he had laboured breathing, so it shouldnt have been treated as some mild incident! We waited in that lil room for another 2 hours when finally I went to the front desk to be told that he wont be seen until later that day or night! Really?!!!! No one informed me and my precious dog had laboured breathing?!!!! I wasnt happy at all , so unprofessional! Then they said( only after me asking how long it will be to see a doctor!!!) They told me to go home and they will call me. In the meantime I drove him to the Eagleson Vet hospital. I called ahead to explain about my fog's laboured breathing. We got there, and they got us a room, and a doctor saw to him right away. He listen to his lungs like the other " triage nurse" at alta vista, and he indeed saw what I saw and heard his lungs! BIG mistake Alta Vista! Then Eagleson Vet Hospital did an xray asap and my poor baby was dying of lung cancer!!! I saw the xrays myself. Very disgusted by Alta Vista Vet Hospital! The Eagleson Vet Hospital gave him meds to help his breathing until I could attange my family to come in to put our sweet doggie out of his suffering! His lungs were full of cancer! The icing on the cske, Alta Vista Vet Hospital called me back more than 24 hours later!!!! Shame on you Alta Vista " Hospital"!!!! DISGUSTED! Shame on you!!!!

If I could give 0 stars, I would

If I could give 0 stars, I would. This place is extremely unprofessional. We brought our puppy this morning and brought a stool sample. Our puppy had chronic diarrhea and vomited in the morning so we brought him in and gave the sample. We were told the sample would be tested. We were also told we would have to get him a parvo test and that he would then go in to be assessed. We were told the parvo test would be 8 minutes, it was 35. We were here for 2 hours. Our puppy then never went in to be assessed- instead we were called saying he had to wait 3-4 hours before his turn. We went home and they called us to come back about 3 hours later. We arrived, called and they took him in after about 10 minutes. We were told the doctor would call. One hour later, we get a call from Dr. Davenport who thought we were at home with our puppy. Communication was clearly poor since they had just taken him in. Where has he been all this time? She then did the quickest assessment I have ever heard of and called back in 15 minutes but presented herself as « Leslie ». After speaking to so many different people, how was I know to it’s the doctor? She proceeded to give us her opinion and ask about x rays. At this point we rejected x rays and just wanted medication/treatment for his diarrhea and vomiting and mentioned we would follow up with our own vet. What transpired after was continued incompetence. We were trying to get our claim sent through insurance, the clerk assisting had little information on time estimate and said she would call back in 20 minutes. She mentioned she would be the one to explain the medication but had no idea which one was for which issue until checking with the doctor. We went to get coffee and got a call on the way back saying insurance didn’t go through (that’s a trupanion issue so separate) but said to call when we got back to pay the invoice and take our pup. We called on arrival in the parking lot and we were transferred through three different people. By now, we were very upset and made this clear to them. Did I raise my voice a little? Yes. But that’s acceptable after what we’ve been through all day. The girl we spoke too said there was no need to be rude and hung up on us. I called back- finally landed on the girl I was trying to contact. They came out with the machine for payment, I paid (although definitely not worth $440 for a rushed 20 minute exam by a doctor who didn’t know where he was in the first place and had to find’ him and two medications in my opinion) and had asked for written documentation on what was done today which surprisingly I got (though half assed as it was and shockingly, information written inside was apparently read by nobody throughout the day). Our sweet puppy came out all stressed after having waited so long and especially that one hour where no one knew where he was. The girl who handed him off did so rudely with no words and had the audacity to tell our pup to stay still when all he did was give us kisses for seeing us( wow). We got to the car and he was asking for water. I know he was dehydrated due to diarrhea and vomiting but he drank the whole bottle of water we had for him(we're talking about 750 ml). It’s clear in that time he was waiting, no one knew where he was, no one cared for him and he certainly got no water. He was dehydrated yesterday and this morning and did not drink this much so the conclusion can be easily made. The waiting, incorrect information, incompetence, lack of communication and unknowns mean we will not be recommending this place. Hopefully we can find another emergency hospital. If we ever come back here at all , it would be because we literally have nowhere else to go.

I took my cat Celina to Alta Vista…

I took my cat Celina to Alta Vista Animal Hospital because she wasn't feeling well, had lost some weight and needed some mats shaved under her. That is what a pet parent would do if they had a sick animal they would take it to the vet. Once there we we're taken to the exam room. A vet tech soon entered exam room but as soon as she saw me in a cheap drive wheelchair she frowned. I had someone with me that morning and seen the frown on her face when she saw the wheelchair and had to repeat herself as I was hearing impaired. I am in wheelchair because of spinal cord injury but that did not stop me from taking my sick cat in. The Vet tech began to examine my cat and noticed a bad tooth in her so I gave permission to have the tooth pulled out. The Vet tech then picked the cat up and took her in back but what would happen next was beyond horrible. From the exam room I could hear my cat crying because they we're getting so rough with her. When the vet tech brought her back and when I saw all the cuts and scratches on her I asked what is this? Why is she covered in cuts and scratches? The vet tech said oh she it was a result of us shaving her mats and on one cut I was told they glued it shut and I was like you what? You don't use super glue on a cat. As for the tooth if there was a bad tooth that needed to be pulled antibiotics should have been issued. I would have been OK with buy the antibiotics for her. But they did not do so. As a matter of fact they did not give her anything before pulling the tooth out. To my horror when I got my cat home I noticed additional cuts and scratches on her and as some time went on I looked into her mouth and noticed additional broken teeth in her left from the vet visit. Sadly I lost my cat on January 11th of 2019 way too soon after last vet visit. I am still traumatized from the lost of my cat and the horrible vet visit. I know a lady right now but out of respect for privacy that it could be anyone around this country but for this person every time they go to the vet with their cat they get huge discounts for their cat and for reasons I believe for being smart and knowing how to get these discounts for thier pet yet I can't even get a bottle of antibiotics for my sick cat who is now deceased. And for What reasons I am hearing impaired, have a few learning disabilities and a spinal cord injury and there for some felt I was powerless to defend myself or cat so they did whatever they wanted to to my beautiful kitty. 😢. What I felt to be unfair. I miss my cat every day and can't bring her back. 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😓 She will be missed. I am speaking up because it is my free speech right to do so. It would be violating my first amendment rights under constitution to request I remove review so for that reason it stays posted.
