Review summary

Truliant Federal Credit Union receives mixed feedback from its members, with a significant portion expressing dissatisfaction. While some customers praise the friendly service and quick loan approvals, particularly highlighting the efforts of staff like Margaret Durham, many others report serious issues. Common complaints include poor customer service, especially during critical situations like account closures and fraud reporting, as well as frustrations with digital banking capabilities. Reviewers mention delays in processing deposits and online bill payments, leading to a lack of trust in the institution. Despite a few positive experiences, the overwhelming sentiment reflects a lack of reliability and support. Overall, the reviews suggest that potential customers should proceed with caution.

How Margaret Durham Made My Dream Car…

How Margaret Durham Made My Dream Car Purchase Possible on Her Last Day A heartfelt and enormous thank you to Margaret Durham, Assistant Branch Manager at Truliant Federal Credit Union, for her extraordinary dedication on her very last day, Saturday, April 12, 2025. Despite it being after hours—well past noon—Margaret stayed with me tirelessly until my new car loan for $44,565.24 was fully approved. Her commitment went beyond the call of duty when she insisted I remain in her office so she could personally hand me the check immediately, sparing me the wait until Monday. Thanks to her exceptional support and determination, I was able to pick up my brand-new 2024 Mercedes-Benz C 300 from the dealer that very same day—a truly rare and miraculous occurrence. This seamless, same-day financing and delivery experience exceeded all expectations and transformed what could have been a stressful process into a moment of genuine joy. Margaret, your professionalism, kindness, and perseverance made all the difference. Congratulations on your well-deserved promotion to Branch Manager at the Truliant branch in Kernersville, NC. Your leadership and dedication clearly shine through, and I am deeply grateful to have had you by my side during this milestone. Thank you once again for making this dream come true! A truly satisfied and grateful customer, Joseph Todaro Monday, April 21, 2025

Stay away from Truliant

Stay away from Truliant. My father, a Truliant member, passed away, and we needed to close his account. After three months of emails, calls, and scanning all required probate information, the final test was to ask my mother questions about account activity in an account to which she had no access. After being unable to answer the questions, they forced me to drive my 80-year-old mother two hours to the closest branch to show the same information and close the account. Lisa, our final phone representative, was rude and uncaring. This lack of support after the death of a loved one placed my family in a horrible situation to endure.

They are so far behind on digital banking!! I asked for a loan with the push of a button and was approved in no time. Ok, now I need the money? Can't wire the money! Why??? Have to mail you a check that takes a week!!!!!! The item is needed yesterday, and you have me waiting a week to get my funds! This is ridiculous and sad! I will be moving all of my banking away from this company very soon!!

Online bill payments not being completed

Is anyone having problems with them not processing online bill pays on the scheduled date? This has happened twice for me since January 2024. OK and has anyone had an issue with truliant on an electronic transfer of a Cd that was supposed to be transferred on the maturity date to my retirement planner to convert to an annuity. My retirement planner submitted all the paperwork to truliant one month before the maturity date. Two weeks after the maturity date, my planner called and said he never got the transfer from truliant. I called truliant and they said the CD rolled over because I never requested them to change the terms.

Don’t do it

Don’t do it. Do not use them. Their customer service is horrible. They have big issues every year getting your tax documents sent out. This year I’ve placed three calls trying to get them and was told it would be emailed right away. Days later, no email. Then I was told they don’t email and I would have to go to a Truliant branch to get it. Not convenient. And today I am being told I can’t just download it from my online account because their system has been down for weeks. This bunch is just not worth the aggravation. Don’t do it.

Horrible, banking institution

Truliant Federal credit Union is the worst banking experience I’ve ever had they cannot give you accurate information. When you call their telephone service you cannot get to your money through their ATMs. There is a constant wait at every branch teller. They’re very incapable of giving a quality service for your financial needs. I do not suggest anyoneto do banking with Truliant. Thank you.

Truliant is a great Credit Union

I worked at Truliant as the Director of Security and have read these reviews and of course they are from most who have abused their own credit, argued over their personally created problems, and have gone from one institution to another due to their own making. I dealt with all these complainers so I know! Most of the complaints stated herein are false. Truliant is not a bank, it is a credit union and operation is different than banks. Quit crying and just follow the rules!

DONT DO IT!!

If I could leave 0 stars I would! I've never had a banking experience worse than with Truliant and they do nothing at all the compensate you or make up for the mistakes. The most you will get is a "I'm sorry that happened.” 1. If you are refinancing a loan- they won’t wire the funds to your current lender. So be prepared to pay double interest for both loans for 2 weeks while your payoff check is being shipped via the lowest possible speed mail possible. 2. To open a loan you must open a savings account as well- they are both connected. My loan was not set up correctly or finished processing correctly, therefore my savings account was not set up correctly. Which brings me to my issue below. 3. After making multiple phone calls and speaking to at least 5 people I will summarize my experience. I have spent no less 3 hours on the phone attempting to rectify the issue above. Because my accounts were not setup correctly, my loan payments from my Truliant savings account to my loan were rejected. I was then cut off from making online payments online and charged returned check fees. Each time I called no one knew what was going on and I was put on hold for 30 minutes at a time. I was told the issue was rectified and it would not be and I would have to call again. I believe the issue has now been resolved but I cannot say for sure and am not hopeful. I requested compensation for their error- I had to spend hours on the phone trying to fix their mistake just to be able to pay my loan. I asked for compensation for my time, I received nothing. Not even a little $25 account credit. I should have been paid the minimum wage for hours on the phone as much as they made me work just to be able to pay my loan. Had I not continued to call and call and call I wouldn’t have been able to make my payments. 4. They close at 5:30 so you’ll most likely have to carve out time during your work day to get assistance. I wish I never opened my loan with them and as soon as it’s paid off I will be closing my accounts. That is if I don’t just go to another bank and refinance before then. While they do have good personal loan rates- they definitely make you work for it with the headaches they cause. Worst banking experience I’ve ever had in my life. I feel so uncomfortable having a loan with them and knowing they have something that is tied to my credit score and can harm me due to their mistakes and negligence.

Avoid them at all costs

Where do I begin? They are truly the worst financial institution I've ever had the misfortune to deal with. From the lack of customer service availability during the pandemic, to online banking and lack of ease in conducting financial transactions. Now, I've closed all my accounts and am NO longer a customer, yet they are still selling my personal information to outside firms for direct marketing purposes. And I previously requested on MULTIPLE occasions to "opt out" of all marketing. I could go on but I don't have the time or the energy. They are truly outstanding at being the WORST financial institution ever.

They are very dishonest People

They are very dishonest People, you can start at the very top and go straight down to the people that answer the telephone, they will hurt you, they will lie to you, they will embarrass you, they will not tell you why the block your credit card, until you call them to wait 5 to 10 minutes to talking with a live Robot, by blocking your credit card for no real good reason, but they can and do not give a dam of how bad it makes you the card holder look there Attorney does not care about the truth, they will refuse to provide you documents, they do not care what they do to the Customer they use FIS/WorldPay which is as bad as Truliant Federal Credit Union, they do not care about the Customer, they even lie about making loans and why the reject a loan when credit scores are in the 700 Plus, here is a written statement by the Attorney that works at TFCU written word by Reginald Mathis Truliant may close or suspend account at any time and for any reason permitted by law, even if the Customer is NOT in DEFAULT then they twist the word to say this protect our members from Fraud and prevents our members from engaging in activities that may further cause a loss of credit resources, see how they twist word to say they are protecting you and it is your money not Truliant Federal Credit Union, they are in my opinion CORRUPT, DSIHONEST, HURTFUL, UNPROFESSIONAL 100% with my Money and telling me how to spend my mon ey and they have no legal rights to do this. The USA should shut this bank down 100% for ever but they like the tax dollars they pay and not the truth and how they damage People
