I am writing to share my deep disappointment with how Nordstrom has handled a serious issue regarding their gift cards and customer protection.
I received a $500 Nordstrom gift card as a Christmas gift from a family member. I used it once to make a purchase of about $130, leaving a remaining balance of approximately $370. However, when I attempted to use the card again just two months later during a sale, I was shocked to discover that the balance was $0.00. After contacting customer service, I was informed that the remaining funds had been stolen the very next day after my initial purchase.
What was even more concerning was the response I received. The customer service representative admitted that this type of fraud occurs frequently with Nordstrom gift cards and transferred me to the fraud department. Unfortunately, instead of taking accountability or offering a resolution, the fraud department dismissed my concerns and advised me to file a police report.
This is deeply troubling. Nordstrom has the ability to track where, when, and how a gift card is used, yet no effort was made to investigate or protect me as a customer. A company of Nordstrom’s reputation should take gift card security seriously and ensure that customers are not left vulnerable to theft.

This Christmas was a nightmare.
Several unprecedented problems:
1. I attempted to cancel an order IMMEDIATELY after ordering. (I'd accidentally written the size wrong.)
Nordstrom would not allow me to cancel!
It was a gift. I have to wait until the person receives it, and they will have to trouble themselves returning it.
2. I bought an item and tried to return it. Another nightmare: Nordstrom set a time for me to put gift on doorstep for pickup. But pickup NO SHOWED.
i contacted Nordstrom. They set up for pickup the next day. I woke up early, it was raining, so I wrapped item in plastic, put it on the door step, and again, pickup NEVER SHOWED UP.
I contacted Nordstrom a THIRD time. I will get up early yet again. Will pickup come? Don't know.
But let me tell you WHY I am returning the $100 cashmere sweater. First, it looks NOTHING like the picture. It fits like a baggy sweatshirt. Even worse: it sheds and sheds. I washed it 7 times, and get fistfulls of gobby lint. This sweater HAS to be a hazard to the lungs. Why is Norstrom selling crap?
I've bought from them for years.
I don't know what's going on, but I am no longer a customer.
