I would really recommend volunteering in Cuzco with Proyecto Peru
I was in Cuzco with PMGY and Proyecto Peru for almost four weeks and I’m still leaving this place wishing I had more time here. I did the Animal Sanctuary Project which is a very magical and peaceful place and stayed in a peruvian hostfamily and I truly had a great time. Everyone I encountered was incredibly helpful and nice and made me feel welcome. The organization from Proyecto Peru works very well, I felt taken care of and in addition got to enjoy free social activities to meet other participants. Also both the host family and the people working at the sanctuary like Yeremi and Jose were welcoming and taught us a lot, not just anything imaginable about the animals but also plenty of lessons about the culture and life here and helped me to improve my spanish. Since there were many festivities and we were free to not come on these days, my time working in the project was a bit shorter than booked but honestly, that was an advantage for me because I got to go on many tours and trips and discover almost all the amazing main sights around the area. I’m not a city person or someone who returns to the same travel destination but as I’m leaving I can’t wait to be back one day and I would recommend anyone to do the same.
