Somehow got my new Credit card number and charged it

Wanted to learn about Directing film. Not enough content. Watched all relevant classes quite quickly then never logged on for more than a year. My credit card went out of date and they tried to auto renew. I never logged on or updated my credit card number. They somehow obtained my credit card number and charged me auto renew. Chatted with chat bot. It said no refund. Send email. No response. Poor form Masterclass! Isn't it the right thing to do to see that someone is not using the platform and don't charge them. Surely you are making enough money.

Obtained a full refund

I enjoyed Masterclass when I first signed up and had a need. I did not like the auto renewal process, however after reading another’s review on how they obtained a full refund by utilising the chatbot - - I signed into Masterclass - Went to the ‘help’ page - Entered into the Refund page - Waited for the Chatbot to appear - Requested a full refund - Refused the offer of a 50% refund with a continued subscription - Was the provided with a full refund. Please note: I requested a full refund the same day as the auto renewal hit my account. Thank you Masterclass. I was in tears because I simply do not have the funds for this right now. The money your company is returning to my account is desperately needed. Because that money is being returned, if I can ever afford it again, I will utilise your services once again - with a mind for the automotive renewal process though.

Great Support Bot

Surprisingly and contrary to other reviews here after signing up and never using the Service really i was charged 192 € Today and upon talking to the support chatbot within literally 1 minute i had the refund of that Payment in my Paypal so yeah... Great experience with the customer support Bot.

Like everyone else, unable to unsubscribe was auto renewed, was told they can’t refund even though I reported it the exact same day I was charged. This is the worse kind of business to deal with

I signed up for one-year…

I signed up for a one-year subscription with Masterclass, expecting meaningful training and mentorship. The reality was disappointing: the content is vague, lightweight, and largely hype. After only a few weeks I realised there was very little of real value—certainly nothing you couldn’t get for free through podcasts like Diary of a CEO, which often feature the same people. What’s worse is the business model. Without clear warning, you are tied into an auto-renewal at around £120 a year. Cancelling is deliberately difficult and feels parasitic—exactly the kind of “dark pattern” subscription trap regulators are supposed to prevent. I’ve wasted time today just trying to untangle myself from their system. Buyer beware: unless you are in the UK or EU where refund rights apply, you may find yourself locked into a service that is overpriced, missold, and extremely hard to leave.

Nightmare to unsubscribe!

Like everyone said it’s a nightmare to unsubscribe. The first time they offered me 50% off for the year and like a fool I accepted. I wasn’t aware it came with auto renewal but of course it did. I send a frantic email explaining I’m not working and asking for a refund since I have not used the app and they respond saying they can’t do anything but what they CAN do is offer 50% off and autonrenew your subscription again hoping you forget to cancel. This is not a sustainable business model. Besides admin, the interface is soo confusing when navigating between videos and within a video. And nothing was actually a deep dive into anything but a surface level presentation.

I’m very disappointed with MasterClass

I’m very disappointed with MasterClass. I cancelled my subscription two months ago, followed all the steps, and received confirmation. Yet, I was charged R$700 (~USD $130) for an annual renewal I never authorized. This is unacceptable — I had no access to the platform after cancelling and never agreed to continue. Now I’m struggling to get a refund for something I clearly cancelled in advance. . I hope MasterClass does the right thing and refound

Stealing money

i cancelled my subscription in may because i wasn't availble to use it . it said i still had a couple months left on my subscription even though i cancelled. Today they took 166.92$ dollars out of my account and I am trying to talk to someone but there is no one to talk to and i can only get 50% of what they took back and i'm stuck in a crappy bot loop that gives me only the option of getting 50% of my money back or that i've changed my mind. SO trashy. where is your accountability. Have some foresight about developing a good product and make sure people can get their money back especially when they have cancelled and have asked for repair the same day you stole their money. You are shooting your own company's foot by not being accountable for repair. It brings you from a product we can trust to a scam product no one will recommend or return to. *UPDATE- you need to ask to speak with someone and reiterate that you have cancelled this several times before the bot will accept that you actually had in fact cancelled your subscription. i did get my money back - but not without panic or getting their creepy only eligible for 50% BS. If you want your company to be treated as a long term product that people will trust - you can't do this kind of crap to people. be accountable, have a real person available, make it easy to solve problems and don't treat their own accounts like a personal pocket books with consequences. Be accountable, be upfront, and respect people's cancellations. Don't be like domestika.

The content is mind-numbingly bland, shockingly superficial, and a complete waste of time. It preys on curiosity and delivers nothing of substance — just empty, recycled fluff masquerading as insight.

Wow, when will I learn to check reviews

Wow, when will I learn to check reviews before purchasing something!? The rating reflected here at trust pilot is exactly correct. Masterclass is a highly misleading name. It does NOT contain what any average person would consider to be a class by any stretch of the imagination. These are basically Ted talks. Do you learn things from a Ted talk? Yes. Would ANYONE describe or consider a Ted talk to be a class? Hard NO. There is a 30 day money back guarantee but life gets busy and time flies so I missed it, unfortunately. I would NOT recommend paying for this unless you just want to browse around for a month to verify what the reviews are saying is true. But, set an alarm to be sure and cancel it in time because it is totally not worth it!!

money stealing scam

I was enjoying the classes and the content but cancelled my subscription before renewal. They have not stopped trying to charge me for subscription though. My account setings have no card on file and say that my account is no longer active. I have spoken to customer service multiple times and they confirm that my subscription is cancelled. The charges have still not stopped. At least I don't have money in that account currently but as soon as I do, it seems that it will be taken and there's nothing i can do. I have read some of the reviews on the web and it seems like this is their common practice that they only take accountability for once there is a bad review received. I hate to think of their users who are not as tech savvy being overcharged for this mediocre platform.

Le renouvellement de l'abonnement est scandaleux, j'ai signalé par mail le non renouvellement de mon abonnement, ne pouvant sur l'application le faire. Quelques jours après j'ai quand même été de nouveau débité, c'est du vol. À fuire !

Fantasticly interesting nonfiction topics in various categories with respect to diversity, equity and inclusion. I wish I had more time to watch and learn. The teachers are all masters in the fields. I highly recommend watching Tehachapi. It is life changing.

Shady Billing practices – Charged Without My Consent

I was shocked to find that MasterClass charged a different card than the one I originally used — without my knowledge or permission. I had not updated my billing details, nor was I aware that they would retrieve card information from my bank to process a renewal. What’s more disappointing is that I was previously emailed by MasterClass stating that my account would be automatically cancelled if the payment continued to fail. Based on that message, I had no reason to expect any further charges — especially not through a completely different card I never submitted. I eventually received a response offering either a 50% refund to keep the account or a full refund upon cancellation. While I appreciate the refund option, this entire experience has left me feeling misled and concerned about how my payment information was handled. I have never in my life been billed for a subscription from a card I have never provided. Don’t assume a failed payment means your account will close.

Beware! Bogus guarantee

Beware! I purchased a gift subscription for my Mom on Mother's Day. I encouraged her to redeem it and try it out for a few days because of the 30 day guarantee. Mom told me a week later that she didn't care for it, so I requested to cancel it. They refused because the gift had been redeemed. Per their Terms and Conditions: " Unless as required by applicable law in your jurisdiction, within the first 30 days after the date of purchase of a Gift Subscription and if not yet redeemed for a subscription, at the Gift Subscription Holder’s option, the Issuer will refund the full amount to the purchaser of the Gift Subscription." There is no way to "try" this without redeeming it, and they flat refused to refund my money! *UPDATE* After posting several of these negative reviews, Masterclass refunded my payment in full.

Refund policy worked

I signed up for MasterClass but the content is unfortunately not what I expected. It's good but not dynamic enough to learn from. My review is actually about the support team who handled my email immediately and processed the 30 day money back guarantee immediately when asked. (I'd been using the platform for about 3 weeks) I've read a handful of other reviews and it seems like most of them are about the money back guarantee and not that many about the actual content. That's a bit sad, hopefully they will improve on that.

A reassuring positive experience with Support Team regarding subscription matter ☺️

I was originally excited to have found the masterclass platform, it looked interesting and extremely well designed and thought through . I was very much looking forward to making the most of my subscription. I followed the process and all seemed great, I thought that I had signed up for the monthly instalments which felt manageable to both my budget and learning time. I submitted my payment and then I panicked as I hadn’t looked closely enough as what I had purchased was a yearly subscription 🫨 which was £168.00p . i was mortified, I tried to resolve this via the Chat Bot app the response was supportive and helpful but the support team is not based in the uk, so I had an agonising wait for my support ticket to reach the Masterclass support team. I did email a few times, and I then I also contacted via logging in through the Masterclass app on my mobile and my issue was resolved straight away . The support team were extremely helpful and understanding and appreciated this was a genuine error on my part ..( I didn’t access any of the classes whilst this was being resolved). I did expect that I would not be eligible for a refund and expected to have to put this down to my error but I was pleasantly surprised the support team authorised my refund request and the my original subscription is not returned to my account . Thank you very much Masterclass Support for being so helpful and understanding I am very grateful. On another note if you ever do consider offering a monthly subscription this is something I would definitely be interested in this. I do feel sad that others experiences don’t seem to be as positive as mine but I did want to share that my experience was a very positive one .

Don’t trust their 30 day money back…

Don’t trust their 30 day money back guarantee. I requested a refund on Thursday within an hour of subscribing. I’m yet to be helped or contacted by a human. Their AI chatbot is useless. Just give me my refund as promised by your guarantee.

Gift card does not work

I have bought a gift card for my father which could be redeemed in the next year. When he tried to redeem it less than a month after I bought it, the platform told him the gift card had expired. After talking with a bunch of AI useless help assistants a human assistant recognised the error and said it would solve it, but instead of solving it they closed the request. Now more than a year has passed and they refuse to validate the gift card or refund me.
