Disappointed with the experience

I chose Hannah's firm after being recommended by a friend. They were very competitive on pricing and, having gone through a very expensive divorce, cost was important to me. My house sale was the last piece of the divorce jigsaw, which had been extremely stressful and Hannah's team very competently handled the sale up until the date of completion, however this is where they fell short. No funds from the sale appeared and there was no communication from Hannah's team about what was happening. I had to keep chasing for an update and was given very sketchy, limited information about what was happening, other than that it was a problem with the Bank. Funds finally appeared after 4 days of me chasing and demanding to know what was happening. No-one contacted me to tell me funds had been transferred, or to apologise for the delay until a couple of days later. It is such a shame my experience with them ended this way, as up until completion, I had been very happy with my experience.

HMD Legal - best representation ever!

HMD Legal - and more specifically Grace Braim and her team are amazing! This is a wonderfully modern & refreshing way of legal firms doing business. When selling and buying houses recently they kept us informed at every stage via web portal, telephone and email. Any questions we had were always answered quickly and we had a clear idea of what was happening & when. Moving is a stressful business but Grace made it as easy as possible for us. HMD take away the usual ‘smoke & mirrors’ of conveyancing - they are open & honest & understand that they are dealing with people’s lives. Wholeheartedly recommend HMD & would definitely use them again! Thank you!

Outstanding work

Nicola and Donna, did an outstanding job of arranging the sale of our house. They provide us with an update of how the work was progressing. When we had a query it was answered promptly. Definitely a company we would recommend to anyone wishing to sell their home.

Tia and Dagmara were very professional…

Tia and Dagmara were very professional throughout the course of the sell of my property. The process turned out to be quite protracted and stressful due to the leasehold arrangements of my property - but Tia and Dagmara kept me informed throughout the process. The completion process, when we got there, turned out to be quick and easy. I would definitely recommend Hmd Legal to anyone considering selling their property.

Review for HMD Legal (Solicitor: Hannah, Paralegal: Simay)

I had a very positive experience working with HMD Legal on a complex property purchase that involved issues under the Building Safety Act 2022 (cladding). After another solicitor (PPL Solicitors) gave up on the case after six months of delays and little progress, Hannah at HMD Legal was able to take it on and successfully close it — which was a huge relief. Hannah was professional, determined, and clearly experienced in handling challenging conveyancing cases. Simay, the paralegal, was also helpful and responsive throughout the process. Their communication was clear and timely, and I always felt that my case was being properly looked after. One thing to be aware of is that HMD Legal is not on all lender panels. This meant I had to appoint an additional solicitor to liaise with the lender, which added some extra cost and delays. Still, given the complexity of the case, I was more than happy to make that trade-off for the level of service and expertise Hannah provided. I’d definitely recommend HMD Legal — especially if you're dealing with a tricky property transaction where others have struggled.

Tia and Dagmara were fantastic….

Tia and Dagmara were fantastic and kept us informed of every stage. It was fairly straightforward in terms of the sale but we had to do some of the work when it came to some of the actions that fell out of the survey, I.e sign off for an extension which I had to complete. Nevertheless very competent and very competitive in terms of pricing.

HMD Legal were great to work with

HMD Legal were great to work with. I required a quick turn around of just 20 working days to complete. They completed it with no fuss at all. The online system you have access to gives you great visibility of where your case is, there is no constant phoning your solicitor or feeling unsure of the progress of your case. Cost wise I found them very competitive within the market which was great as well. The no fuss approach was most appealing to me, they work at speed too. I would say communication is great and better than most solicitors I've worked with in the past but can occasionally be a little slower than I would have liked. But having the online website and app access meant you can check your case progress anytime anywhere. Definitely recommend HMD Legal for anyone who needs to complete in a short time period.

Would definitely recommend! I recently bought my first house and HMD legal were great, Grace was my conveyancer and she was always quick to reply to any questions and made the move easy. HMD are very reasonably priced for the service they deliver.

Great team

Nicola Peacock my case handler and the whole team were great. Mine was a difficult sale for various unexpected reasons but they took them in their stride. Clearly highly competent and professional and on top of the intricacies. There could be a little better handing over between the team for holidays but that only had a very minor impact which doesn't affect the overall rating.

What a fantastic service

What a fantastic service, I had a bit of a rough ride buying my house but chose to stick with HMD for the whole process, they are efficient, keep you up to date with every step and was on hand all the time for my queries. HMD reliable,available & affordable!

HMD are always at the end of the phone or an email which is very reassuring when needing to know where a sale/ purchase is at. I am an estate agent so I also recommend HMD to my clients as they are fast and efficient too! Recently I moved house myself and the sale went through on time and stress free. The added bonus is the price which is also very affordable . Can’t fault them! Well Done HMD.

Can not thank Chamodi and Harry enough…

Can not thank Chamodi and Harry enough we had to change solicitors 2 weeks before we was supposed to complete on our house, they did everything they could to make this happen. They kept us updated throughout the whole process and made everything so easy for us. We will 100% use HMD legal in the future if needed. Once again thank you so much for all your help.

Slow and non responsive file handler

We instructed HMD legal to deal with our purchase but were told they could no longer act for us as they were not on the panel for Halifax. We had to find new solicitors. However, the way it was dealt with was terrible, we had to chase numerous times before we were told what was happening. The file handler Chamodi was holding up the file by saying there were outstanding queries but would not specify what queries. Very frustrating.
