Review summary

Harry's Country Kitchen receives a generally positive reception, with many reviewers praising the taste and quality of the meals. Customers frequently highlight the deliciousness of specific dishes, such as the sticky toffee pudding and Chicken Tikka, noting that the meals are tasty and well-prepared. However, there are notable complaints regarding portion sizes, with some consumers feeling that the meals are too small for the price, especially when compared to alternatives from other retailers. Additionally, issues with order fulfillment and delivery have been raised, including missing items and late arrivals, which detracts from the overall experience. Despite these criticisms, many people appreciate the good value and variety offered. Overall, the sentiment leans positive, though there are areas for improvement.

Bought from Iceland. So disappointed, meals are small and expensive. £4 for 130g fish, 150g chips and 70g peas. Iceland equivalent £1.74 per meal, initially costs more however 4 meals instead of 1, remaining chips and peas can be used for further meals unless you like to pile your plate up

Tried ordering food today but they didn't have any, home delivery has stopped, web site doesn't say they are not delivering or have no food. Should have realised months ago when you couldn't get half of what's shown on their brochure, really annoying as I have to get food elsewhere for person I look after.

Order 2 'Meal Bundles' and 6 meals missing from the order. These are for my Dad and while I can't be certain I'm fairly sure this is not the first time it's happened. Lovely lady of Customer Service however I would not recommend buying from Harry's Country Kitchen and will not again myself.

Not for me.

1 - Steak in Ale with Cheese Cobblers... [D] The taste and texture of the ale gravy is reasonable. The meat needs to be cooked for a lot longer and the dumplings are very stodgy. If you add your own mash or boiled potatoes this just about makes a small meal. You're probably better off getting a £1 Fray Bentos pie in a tin. 2 - Creamy King Prawn Pasta... [B-] Plenty of pasta and prawns. This is a full sized meal. The prawns are tender, the pasta is cooked. The sauce lacks flavour and is a bit thin so you may want to add black pepper and cheese then stir it all in. 3 - Chicken Chow Mein [F] This meal has no business calling itself 'chicken chow mein'. It's basically some chicken pieces in a thick, brown, flavourless gravy and some thick, over-cooked noodles. It's horrible. To make this edible add spaghetti, chicken, and (lots of) soy sauce and Tabasco! 4 - Chicken Tikka Masala [C] The sauce is thin, sweet and mild. (Not too oily, though.) There's not enough chicken to make this a proper meal. The best way to describe it would be 'a mild curry flavoured chicken soup'. (I added more chicken and used my own Uncle Ben's Rice to make this a proper sized meal.) 5 - Lancashire Hot Pot [B] This has the texture of Shepherd's Pie with some nice lean, tender lamb added, and the flavour is okay. It makes an adequate small meal. (18 pieces of potato on the cover and just 10 on the meal!) You'll want to add some potatoes and maybe a tin of peas. 6 - Sweet And Sour Chicken [B] A tasty, sweet viscous sauce and enough of it for a meal... if you add chicken! No pineapple chunks. There is a common theme running through all these frozen meals and it's that the supermarkets do them better and cheaper. 7 - Shepherd's Pie [D] A watery squirt of anaemic, powdered mash potato over a lamb-flavoured gravy! The meat is fatty, despite being ground down and the flavour of the sauce is mild to non existent. Just throw it away. It's almost inedible. No thought has gone into this at all. 8 Lasagne [C+] It's not 'lasagne', but... lots of meat sauce with a decent flavour, the pasta is not overcooked and there's plenty of the bland white sauce, too. But once again, to make this a meal you have to add things... lots of spaghetti and a loaf of garlic bread did it for me. In summation, I won't be back. The supermarkets do these meals, and better and cheaper.

My order arrived a day late

My order arrived a day late. The staff member was very helpful and polite at customer services when it did not arrive as expected. The food looked very appetising but the packaging was definately over the top (both the postal packaging and the actual food items). We had to crush the enormous boxes to fit them in the freezer.(Would a simple card sleeve around the tray have been simpler?) Preparation instructions were a bit complicated, fo example the chicken dinner, required piercing the packaging for the chicken and vegetables, but remove the potatoes and stuffing before putting in the oven (return to oven for last 20 mins). As the film lid of the packaging is opaque, it was difficult to distinguish what was in each compartment. As for the taste ..... very bland and the chicken was in one chunk which was difficult to cut up.

Very disappointed with delivery and…

Very disappointed with delivery and packaging. Despite asking for products to be delivered and put outside my door, they were left in Reception in the 3 storey block where I live. 2 large and very heavy boxes which I could not lift (aged 78 with heart problems). Had to borrow a trolley to take them in lift to my flat. In the boxes I found loads of packing materials plus numerous plastic packs full of ice ( I appreciate meals have to be kept cold ) but I then had the job of breaking down the very strong boxes to put in the recycling bin. The ice packs were put in a bucket and have taken nearly 2 days to thaw as I couldn't put them directly in recycling containers full of ice or water. For these reasons I will not reorder. No idea what the food tastes like yet but the delivery problems are too much for me to cope with.

Good value and very tasty

The meals were all lovely, a decent size and very easy to cook. My only concern was that the puddings were too sweet for my taste. Overall I was very happy with my order

Sugar in dinner !!!

Sugar in dinner is untraditional & equally so in anything savoury! Portion sizes (teaplate) not worth the price. Pasta meals a fraction better. At least didn't go in the bin like rest!!!
